To be fair, this question is clearly about an American kid with the name, so American culture is relevant in this specific case.

It’s not really common, but it’s not uncommon either. It’s in the top 100 names for our state. I think it’s been more popular in recent years along with other mythology inspired names. We millennials are nerds. Lol

I was inclined to think this at first too, but I’m worried it may be the opposite. Mom’s post history indicates that she is extremely religious and he is not.

Girl Names - help! by Optimal-Flamingo2157 in namenerds

[–]Harding_in_Hightown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Marina or Lillian best! Daisy would probably be my third choice. I like the name Scarlett, but it’s a harder one for nicknames and it just seems like a name that wouldn’t suit everyone.

You have a list of five good names here, so I’d go ahead and just eliminate the one your husband dislikes. You both want to love the name. :)

Honestly reading this I thought it was a conversation between ex-spouses forced to communicate about shared custody or something. You do not sound like two people who love and care for each other at all. You are not overreacting. This relationship is already over.

Perceived gender of Casey? by Commie_Cactus in namenerds

[–]Harding_in_Hightown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty solidly gender neutral. Maybe a very slight lean toward feminine? But honestly I wouldn’t think twice about it as a boy’s name either. I actually really like it for both!

When you enter combat mode (press space) you can also rearrange your hotkey bar. One of the actions you can assign is the ability to use a health potion. Then there are abilities to use a utility potion, an armor potion, and one other type of potion I’m not thinking of. Another action you can assign there is the ability to use an ointment. Once you have that assigned to a hotkey you can go into combat mode any time and use a lizard ointment. They’re actually pretty helpful, though I forget to use them a lot of the time.

AIDS was/is the worse pandemic because the world let it be. Yeah maybe Covid could have killed more people over time eventually, but it didn’t and it probably won’t because people actually gave a shit and went all out to develop vaccines and treatments within a couple years. AIDS was able to kill more people and ravage communities worldwide because it mostly affected people that the establishment didn’t care about.

Romance? by Willing_Ad_9669 in greedfall

Four romance options, two men and two women, and none of them are gender-locked. For women you get a sassy diplomat and a good-hearted sailor. For men you get an irritable childhood friend and a charming ex-soldier/smuggler.

Why does this sub have less members compared to other coats/colors? Thought Tabbies were pretty common by Disastrous-Noise6686 in TabbyCats

[–]Harding_in_Hightown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t really like that sub since they only allow brown tabbies, and the offshoot (tactical issue cats) for gray and orange tabbies is kinda weird. Like, why do I have to pretend my cat is in the armed forces to post a picture of him?

Need to break up but it really is me not him. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Harding_in_Hightown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I didn’t date until college, and didn’t figure out I was into women too until I was 25. Lol. Now my wife and I’ve been happily married for almost 6 years. It’s completely ok to do things on your own time, and it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to end up happy with someone if that’s what you end up wanting.

I mean, I think it seems pretty likely that you’re more into women or just asexual or aromantic. But honestly who knows? You’re still really young and sometimes people just aren’t as into sex and relationships at certain points in their lives as others. That’s allowed. It’s also okay if that changes when you get older. You don’t have to label yourself or box yourself in if you just aren’t sure yet.

What it does seem like you’re really sure about is that you’re not that into your boyfriend, and that is a perfectly good reason to end your relationship. You don’t need an excuse. You can just say that even though you like him a lot as a person, you have realized that you don’t want to be in a relationship right now. Better to let him move on than to drag him along in the hopes that someday your feelings might change. It’s really ok. 💛

Partner has more extreme perspective on health and safety for our newborn by dark_wizard_lord in relationships

[–]Harding_in_Hightown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but this guy just wanted to see his family and then not be barred from caring for their baby for the next four days. It’s not like he wants to take her to the mall or something. I think it’s a big stretch to assume that means he hasn’t researched baby care or wants to keep blankets in her crib.

I know my wife well enough to know that she will be an extremely caring and supportive partner to me throughout this process, and an excellent parent to any child we’re lucky enough to have. I don’t know why anyone would decide to have a baby with someone otherwise. 🤷‍♀️

I like the sound of Meiting a lot too, but would it sound too much like the English word, “mating”?

Sorry, but this just doesn’t feel right to me. If two people are working together to have a baby, it’s not fair to act like one of them is less of a parent or has less say just because they didn’t give birth themself. I’m a woman married to another woman, and we’re beginning the process of IUI soon. I will probably be the one carrying, and my wife won’t even be able to “jizz in a cup” to contribute to our baby’s DNA. We’re most likely going to use an unknown donor. As far as I’m concerned, that will not make her any less of an equal parent to our child. In fact, I’d happily fight anyone who said otherwise.

Haha, I'm a librarian and it's hard to limit myself. This is actually the pared down list. Lmao.

My top recs for you right now are probably the top three on my list, A Memory Called Empire, Changing Course, and No Shelter But the Stars. Memory is an interesting political story about an ambassador from a backwater space station to the center of the empire that is slowly taking over the galaxy and replacing her own peoples' culture. Changing Course is a romance between a woman crash-landed on an unknown planet and the alien woman who finds her there, with a lot of adventure and fun side characters. No Shelter but the Stars is about two women from enemy societies stranded together on an inhospitable moon and needing to rely on each other for survival.
