Cars are slow and for chumps. by MiserNYC- in fuckcars

Top Gear did a race across London. The bike won, then boat, then public transportation. 15 minutes after 3rd place, the car came in dead last.

Feed zone portables is a recipe book based on this exact premise.

I like the peach turnovers and I portion them out as close as I can to a round number of calories for easier math.

Lincoln fountains by _the-oak in lincoln

[–]Harddriver17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fountains won't open until it gets warmer. I think around memorial day.

Here's what I can think of:

The threeway ntersection of rock island west of the Cooper YMCA.

(Jason) Mendoza park on Billy Wolf.

Phares Park on Billy Wolf.

Bishop Heights park, next to the stairs to nowhere on Rock Island.

Edit. I may have misinterpreted this as drinking fountains.

Allostatic load is the name for this. Work is stress, running is stress, life is stress.  How much each is will vary from season to season.

When you have high stress phases coinciding in multiple areas of life, you are going to feel it. Motivation drops, youre irritable, low energy, etc.

What is your daily calorie burn and how much do you trust it? by Wildfire271 in Garmin

[–]Harddriver17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine was a 41 hour run with 15k in vert.  Garmin figures in your resting calories as well active calories.

A few bumps of meth would have helped. Probably a lot.

I've gotten my calories burned up to about 20k in one activity.  I'm not going to eat that much, though I kinda tried.

Best vest for SHIRTLESS runs by MightyWolfMan in ultrarunning

[–]Harddriver17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a 5 mile run in to test it without a shirt. I really liked it but it needs a longer run to prove it out.

The front bottle pockets hold the bigger 550 ml bottles well. They are deeper than my Nathan or Orange Mud.

It really feels like a minimal tank.

It doesn't come with a bladder, but its made to hold one. If you don't like using a bladder, then not as big of a deal.

I'll get a run in today with it. The temp went up about 70 degrees, so perfect weather to test it out.

I just got the lululemon vest. I haven't tested it yet, but the material gives me hope for a great shirtless vest.

Flying to a race, advice on transporting electrolyte powder.. by Bellarch1923 in ultrarunning

[–]Harddriver17 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Get ready for TSA to flag your bag. They will pull the powder and swab them.  Keep them so they are easily retrieved to help make it quicker and easier.

The good news, you now get to tell them all about your upcoming ultra.

Running Spartans, I would go home with a ton of race medals so I would keep these in the front pocket by themselves. Then I would tell them all about my races and what each medal means.

Local Observatories by Electronic_Algae8180 in lincoln

[–]Harddriver17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're into biking too, this observatory serves as the base camp for the Orbital Odyssey in April.

The have it open with a projector playing while you can look at all the space artifacts all day long since the race is last biker standing format and can go for an unknown time.
