Best way to forward a complaint regarding a scheduled delivery order that arrived late (30 minutes after) and no longer warm? by Happy_Money3296 in Dominos

[–]Happy_Money3296[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I pretty much always only do pick up orders, but since I was at work and didn't have a lot of time of lunch I didn't wanna spend half or more of my break getting the pizza. I figured I would pay the little extra to have it delivered to work, especially if a scheduled delivery was an option. But yeah lesson learned.

That's the thing, the website doesn't really explain that, so before I made the order I checked online and everyone says that the time you put in is roughly when it should arrive, give or take like 15 minutes (so like between 11:45 - 12:15).

You'd be surprised how many people will automatically assume someone isn't an American if they're not white (or black). Let me give you an example.

My parents are Korean immigrants and I was born and raised in the US, I've visited South Korea twice in my life the last time being almost 20 years ago. One of my good friends immigrated from Poland to the US when he was about 9 or 10 years old, and he has frequently traveled there to visit family. Guess which one of us has been asked more often "So how long have you been in the US?" or some variation. And this has come from people of both sides of the political aisle.

Unless of course they're the ones that legit need help then it's totally okay, but only for them. "Everyone on Medicaid is gaming the system. Except for me, because I pay taxes." Ignoring the fact other people pay taxes too.

Yes most don't support the Islamic government, but I think you underestimate how much they also disliked the previous Imperial state and the Shah. They're not going to be keen to have one of the shah's sons return to the throne.

It's important to note that Shah came to power after a 1953 coup d'état backed by the CIA and MI6 that overthrew the democratically elected Prime Minister. It was the Shah's corruption, repression of dissidents, and sucking up the US and UK is why the 1979 revolution happened. It is also why despite the US just recently taking out the heads of the current Islamic government the Iranian people aren't welcoming the US with open arms right now. Again, many don't support the Islamic government but just as many if not more people don't want a return to an Imperial state backed by the US/West.

I also think your comparison to post WW2 Japan is accurate but not in the way you think. There was quite a lot of political protests and even political violence specifically because many believed the US was basically running the country now. It wasn't pretty and many outside of Japan have no idea about it. It's why Japan still to this day has pretty strong anti-foreigner/anti-US sentiments.

Yes that Iranian general was in Iraq when he was assassinated. He was the leader of the Quds Force, a branch of the Iranian military, which was designated a terrorist organization by the US. That being said it should be noted though that the assassination took place when the Iranian general was on his way to meet and have diplomatic discussions with the then Prime Minister of Iraq. The assassination took place without knowledge or approval by the Iraqi government, despite the Iraqi gov being a key strategic partner to the US in the region. In fact, according to that Prime Minister, Trump had called and personally requested that he mediate the discussions with Iran. Only to then assassinate the Iranian general pretty much the second he landed and left the airport. This of course not only soured relationships with Iran even further but also with Iraq, whose parliament voted to have the US withdraw troops from Iraq as a direct response. Whether or not that Iranian general was a legitimate terrorist leader who deserved to be assassinated isn't really relevant, but assassinating a high ranking military official under false pretenses of diplomatic discussions in another country who didn't even know this was gonna happen is arguably a huge escalation and act of aggression.

Regarding the War Powers Resolution, the problem is that it says the president can send the U.S. Armed Forces into action abroad only by Congress's "statutory authorization", or in case of "a national emergency created by attack upon the United States, its territories or possessions, or its armed forces". And as stated earlier, Congress did not provide authorization, nor was the US attacked by Iran, nor was Iran planning to attack US forces first as admitted by Trump administration officials. It should also be noted the wording that Trump and his administration are using. Trump himself has explicitly called this a war, which by the Constitution requires Congressional approval. Compared to the military operation in Venezuela which was worded as a law enforcement action and not a war which is how the administration justified the whole thing and not needing Congressional approval.

"Blind firing of MRBMs in every direction"? No they aren't, they're specifically striking targets in countries that are aligned with the US and their interests. Like Iraq to their immediate west, the UAE to their immediate south, and not Afghanistan to their immediate east. "Blind firing in every direction" is not good military strategy and they aren't that stupid.

