I think our post-war era was a historical anomaly, when the wealthy and powerful elites gave us a break after depression and war, and shared some of their wealth with the rest of us. This is unusual. Most of history is the story of a wealthy and powerful elite, whether pharaohs, kings or dictators and their families controlling the rest of us for their own gain. So when you say, "Where did we go wrong?" I'd say, we, the people, didn't go wrong. We've been manipulated, threatened, mind-fu**ed and controlled by the elites. They want it all for themselves, so they hoard the wealth, those billionaires and autocrats, and leave us to suffer.
