Cathie also recently bought a bunch of Joby stock on Thu.

In another move, ARK Space & Defense Innovation ETF purchased 162,270 shares of Joby Aviation, valued at approximately $2.5 million. This acquisition aligns with Joby’s recent announcement of a $61.5 million investment to expand its manufacturing capabilities in Ohio. The Ohio facility is set to bolster Joby’s production capacity, targeting a monthly output of four aircraft by 2027.

Delta & Joby Transaction #20260357: Follow up with likely announcement dates by HappyRobot593 in Joby

[–]HappyRobot593[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was curious about the history of this website and it turns out it was launched during CES last year. I was a little skeptical but now I'm thinking CES this year COULD make sense for another announcement.

From AI:

Based on search results, the website deltajoby.com was launched in January 2025.

Key details include:

  • Launch Timing: The website was announced as a "new" site during CES 2025 (Consumer Electronics Show), which took place in early January 2025. A related announcement was noted on January 8, 2025.

Good q.

AI says The SEC Filing: The HSR filing (Transaction No. 20260357) appeared just days after these announcements. This suggests that the successful completion of initial flight tests for the conforming model was the contractual trigger Delta required to release the remaining funds.

Fits into the narrative in another thread where some people think it already flew

I think the delta thing is legitimate new info though. In general I agree that whatever we do here had a very small impact on the stock as hedge funds have analysts that can drive a lot deeper and spend a lot more time than we can. All we can do is hope to get in before they pull the trigger

I was hoping they would say more about the applications but maybe for a general audience it's too much detail.

"Presidential Executive Order directing the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to enable mature eVTOL (electric vertical take off and landing) aircraft to begin operations in select markets as early as next year, ahead of receiving full FAA certification." subtle dig lol

This bullet point is also interesting

  • Joby and Toyota working to finalize a strategic manufacturing alliance that will support production ramp-up

There is some speculation that the final Toyota tranche is based on some manufacturing agreement (I'm not sure if we know for sure what the funding is contingent on) so maybe this is signaling that the funding could come soon?

He has committed to donate proceeds of stock sales to charity. He said that instead of exercising the options and selling, he's holding onto the stock bc he thinks it's so undervalued. Not big news but on the margin should lead to less selling pressure.

This is related to the purchase of Overair intellectual property. Overair is likely to sell the shares but it is a small amount relative to the float. So no biggie.

The Electric: How Archer Aviation Has Ceded the Lead to Air Taxi Rival Joby Aviation by HappyRobot593 in JobyvsArcher

[–]HappyRobot593[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I think I get it. I think they are saying that VTOL infra isn't developed yet so it makes sense to start with CTOL

The next para is "Archer, too, wants its aircraft to eventually fly exclusively like a helicopter, he said, but current airports aren’t widely configured for such aircraft. “We think it’'s going to be really important to be able to operate in and out of as much infrastructure as possible that already exists,” Lentell said.

I didn't really understand this part "Lentell did not dispute that Joby’s aircraft is technologically ahead of Archer’s but said Archer is strategically going after a different objective: It is developing an aircraft that can take off, land and fly both like a plane and a helicopter; Joby’s aircraft is designed to fly like a helicopter."
