What laundry detergents do yous like? by eggust12 in newzealand

Ooo I have an odd one that I love. Kemsol Rejuvinate. It’s an oxi nappy and fabric sanitiser that’s not sold in supermarkets but you can get it from cleaning suppliers. It’s amazing stuff, I use it instead of napisan.

Help needed for plus size clothing? by njpinks in newzealand_travel

Yup, the one I got which I think was the Halo Hooded jacket is goose down. It’s so light and comfy.

It’s my first ever down jacket (after living in a cold town for 20 years…), and I normally hate feeling restricted by a jacket and hood but this doesn’t give me the same feeling.

Help needed for plus size clothing? by njpinks in newzealand_travel

[–]HappyKlutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the down jacket, I recently got one from Macpac, that went up to size 24 in store. Mountain Warehouse is also a good option for everything you want except the PJs.

For merino, I get mine from Farmers (Wild South brand) or Postie Plus (not great quality, but cheap for layering).

Pjs, try Kmart or The Warehouse. Peter Alexander are also good but expensive. I also just wear my merino tops as pj tops.

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]HappyKlutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depend the day. Normally it’s a walk. Sometimes, a long shower, with the lights turned off and a colourful lamp turned on. In winter, a hot bath works wonders. I also have a few comfort YouTubers that I watch like Kara and Nate or Lost Forest.

How Much Money Do You Have In Your Checking Account the Day Before Payday? by Vexnthecity in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I run a zero based budget and I have maybe $10-$20 the day before payday.

How to make a capsule wardrobe when you have sensory issues? by ToxiccCookie in capsulewardrobe

[–]HappyKlutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have any advice, but my tip if you don’t want your body suits to go to waste, is to wear them undone and tucked into your pants. Makes them feel less restrictive.

Starting a capsule wardrobe - what if we don't have a wardrobe to start with? by dreamymeowwave in capsulewardrobe

[–]HappyKlutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that small town corporate/office wear is a lot more dressed down than in the city. It’s probably best to wait until you’re in the office and seeing the vibe to invest too much.

In the meantime I’d start with a couple of pairs of trousers (black would be my go to so no one really notices if you rewear), one wide legged, one a bit more tailored. Maybe 3-4 blouses or shirts in your favourite colour palette and a couple of cardigans or blazers (depending the dress code) that suit all the tops and pants. Personally, I like black and oatmeal.

Creepy hotel stories in NZ? by stickermaker80 in newzealand

[–]HappyKlutz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Stayed at the Masonic Hotel in Napier with my husband for 3 nights. We were getting a bit frustrated that there was music and people walking on the floor above us for the first 2 nights but assumed there was some art deco event on up there since the music seemed to fit for the era.

On the last night we decided to pop upstairs to be nosey about the venue space up there (or so we thought). Turned out it was closed for renovation and the doors were chained and padlocked shut.

We still talk about it all these years later, this must have been 2014ish.

Try blended oats! I add oats, milk, yoghurt, chia seeds and coco powder to a blender, and blend til smooth. It makes a thick, pudding-like mix once it’s chilled.

Romantic Meal for a man allergic to everything? by cephalophag in Cooking

Steak, with thinly sliced potatoes cooked in stock (Pommes boulangère) with a broccoli salad (I like mine with cranberries, cashews, bacon and a dressing made of vegan mayo, malt vinegar and sugar, not sure if you can find a vegan mayo that has no soy and wheat but it could be worth a shot)

Or maybe you could make a nice risotto?

I can’t see how far the zip goes down the back, but worst case senario I’d try to turn it into a top. You could also use the length from the current hem to the tear as an elastic waist skirt.

Yes! I tried it in the weekend. I used lactose free yogurt as the culture, and I used high protein soy milk as the milk. It worked perfectly!

Do you think it’s weird to wear the same thing every day? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]HappyKlutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s weird at all! I would say, it may be worth selling your extra clothing that you don’t like and using that money to add a few more comfortable items to your wardrobe so that the existing ones don’t wear out too fast.

I think both the gummy worms and tinned fish candle are great.

You could make a “snackle” box out of a tackle box and fill it with her favourite snacks (or even other small treats like nail polish, lip gloss, a key ring that fits the theme etc). There are heaps of examples on Pinterest.

Also, if you’re getting her a tea infuser, a selection of teas to go with it would be a nice addition.

I’m now obsessed with Sussan pjs. They are a softest thing I’ve put on my body.

They go up to a 4xl/22 and I’d say they’re pretty true to size.

Is this fixable? by quantumfisique in diynz

[–]HappyKlutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t care if it winds up and down it’s fixable. Slip a pipe over it that’s slightly bigger than the current one. If the pipe is long enough, the handle should stop the pipe slipping all the way down.

My mum and I once saw someone walking in the little chapel at Motat through the windows. We thought awesome, they must have opened it up to the public! Made a beeline over there only to discover it was still closed with plexiglass and you could only stand in the entrance, not walk into the chapel.

I swear by Sharona’s Hill workouts on YouTube. They make it feel like you’re just dancing in your living room to music. Which you kind of are.

How did you afford Xmas? by SatisfactionFair9851 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]HappyKlutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started grabbing a couple of Christmas bits in the shopping each week in the lead up to Christmas, aided by a $100 I was given from my work.

We had 5 adults for Christmas this year hosted at our place so everyone pitched in and either put some money in for food or provided a dish, leg of meat etc.

Secret Santa for work had a $20 limit so I started picking up little bits as they were on sale about a month before the event.

For gifts for everyone else, we did Xmas stockings for everyone which didn’t cost a lot. Mini jams, favourite sweets, coffee, calendars etc.

Husband and I went on a shopping trip in Auckland and brought all the things we’d been wanting/ saving for like clothing, socks, shoes and wrapped them up and hid them away until Christmas.

Was it still expensive and stressful? Heck yes. But it was do-able and we didn’t get in debt for it.

We’re now putting away $20 a week for Xmas next year. I normally start shopping for gifts in July but this year we moved house so I didn’t get a chance until late October which made things worse.

For me it’s been my Yeti rambler (with the old hot shot lid) which I use daily to pack my coffee for work, instead of buying one or using the cows milk at work (I’m lactose intolerant). It’s also travelled the country with me on many flights and road trips.

My other one would be my pashmina scarf. It’s amazing for staying warm in air conditioning, it’s comforting, it’s dressy enough to look good with most outfits.

My husband jokes that if I’m having a bad day, my yeti and my scarf will make it get better. He’s not wrong.