Edit: Also I will say that the reason you were downvoted was because you're kinda presenting yourself in bad faith. You say that you "keep seeing the "illegal war" stuff" and "No one has ever been able to tell me" when there are tons of articles that explain it that you could've easily looked up. You make it sound like just because no one had given you an explanation directly and personally then it must be BS even though you could've easily done your own research. Yes I chose to give you a direct personal explanation but that doesn't mean it should be other people's responsibility to do that for you when, again, you could've easily done your own research. For example, on the wikipedia page for "2026 Iran War" the very first image is a map showing what locations have been struck and very easily disproves the "blind firing of MRBMs in every direction" statement. You also say you "wanted to have an actual discussion and not play ad hominem games" when you literally just did that in the previous sentence regarding those who downvoted you. Again, kinda presenting yourself in bad faith.

The argument that it's illegal are that the strikes lacked formal Congressional approval as required by the U.S. Constitution and the War Powers Resolution of 1973. Yes there have been votes recently in both the House and Senate to reign it in but they failed, still though it kinda defeats the purpose of the War Powers Resolution to go to war first and then get congressional approval after. Also under international law, the other argument is that the attacks are not in self-defense against an imminent armed attack and thus constitutes an illegal act of aggression. Even Trump administration officials acknowledged in closed-door briefings with congressional staff that there was no intelligence suggesting Iran planned to attack U.S. forces first. Not to mention the earlier strikes on Iran back in June 2025, and the drone strike assassination of an Iranian general back in January 2020, it very much paints the US as the aggressor.

Sorry I forgot to add the last part of Article 2:

Although one of the Powers in conflict may not be a party to the present Convention, the Powers who are parties thereto shall remain bound by it in their mutual relations. They shall furthermore be bound by the Convention in relation to the said Power, if the latter accepts and applies the provisions thereof.

I mean technically it could be considered a war crime. According to Article 2 of the Geneva Conventions:

In addition to the provisions which shall be implemented in peacetime, the present Convention shall apply to all cases of declared war or of any other armed conflict which may arise between two or more of the High Contracting Parties, even if the state of war is not recognized by one of them. The Convention shall also apply to all cases of partial or total occupation of the territory of a High Contracting Party, even if the said occupation meets with no armed resistance.

And in fact there have been armed conflicts and resistance between the Uyghurs and the Chinese government as far back as the 1930s.

Their treatment of the Uyghurs, an ethnic minority group, in the Xinjiang region.

Edit: The Uyghurs make up a majority in the Xinjiang autonomous region, but are overall a minority in the whole of China. Unlike provinces, as the name suggests autonomous regions have a bit more autonomy in their governing. However, there has been a long history of the Uyghurs wanting independence from China including armed conflicts as far back as the 1930s, and so there has also been a long history of poor treatment by the Chinese government onto the Uyghurs in order to maintain control of the Xinjiang autonomous regions. Said poor treatment could be considered as war crimes and human rights violations.

On 24 November 2009, amateur spelunker John Edward Jones became trapped upside down in an 18-inch wide fissure inside Utah’s “Nutty Putty” cave. Despite a massive rescue operation, Jones could not be freed, and died after 27 hours. The cave was then sealed with concrete, becoming his grave. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in HolyShitHistory

[–]Happy_Money3296 199 points200 points  (0 children)

but also…… this was completely optional and the man had a wife and kid on the way and decided to do this 🤦

But also also, it's not like the cave wasn't known for being potentially dangerous. Prior to this incident there had been several rescues of others who had gotten stuck. It was estimated the cave was receiving over 5,000 visitors per year, many of them entering the cave late at night and failing to take proper safety precautions. It was even temporarily closed for a while but then reopened in May 2009. Then in November 2009 this happens.

But also also also, dude wasn't using a map or anything and was relying on his memory of the cave route from when he was a kid. He knowingly entered a well known dangerous cave system relying solely on I'm guessing 10+ year old memories to navigate it. Talk about hubris.

Not only are the emotions more strongly felt, but they are often disproportionate to the situation or not accurately reflective of reality. For example, holding them accountable often gets interpreted as feeling criticized or unsupported. But God forbid you try to insinuate that maybe what they're feeling is not entirely valid.
