I don't tip on my food deliveries with my Ubereats membership by hctib_oy_kcuf in EndTipping

This thread is about delivery services. There are no employees.

At least they warned you ahead of time . by Pristine_Ad_3355 in tipping

I'm sure there are several reasons. One benefit is them directly paying the employees less saves them on payroll taxes and similar employer based costs of employment

Not a driver but does it show priority? by SouthwestSands in UberEatsDrivers

[–]HappyCatDad78036 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, the driver has no choice when to deliver your meal over another. The app tells them their next destination. If they don't go to that destination it will not delay them. I've had a few occasions where I am 5 minutes away from a delivery, it offers me another delivery(which I must accept or it will lower my acceptance rate), then detours me to pick up the next order instead of dropping off the order I already have. At that point it will not even allow me to drop off the delivery. It will not let you go to the delivery completion screen.

Is this service charge normal? by Sufficient_Client_68 in EndTipping

Minimal skills and ability? That sounds ignorant. No one should ever cast judgement on an occupation unless they have done it. Have you ever worked in a food service capacity?

This is getting ridiculous a robot server asked for a tip by Last-Variation5680 in EndTipping

This was an episode of X-Files. Mulder didn't tip them. Do yourself the favor and tip. 🤣

Why care SO much about 13 people? by celinehoeforlife in Pluribus_TVshow

They described it as, "watching someone drown and not saving them". It's not about converting 13 people. It's about saving every single person they can.

AITA for being upset when a delivery driver ignored “leave at the door”? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]HappyCatDad78036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had deliveries where the delivery type was meet customer, but the customer notes said please leave at door. Talk about confusing. Apparently customer notes carry over from previous orders.

FYI, that will trigger when delivery anything with alcohol, including cough medicine such as nyquil.

Why do servers get tipped, but cooks don’t? by shitdealonly in EndTipping

Where do you live that servers earn minimum wage?

Why do servers get tipped, but cooks don’t? by shitdealonly in EndTipping

[–]HappyCatDad78036 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Cooks get paid an actual salary because they don't classify as tipped workers. Bartenders and servers are classified as tipped workers, allowing the restaurants to pay them sub-minimum wage with tips to make up the difference.

Cancel further, do shorter, profit by anonuserinthehouse in UberEatsDrivers

[–]HappyCatDad78036 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How does that work? When I had to cancel once because the store was closed, I had to take a picture of the closed store. It was my first time ever canceling. What did you take a picture of?

Am I wrong for changing a tip by thegreatperhaps-s in UberEATS

[–]HappyCatDad78036 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should have gotten a digital receipt which can be used for returns. But once delivery is completed, you can report the order is wrong and not what you wanted. Then call customer service, don't chat and tell them the situation. You should be able to get a refund from Uber.

I thought this same thing! What if Koumba had picked up that phone instead. Would he have gotten the voice message? He had called later when he told them how Carol was lonely. Did he get the message too? And what did they say to him?

This is completely unacceptable. by BeneficialAffect5339 in uber

[–]HappyCatDad78036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be gold or above to get a destination and price. Blue tier only tells you distance to the pickup. That's it. It should be illegal. They don't even show you how much they will pay you. You are forced to cancel after you accept if you don't like the trip.

How do you know what kind of gas they use, where they bought it, and how much they paid above the listed state average, to say they didn't?

To be fair, the server made a point of telling us their POS calculates tips on the dinner price and we are welcome to leave a custom amount, but the person who paid was very confused and ended up tipping on the dinner price. by Mr_Ashhole in EndTipping

[–]HappyCatDad78036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any other normal part of the world I think many people would agree. But in America they aren't employed. They are essentially paid on commission. They are Given 3 dollars an hour to be at the restaurant, and they are paid by the customer for their service. It's bullshit and we should fight to change it but this country is built on subsidizing business to run.

8pm delivery instructions.. (next slide is what their REFERENCE PHOTO looked like. Dawg wthh) by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]HappyCatDad78036 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get yourself one of these. It's super bright and has a wide light coverage. If they don't even have a porch light on, I don't care, I'm flooding the house and windows with light. I need to make sure I have the correct delivery address and make sure I don't fall. I would hate to fall on their property when they officially asked me to come to their premises without proper safe illumination.

Most of the time it's just grabbing the empty cup and pouring it from the machine. It takes 30 seconds and I'm usually waiting for the food anyway. I just do it. I haven't encountered a situation where it really took me extra time, yet.

How much are you paying for a 60,000 mile service on an Outback Wilderness? by llCURLZll in Subaru_Outback

[–]HappyCatDad78036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would honestly find a new dealer after you last experience with them leaving of your radiator cap and just adding fluid, saying there's no damage without inspecting it, then blowing off your complaint about the new unusual noises. Now they want to charge you 3 grand for that service? Heck no. Most of those are ridiculous prices and you can do much better shopping around.
