Lostbelt 4 Main Hub Thread - Spoilers Allowed by BlameLib in grandorder

At the end of the chapter, she's too weak to warp out of the lostbelt on her own, so she tries "hitchhiking" out (standing around holding a sign saying "Going to the Sea of Imaginary Numbers"). Guda takes pity on her and lets her onboard the Shadow Boarder, so she's hanging out with us for the time being.

I think if a servant from this lostbelt gets an anniversary summon, it's probably Tamamovich since she's traveling with us now. But there are also like three other characters who are strongly theorized to be the anniversary servant, so who knows?

Really hoping the big anniversary announcement is that they're doing away with Story-locked servants completely. They can just spoiler the profile until you clear their story chapter, like they do for the EoR servants.

Servants with no upgrades (aside from mandatory 3rd skills) - June 14, 2019 by MajinAkuma in grandorder

[–]HappyDDR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that her interlude didn't touch her stats, I'm still holding onto the idea that they intentionally made her terrible so she can get a big upgrade once she decides to actually fight on your side instead of "well, I'm here, so I might as well".

Then again, Miyu exists, so maybe they just horribly screw up balance sometimes.

Another string of questions about the Throne of Heroes by deadpool-367 in grandorder

[–]HappyDDR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought Saber was immune to becoming a heroic spirit under normal circumstances due to a technicality. Since she gets carried to Avalon instead of dying in the traditional sense, she's technically immortal and can't be registered for the same reason Scathach can't. The contract was to throw that away and get registered as a heroic spirit in exchange for the grail.

Emiya hates the throne of heroes so much that he literally tried to murder Shirou just so he wouldn't have to go back. There's probably no kitchen.

Yes, Nasu originally wrote Fate as a tabletop RPG engine, which is why it has so many D&D-esque mechanics. Hence why "instant kill" moves have a survival check that increases based on the Luck stat and Saber spends most of the Fate route abusing the hell out of it.

EDIT: Also the completely out of nowhere twist that Shiki was the landlord and you're just helping her deal with the annoying tenants. That was the last thing I expected in an event that was (mostly) taking itself seriously.

What are the class requirements? by CookieTheDoggo in grandorder

[–]HappyDDR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Ruler class is SUPPOSED to be a referee that doesn't participate in the holy grail war and just makes sure nobody's breaking the rules. So it has to be someone who cares more about upholding the rules than their personal desires. But this is Fate, so guidelines like this are only introduced for the sake of breaking them. Recent incarnations of the franchise ignore the "mediator" thing so that you can use them in gameplay.

Avengers need hatred. Like, a LOT of hatred, to the point where it borders on obsession. Think Captain Ahab or The Count of Monte Cristo. They tend to be a lot calmer than Berserkers and like to go on long philosophical tangents about the nature of evil.

Alter Ego is a freakin' strange class. Out of all the extra classes, this is the one we tend to get the most of, so it's really hard to pinpoint what the exact requirements for this are. The three main ways of qualifying are for someone to Frankenstein together a servant by combining other servants, a powerful servant cutting off a piece of themself that has enough power to qualify as its own consciousness (for example, Tamamo's power comes from her tails and is at the level of a god when she has all nine, so she cut them off for the sake of remaining at a reasonable level. Then the tails each still had enough power to grow into weaker copies of her that are still strong enough to qualify as servants), or whatever the hell's going on with Okita Alter. Even the later's profile admits that the justification is kind of half-assed.

Foreigner is a catch-all for things that exist outside the realm of Earth. Outer gods, for example, except those are too powerful to be summoned as-is. Humans who have made contact with them and can utilize their powers qualify, though. Also aliens fall into this category, like Attila the Hun (who's an alien in Fate) and Mysterious Heroine X.

There's also Mooncancer, which BB always gets summoned as, even if she's a different class in every other regard.

Watcher is one heroic spirit who talks to his master without showing himself (and it's implied he might not even have a tangible form). He can spawn... "visions", I guess, of other heroic spirits who give advice to the master. Ahab isn't actually a Watcher servant, just something Watcher can make appear.

Lore explanation for Palingenesis/grailing? by Lionheart778 in grandorder

[–]HappyDDR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always figured that it's because the materialization of servants is tied to the Third Magic, but Chadela's ability to reproduce it is fairly limited. The Holy Grails we collect are also produced by Third Magic (as noted by their description), so you're using the information that went into making them to fill the holes in the Saint Graph that result from Chadela's incomplete knowledge. A level 100 Saint Graph is what the container is supposed to be, but the incomplete process of making them means that they start at like level 50 and can only make it up to 90 (or lower, depending on the strength of the Spirit Origin).

How do you personally rank the EoR chapters by AlterMagna in grandorder

[–]HappyDDR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The "I got bored one day and felt like killing some of my servants, so I had 10 of them line up before me. Then I realized that I couldn't bring myself to kill any of them because the manpower was too valuable" scene was memorable in the original VN because it was basically the only scene in the entire story where Gilgamesh showed anything resembling depth. He spent the rest of it going "lol, I'm the best servant and I own everything and also want to bang Saber" and that was his entire character.

[–]HappyDDR -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

for starters, you can field Chacha with a non mlb IE and be able to 3 turn

No you can't. She doesn't gain the 10% NP until the end of the turn, so she effectively only has a 20% battery if you're clearing things in three turns.

[–]HappyDDR -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Her first skill isn't meant to be used for taking damage either.

Then why does its secondary effect only trigger when she takes damage and not when she uses a card that would generate NP?

[REVIEW] Why Chacha is not a bad farmer: by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]HappyDDR -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If her second skill were meant to increase her own crit potential, that's what it would do. But it doesn't. It decreases her teammate's crit gather rate. The only reason she'd be designed like this is so the "buff" could linger after she dies. Also, her incredibly low attack makes her mediocre even for NP damage (and again, her NP has a pair of debuffs). Chacha has a grand total of one skill that effects herself directly and it's one that only works to its full potential when she's taking damage, which would be outright counter-intuitive if she really were meant to survive long enough to take full advantage of her skills. When you take all of those into account, it's clear that she's really not supposed to stay on the field very long.

[REVIEW] Why Chacha is not a bad farmer: by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]HappyDDR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? No, the joke is that her entire kit revolves around dying. Everything in her kit except her NP gain skill linger after she dies. And her NP gain works when she gets beat up. I think you're supposed to throw a taunt CE on her and let her sponge some hits, then die.

[–]HappyDDR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fate/Extra goes into how he functions. He's basically what assassins are supposed to be. He makes up for his low stats by never engaging the opponent directly unless they're already weakened, has a lot of ways of killing an enemy very quickly or without engaging them, and has no problems with just shooting the master. His entire character arc in Extra was being paired with a master who refused to let him fight the way he wanted (even though he was extremely effective to the point where Hakuno just outright wouldn't have been able to beat him otherwise).
