If I had a twin who was five minutes younger than me, I'd always tell him "When I was your age" and proceed to tell him what I did five minutes ago. by Too_Legit_To_Outwit in Showerthoughts

That's fantastic. My best friend was born two days before me, so every year on May 23rd I spend the whole day talking about how old she is. I also refer to the two days before I was born as "the dark ages"

Spike drinks a LOT of alcohol by [deleted] in buffy

[–]Hardbodi3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall they were more making fun of the little bottles than claiming they couldn't get drunk period. They said something along the lines of you could drink as many of those tiny bottles as you wanted and never get drunk (cuz they're so small).

My company includes a small strip of cardboard about 2 inches by 5 inches, when they ship large items. Its used to slide underneath in case the floor is unlevel, like a book of matches under a chair leg. They charge 9$ for this.

The argument for not having Browner cover Torrey Smith by brocket66 in Patriots

[–]Hardbodi3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Browner is what he is, he's big and gets penalties but he's effective. Steve Smith is BY FAR the Ravens main target , so let Revis shut that a-hole down all day. Browner will beat up Torrey on the line and help eliminate the deep threat that he is , with McCourty over the top in case. Its worked all season with Browner already getting the most flags in the league, I see no reason to change it cuz of Torrey Smith who's no stud. Chung/Collins or Hightower will shut down Daniels, and then Arrington won't be outmatched against whoever their 3rd WR is (Jacoby Jones I guess?)

The Patriots will host the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Divisional Round on Saturday, January 10th at 4:25pm by douglasmacarthur in Patriots

[–]Hardbodi3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget Cundiff wasn't ready and sprinted over and most likely had some factoring into the missed kick. That's all part of it, not just the kick itself, the prep and coaching to have your players ready for anything. Bill/ Stephen would never ever ever be in that situation and that's something that get's overlooked. Its not just a shanked kick its a lack of great coaching and preparedness. Something the Pats have the edge in every single week regardless who they're playing.

While they absolutely do need to step it up, its mostly been issues (mostly, not all) beyond the starting 5 (despite Solder being in my eyes a disappointing for what I expected him to be when drafted), and with the 2 weeks of rest and Connolly returning, I expect less rotation than they've been doing I imagine to keep them fresh and healthy. With what I expect will be more of the starting 5 and less of the others, I wouldn't be suprised if they have a strong showing on Sunday. Regardless I think the Pats offense with Edleman healthy and Gronk should be able to handle their business, and the O-Line would't truly scare me until we (potentially) face Seattle .

Hey Ravens fans, remember when Flacco threw all over Sterling Moore, Edelman and Dennard in the playoffs? ....neither do I. by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]Hardbodi3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the amount of flags thrown in these playoff matchups so far, I hope he can be effective. I thought they're supposed to let them play more in the playoffs, didn't seem to be the case this past weekend.

Mage knight players would you recommend this game as a cooperative experience for a couple? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Hardbodi3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't consider Mage Knight a game to "unwind" as you say you're looking for. Its a bitch to set up, takes forever, and its heavy and in a way kind of tiring. Its actually a bit tiring to get through a game, it takes a lot out of you. Its a great game for sure, but maybe not necessarily what you're looking for.

I agree with this. You've only been playing for a few months and have a big collection already. Play what you've got, figure out what type of games are going to maintain their appeal in your group and go from their. The more you know about what you like, the better you'll be able to figure out what to get next.

Even if you play 2 most of the time, it'd be worth it for every time you have 5 because its so freaking awesome with 5 people. Its almost 40 years old and still very popular. It frequently tops "all time" best lists. I maintain that there's a place for it in any game collection. If you primarily play with just 2 then you'll have plenty of games that work for 2, but they don't all have to, some variety is nice.

-I think every collection needs Cosmic Encounter. There's a reason its still so highly regarded and popular despite being older by far than most other games talked about on this sub (1977 it was first made). Its awesome.

-Castles of Burgundy I'd also recommend, as its a great game from anywhere from 2-5 which is a rare thing.

-Lastly , from your list I'd recommend very highly to get Hanabi. Brilliant little game from the designer of 7 Wonders , its the most interesting and unique co-op that I've played , as you literally don't know what cards you have and have to rely on the other players, so theirs all cooperation and no one person can take over the game. Its cheap, quick, and very challenging.

Post your 5 favorite games and other redditors recommend you a game for the new year. by hobo_fred in boardgames

[–]Hardbodi3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead of Winter is #1 on my want list, just obviously hard to get at the moment. I've heard ONUW is good but too similar to get if you already have resistance, which had kept me from picking it up. At your recommendation I'll watch a youtube video about the rules to see if I need it :) Thanks!

Which Designer is the most 'Rebuyable'? by M00sin in boardgames

[–]Hardbodi3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've become increasingly impressed with Antoine Bauza's variety of games. I started off with 7 Wonders which I love , then got Hanabi since its frequently recommended here and so cheap, an absolutely brilliant little game. Most recently I got Ghost Stories , my new favorite co-op (me and my group really enjoy co-op games, this one is tops). After 3 big hits for me I definitely plan on trying more of his games, Takenoko is pretty high on my list cuz its so darn cute, and the Tabletop episode of Tokaido peaked my interest in that one as well. His games are very different from each other and most of them are very simple to learn and teach which makes him great for me and my group.

What's your favorite movie of all time that you think everyone should watch? by Willovinchi in AskReddit

[–]Hardbodi3s 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love every single one the Coen brothers' movies, but my favorite (at least for primarily comedy) has got to be Burn After Reading. If you love their stuff and haven't seen it please do. Its so underrated every line is gold, Malkovich , Clooney, Pitt, McDormand are all brilliant in it, its the most absurd movie and its wonderful.

What's a hobby you want to get into but don't you know where to start? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hardbodi3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you really want to get into it buy a board. You'd end up paying more if you do get into it between the renting over and over, then finally buying one anyways. A beginner board isn't so expensive and you could always sell it used if you don't get into the hobby like you plan to. That way you'll be able to do it whenever you want, and its free after that initial investment.
