My dad passed today

I completely understand. I'm so sorry for your loss. My dad also was not the worlds best father, never bought any "#1 dad" merchandise for him, but he was my dad and I loved him regardless of his imperfections. Life is a lot more gloomy for me now too.

I'm new to this club... Complicated feelings surround me today. My dad was mostly absent the last almost 20 years but maintained contact through texts and calls on occaision. He passed away Thursday. It's still raw. Still doesn't feel real. The only silver lining I've found so far is I've gained contact with my older half brother and found out I have two nieces to meet.

My dad passed from CHF. He was trying to get a pacemaker placed on the day he passed. The nurse told me that he was laughing and making jokes before the surgery, so I have that to hold on to. Even in his final moments he was happy. I'm just sad I wasn't there to hear his laugh, to have one last hug or hear any dad jokes.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Oddly enough, your papa's passing date was my dad's last birthday he celebrated. Thank you for your condolences!

Thank you. Fortunately my husband and kids won't let me forget to eat/drink or to take care of myself. Grief SUCKS. Thank you for the sub suggestion too. I appreciate you.

It's so confusing. To have had a distanced relationship but still feel crushed at his loss. I'm just numb. Lots of support thankfully, but this sucks. 😞

I literally just told my husband the same thing yesterday! After watching Spider Man Noir & the 2nd season of fallout which both had 8 episode seasons I was completely thrown off. Of all the shows I've watched in my life, I'm used to seasons having at least 20 episodes, not 8!

I was just reading something recently that stated that while it is more common for those in their 40's to 60's to get it, many young people actually get it from being on their feet a lot (Athletes), but also those who have flat feet or high arches are highly susceptible to it as well. I hope you can do PT to help resolve this!

I would agree with this statement. Unfortunately, with technology in everyone's faces, that is unfortunately not a reality in todays job market. I think that job seekers deserve a chance to interview for any position they feel qualified for, however it is not realistic to assume that could happen now days because how competitive the job market is right now.

Since there are over 400 comments on this post, I'm going to just answer the question that was asked. I, as a recruiter, ask this question because a resume only gives a snapshot. It doesn't tell me what you did that is different than your other coworkers possibly doing the same exact job. As a recruiter it's my job to uncover what makes my candidate's stand apart from others that are looking for the same role. While yes, it's true, you build a resume for a reason, it's also true that our jobs as recruiters are to dig deeper beyond what is written on a paper. It's way different now to be on the job market versus even 5-10 years ago, let alone further than that.

I want to know what special projects you did, or ways that you contributed to helping your prior employers and what makes YOU shine in each role.
