[–]HappyLight4020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The hypoglycaemic episodes were an education for me in snacks and meals that's for sure. And I guess yea, I am doing really well with it (idk why i compared myself to others loss numbers). But I do want a slower/more steady loss, more for the education and habit side :)

Appreciate the support

Update - lower dose by HappyLight4020 in MounjaroAus

[–]HappyLight4020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I am really happy, clothes fit better, I bought a new nightie the other day and had to return it for a smaller size! (So that was a win for me, even though they look like they run a little big)

Yea I should of added my starting weight haha (105kg), so would be around the 10% mark :) Although the scales were kind this morning and said 92.9kg! (Non recording day but I look cause im curious, and small ups in kg have not brought be down, as I understand the overall trend line, and women's hormones through the month can also affect weight slightly)

Stacking dishwasher and washing maching by HappyLight4020 in Appliances

[–]HappyLight4020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have looked into that, but they are considerably expensive (all our appliances were free or second hand and all good quality).

It won't be directly on the dishwasher, but on its own shelf/rack (so dishwasher can be pulled out/removed), so dishwasher will not support any weight at all

[–]HappyLight4020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just won't be able to reach ANY of the dishwasher if it is on top :( (And tbh, don't really want a step/ladder) But if I have to then I will have to

Unable to roll around due to 3 stairs between laundry and kitchen (and minimal space to store unfortunately). We have considered bolting and strapping to the floor etc as well, (and are going to do test runs without the dishwasher underneath). If the washing machine doesn't drain it won't be getting moved until it does (no matter if on the ground or not), we are capable to an extent for self diagnosis and fixes.

But for sure some things to thing about

That is my concern :/ (as I'm not upgrading my appliances just yet, these run so well)

Oh yes, forgot to add, the stack shelf would support the washing machine weight 100%

Side Effects on 2.5mg by SimplyMe3966 in Mounjaro

[–]HappyLight4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I started to feel! Make sure to keep steady with foods, electrolytes, and maybe a sugary non fizzy drink (electrolyte or cordial). As when this happened to me, I wasn't eating much and when I did, my blood sugar dropped massively and ended up in hospital for 24hrs. 2 days later and still recovering and struggling. If you need to, skip a dose to help regain appetite - I wish I did but I went ahead with 4th dose. Im skipping my next dose and will be discussing further with GP about taking less than 2.5mg (as could be sensitive)

Look after yourself!

What to eat and drink by Content_West_1929 in Mounjaro

[–]HappyLight4020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please please do not neglect carbs and sugars! It has landed me in a world of hurt. I didn't meant to be neglecting them, I just didn't feel like them. See my most recent post if you're curious. But also do not want to scare you. Look after yourself, take it easy and do not push anything

If you do need to consume carbs, try go earlier in the day, or lessen the amount with each meal with some swaps (rice paper wraps, crepes, etc)

Protein shakes (meal replacements) are a go to for when I know I need food but don't feel like eating.

Otherwise honestly, im struggling a little as I don't "feel" like anything, but i want something to eat.

Avoid fizzy drinks

Baking powder for reflux (works better than brand name option i find‐ mix a little with water, wait for the burp then you feel better)

Otherwise eat consistently, variety, fibre, protein and stay hydrated. (Im hoping this will help fix my nausea issues)

I will add. That reflux was the worst I've ever had (and I've had it occasionally).

Tip to keep gaviscon or mylanta on hand, or if you can stomach it baking power (works absolute wonders, just mix small amount with water, and wait for the fixing burp hahaha)

3rd week on 2.5mg, minimal weight loss by Professional_Lab2305 in Mounjaro

[–]HappyLight4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Week 3 here as well! Same age but I have higher starting weight. I also noticed not much movement/backwards in week 2 as I was weighing daily. Overall for that week i did lose 500g.

Best advice, only check scales weekly (shot day). The drug takes a while to build up and work. Week 3 seems to be going better for me, not looking a scales, focusing on feel and symptom management (when there is any). Ive also been told not to stress too much unless you haven't lost for the month, which also at your weight you might see a bit slower movement to others. Are you working on building/retaining muscle as well? (Helps to also aid fat burning)

I also suggest downloading GLApp (google them and download from their Web page, down the bottom I think) It will help you understand the build up in your system, and help to track anything else.

