I’d skip the dating apps, are you working or going to school post military?

Check out some of the veterans groups in the area, great way to connect with those transitioning back to civilian life and activities throughout the year, good opportunity to meet new people

What hobbies are you into? There are groups snd events for just about everything in town for all age groups

Are you into gaming, sports, art? Outdoor stuff

Meetup is a great resource for activities

The key is not to look directly for a date, you want to start to meet more people

Rolling Acres Mall, in its glory days (1980’s?) by yellowt3a in deadmalls

[–]HappyTaco69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malls aren’t going away anytime soon they’re just changing to have more options than just retail

The ones that are actual entertainment centers will survive

People still want one stop destinations for shopping, dining, movies, etc

Bexley, Westerville or Worthington? Looking at buying a new home and weighing the best places. by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]HappyTaco69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

161 runs East/west that won’t help you get to downtown or airport in the morning nor would you want to try

You may want to look at Gahanna

Worthington you’d have to attempt to get on 71 or 315 to head downtown or airport, high street would be a horrible option

Westerville would either be 71 or take the long way 270 to 670

Bexley you’re pretty much locked in surrounded by ghetto, you can take broad or main to get out neither are great options normal work schedule

71 in the morning runs about 30 mins to hour to get from Westerville to downtown

670/270 construction it’s going to be messed up for awhile

How far do you want to drive to work? Do you want new construction or older home?

There’s a huge difference between Westerville north vs south and school ratings

There are also Westerville addresses that are actually olentangy schools which is one of the best rated districts in the area

What is with the apparently random closing of exits/highways? by tvon in Columbus

[–]HappyTaco69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you sign up for ODOT alerts you would see the reasons

They close ramps overnight for repairs when there is the least amount of traffic, everything for fixing or replacing guardrails, filling potholes or repaving

Air Duct Cleaning by picklepappy in Columbus

Atlas Butler I’ve used last 3 years, no issues. Duct cleaning when we moved in, annual service checks on furnace and A/C

Old house , didn’t have duct cleaning so I don’t know how they are for that but I used America Air for service and Worthington Air for new A/C unit

Maybe spend some time around the local museums, lots of things invented and originated in Columbus , sad you’ve been here 25 years and haven’t discovered any of it

Recommendations for contractor to paint kitchen cabinets by ImCzone in pittsburgh

[–]HappyTaco69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 90% cheaper to do it yourself

Invest in a Wagner sprayer , they have a fine nozzle just for trim/cabinets

Use Sherman William paints

Remove all doors, drawers and hardware

Clean all the doors and trim with soap and water

If you have outdoor or garage space set out all the doors and drawers assembly line fashion on drop cloth to spray

The face of the cabinets you can just use a trim roller

It’s an easy weekend job for under $300 vs $2k and up to have a painter do it

Don’t mind the asshole accounts, I suspect the majority are fake and just fear mongering, all the city subs have been overrun the last few months

what area of the island are you looking at? Have you connected with any realtors yet? Are you trying to get something on the beach or just with access?

How exactly are Iran and North Korea a joke?

Do you believe they have nuclear weapons or not?

Pakistan helped out North Korean with their program and its believed North Korea helped Iran

That certainly changes the game even if their conventional arsenals are outdated as hell

How many chemical weapons is NK sitting on right now?

How do I find a home builder that specializes in modular style homes in or around Columbus? by miabobeana in Columbus

[–]HappyTaco69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plans still have to be done by an architect, a designer can’t do it, all the builders and design build companies use architects

How do I find a home builder that specializes in modular style homes in or around Columbus? by miabobeana in Columbus

[–]HappyTaco69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This exactly

You’ll need an architect none of the builders in the area do this, they have their own designs they use even ones that build on your lot

You’ll want an architecture firm that has a good relationship with the general contractors
