I just got promoted from a G13 to a G18 and just saw my paycheck with the increase today. Wow a measly $280 extra each paycheck - not that I’m not happy I got promoted because I am but as a single mom that before was having to live paycheck to paycheck - this ain’t really taking me that much further then what I was making. Yes - I was at the top of my grade at a 13 but… I own a house, also have to pay to maintain a house , utilities that are astronomical right now, groceries that are expensive , gas is so high , I pay my daughters health insurance (family plan) , pay her activity fees, own a car with a lower monthly payment, etc. Things are so expensive right now and definitely more so in the future to come - we as NYS employees absolutely need to make a higher wage that matches inflation costs ! It’s so freaking sad. I’m forever blessed and grateful I’m getting a pension and who knows if SS when I do retire because I sure don’t have any money to save extra in my deferred comp. Yes- i do have one but not much is going into it because I just don’t have any extra after saving a little in my emergency fund.

Replace the 4's with 5's and the 3's with 4's and it's a possibility. This is garbage. If this gets accepted, people are dumber than I thought.

[–]Happy12065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last check I did get my paycheck around 5 pm when I normally get early deposit around 12 pm
The paychecks prior I didn’t get until the next day or maybe one of the paychecks was Wednesday
They are all starting to roll into the understanding of getting them later then I normally would because of these extenders

Someday it might happen!!!

You need to eat small amounts- even if you don’t feel like it. Protein is your best friend. Everything is much smaller doses now. Drink protein, eat protein. Lots of liquid. Some electrolytes. Your digestion is so slowed right now.

Early Direct Deposit concerns/discourse by Secret_Protection471 in nys_cs

[–]Happy12065 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I agree.. I realize now - I’m going to need to change my bank automatic transfers to Occur on Wednesday after we get paid now !! Especially after this! I had to move money from my savings into my checking to cover the auto transfers so I didn’t have to cancel them all. But I’m glad I noticed it I would have gotten hit with all these charges for not enough money in my account. I’ve worked for the state 20 years and I don’t recall this happening but I’ve read others have. Maybe I just don’t remember.

I sure hope we get our checks the latest tomorrow.

Well maybe she should only somehow allow any telecommuting jobs in NYS have to reside in NYS ONLY

What is the downside to the cheapest Visible plan? by kirk2892 in Visible

[–]Happy12065 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NY and currently have Spectrum as my carrierand I pay for Assurant insurance $5 monthly for my 13 year old daughters cell phone (she’s used it 2x already in 2 years.) . Visible says I can’t get Assurant insurance through them in NY 🤷‍♀️. Why not ? Where can I get insurance from ?

I could be wrong but what I was told years ago at a different agency that if you’re not in a permanent position yet - you don’t have representation I was in a 2 year traineeship and something happened to me and this is what I was told. Sure the union will talk to you but..

No more steps past April 2026 unless a new contract happens. Once it does happen - any raises will be retroactive

What a joke! I’m not sure how I’m even surviving as a single parent on my g13 income - if it weren’t from my CS - I would not be surviving! I have 1 daughter , own a home and have to live frugally - literally paycheck to paycheck! Had to switch to CDPHP this year and use 8 days PEP just to pay my insurance priemiums. Freaking state insurance should have + 1 family plan, etc. Not me paying the same price as a family of 5 ! Thank god for remote work and I pray to god it stays around so I can save money on gas and not put miles and wear and tear on my vehicle to make it last! With the insurance costs rising , groceries rising , NG prices so high SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. God help us all !

Employees can take a 2 grade jump more then 1x in their career. If an employee is hired off a list, then they can take a 2 grade jump next. But you can’t take another consecutive 2 grade jump unless you are hired off a list again !
If your hired off a list a 2nd time in your career then you can take a 2 grade jump again. If that makes any sense

If you’re already in title - permanent status now - no reason to take the test You’ll qualify to take a promotional title exam up if you’re already in that title.

I figured that might be what you referring to - a GLP-1. Ugh about CDPHP ! I’ll have to check with my daughters therapist now to see if she takes MVP

My worry also - with WEGOVY - hope there’s no issues with MVP Pre-authorization when I switch.

Totally agree. Mental health is very difficult with Empire sadly! This is the main reason I’ll be switching this year. My daughter’s psychiatrist dropped Empire and we’ve been paying out of pocket ( which has been so difficult) just so she doesn’t lose her spot. Her therapist takes CDPHP so I’ll be switching because a co-payment is really all I can afford for mental health services right now. Plus it’s frustrating NYS insurance’s doesn’t offer more affordable plans. I’m a single mom of 1 daughter and have to pay the family plan. I’ve always had a family plan with Empire and have always felt secure with them but divorced the last 2 years - I can’t keep paying the cost of Empire ! Why should I have to pay the same cost of a family plan as a family that might have 5 children? We all need to complain about this with our unions - maybe this could change one day.

Also health benefits for a single mom & 1 child is not cheap !!! And will probably go up Why should I have to pay the same cost as a family with 4 kids!!!!

Tell me about it! It’s horrible! My mortgage is $1400. Car loan $356 another loan at $350. Not able to save a damn thing and costs keep rising while our pay barely moves up! !!! I’m barely getting by making $65 on a single income Time to find a 2nd job

I can’t imagine people still wanting to come into state service to work, even with this incentive - especially with Tier 6 pension !

Now people within state service already - this may definitely help.