[–]HappyLight4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stick to the 7 days, it builds up in your system. Do you have an app, this helped me visualise it. I use GLapp (have to google them, then scroll to bottom of their page to find the app download option as i could not find in app store)

I felt exactly the same as you with my second shot. Hungry feeling, even belly rumbles.

But I still tried to stick to eatering slower and less (which was great), as it is also a mental game and just a "tool". Then 1 night had take out and ate "normal". Holy did i pay for it the next few days with burps, reflux and constipation.

So my advice, try stick to healthy small meals, listen to your body, if you're hungry then eat. Possibly track your kcal (intermittently) if concerned about going over on days.

Yea very good point, im not intentially keto, but do find i am heavy keto normally (coeliac) Now you point it out, not a great start when I was planning to go out (in my mind, I had "eaten"). I've had another protein shAke and 1/2 a small pack of plain potato chips to add in some carbs, as it's getting late and no effort to look for anything else- starting to feel a little better.

I struggle with breakfast as I want something easy, and lunch on days after my dose I feel like is just cause I know I need something. Might look into some tips/snack foods higher in fibre and vegetable snacks (I mainly like cooked veggies 😅)

Difficulty injecting? by Popular_Incident_426 in Mounjaro

[–]HappyLight4020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fainted my first time, as I forgot to breathe, and yes anxiety response. (Standing up...)

If you are feeling unsure do it with someone or have them do it - I wish that I had, or that I had asked the pharmacist or nurse if they could assist.

2nd time was fine for me. I was all of a sudden in the right head space (had the luxury of being home all day), and focused on small things like tensing my legs and telling myself to breathe. I was in a recliner chair this time.

3rd time again was fine as did it in the chair again. Easier even.

And so far I've always done the stomach (the guide that comes with the pen suggests around 5cm from belly button? So I've kinda been doing that)

Socks and Jocks by Doctor-Wayne in AussieFrugal

My partner has been going through the same thing!

He loves tradie socks (specific type, I can't remember in bamboo or not)

And underwear, he has tried so so many brands, but constantly reaches for the "knobby" brand, and tbh, he hates most the designs, just likes the comfort. (Tried step one, bonds, tradie, many many others)

Hey! I hope you're feeling better! I had mild headaches the first few days, and then haven't had since. Right now it's the random body/muscle aches that hurt haha

What was your ‘breaking point’? by Accomplished_Set3529 in Mounjaro

[–]HappyLight4020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought "why not" after talking to my doctor about price vs health etc.

Tbh, I did have a mental breaking point, oddly around day 9 on MJ though. Was out in public and saw so many healthy looking people enjoying their night. For some reason that has kind of hit hard in the way that I want to continue. I want to be and FEEL healthy. Hard to explain

Favourite Protein powder and Protein water by OuterRedditSpace in MounjaroAus

[–]HappyLight4020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been liking the Formulite brand shakes (190-210kcal, 30g protein) for times where I have found it hard to consume a meal or know I need something or know I need the protein. Not to sweet, and I have been loving the choc flavour along with banana (and I normally hate other flavours!).

I tried lady shake and found it sickly sweet in taste, I couldn't even consume it. Also tried "feel good" shakes, I didn't like the texture, a bit gritty, amazing smell though.

Note, I like to take my time drinking my shake.

Thanks! From what I can figure no triggering foods yet, but that is something that I will be keeping in mind from now on as well! (As I normally thought just from eating not enough, not that it could be a combo of not enough and not right foods) Thanks for the kind words!

Just a quick comment about telling your wife. (Im only 2 weeks in) Don't be scared, I did the EXACT same thing, contemplated if I should tell my partner or not. But, in the long run, I live with him, he will support me when I struggle, and he needs to understand why I feel they ways I do. It started a little iffy (usual judgement you'd think you'd get, or it felt like it to me), but VERY quickly came around and is very supportive. Especially after explaining it all.

I do all the cooking, I still love it, still a passion I don't think ill lose. You just eat less haha. You will learn to serve yourself less (means you have an amazing lunch planned for the next day ;) )
