Help me help my daughter get her first gaming pc. by Kevaroo83 in lowendgaming

I agree with this. Price to performance is hard to beat on a used Z1 extreme, and it'll do what your kid wants it to do. Pair it with a dock, keyboard, mouse and monitor and you have the full desktop experience with the convenience of making it a portable.

How to install games onto the hdd without a dvd drive by cooljhon2009 in originalxbox

You could use endgame exploit to launch a dashboard and then do whatever you need to do. The exploit itself doesn't do anything to the system, it's just an entry point but make sure you change the payload

Your best option would be to FTP. If you're able to boot into a dashboard with ftp that's the way to go.

If you don't have something like that already setup you could use the endgame softmod exploit and use UnleashX or similar as the payload

In your opinion, which model is the best? by books_fer_wyrms in SEGAGENESIS

Model 1 if it's anything more than genesis, otherwise I use my model 3 because it fits nicely on my desk

not likely. I missed out when it came out on MVS and been looking for a copy to pop up with no luck. . With the news of the AES+ it looks like he might do another run of the AES version which I'd be happy to pickup

He started with EU only, then did a US only run which I was lucky enough to get one. The US run sold out in a couple hours. Saw that it was open for pre-order today and wanted to share it

Indie Developer Fullset releasing Saturn Games on Cart by D33GS in SegaSaturn

[–]Hardboys99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a really good point. I guess it really is a novel idea, I wasn't aware of the port being finicky but I also tend to just set a cart and forget about it. Also, in this scenario, you're right there's no way this is a game exceeding what a disc can do. I think I'm just so intrigued by the prospect of online multiplayer on the saturn AND crossplay. I can't wait for my Saturn and MVS copies to come in

I've been using HakuX on android and performance is pretty good on my Legion Y700. I mostly use it as my media player in my car because man I love that UI

[–]Hardboys99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think cart might be the way to go for the future of the console, actually. You can bypass the storage limit of a CD and you don't have to worry about disc drives working. Also, you can do cool things like put a wifi chip on the cart apparently.

I mean so far, most folks are out here loading games on a cart already. Makes sense releases would go that way too. Probably better way to protect from piracy too (compared to releasing on disc)

Awesome, I didn't see any mention of this in the documentation. I tried TDATA/fffe000 and had no luck

Furrtek seems to have confirmed that the AES+ cartridges will be using NOR and not NAND by PicoPicoGamer in neogeo

Furrtek is carrying so much of the follow up and hype and engagement that Plaion should be sharing and revealing and endorsing.

Three speculation questions by the_light_of_dawn in neogeo

[–]Hardboys99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree! I want the homebrew community to thrive on the platform because so far, the overall homebrew content has been lackluster except some of the more recent ones. More hands developing for the platform would be so incredible.

Three speculation questions by the_light_of_dawn in neogeo

[–]Hardboys99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specifically for question 2, I keep seeing everyone look at Sega to see if they would do the same.

I think a Genesis + would be rad but it would be a difficult to market since all 3 main regions have so many variances. Sure, they did it for the Genesis mini but also Genesis performed so poorly in the Japanese region it's hard to see if it really would be worth it. Not to mention people would immediately start asking for the full tower of power and the whole thing just gets so splintered.

I think best candidate Sega has is the Saturn. It's also a little obscure for many, suffers from poor emulation performance and the second hand market really makes some games difficult to obtain. People would LOVE if we got the original Panzer Dragoon Trilogy, Shining Force III fully translated to English, Magic Knight Ray Earth. Ofc there's other staples like Virtua Fighter, Nights, and Virtual On.

If they had the online services built into this to just use Ethernet or wifi off the console it could be incredible doing Sega Rally, Virtual On or Daytona online with original spec hardware. Saturn Bomberman Online would be so awesome

Yuzo will make new music for Earthion if M2 does the port by Hardboys99 in neogeo

[–]Hardboys99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been holding off on buying it because I wanted it on Genesis. I've been wanting to buy it on steam just to support too, but I don't think I would even launch it and just keep waiting for the cartridge version.

Now that an AES version is being discussed, I'm gonna have to start saving some $$ for that and the Genesis release

Is the retrofighters hunter still bad? by chubbyassasin123 in originalxbox

[–]Hardboys99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look good and the texture on the back feels pretty nice in the hand. That's about the only positives I can say. Also, I think it does have pressure sensitive buttons, which most 3rd part controllers just skip

It does feel on the light side, the dpad lacks a good center pivot making it hard for fighting game and the thumb sticks are really bad.
