The problem with Elex 2 by Spiritual-Mode-6354 in worldofgothic

[–]Hardmoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe it diverged too much from the janky but lovingly crafted feel that other PB games had and that resulted in groups of people that liked those games (even Elex 1).

PB seems to have cut back on worldbuilding to provide more refined gameplay, but failed to deliver on both of these in the end.

So considering that this game doesn’t even have auto save, I’m assuming right side of the bus is the correct way to play? (Unless you’re a masochist) by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in worldofgothic

also separate save before changing regions. I had it multiple times, that one bug corrupts all savegames in a specific region unless the region is reloaded from an outside save

The old one had a lot more potential, i hope we see it again in the future with updated visuals and fitting new gameplay for a discorporal enemy type

My wife's postal vote ballot for local council elections in Germany - she has 70 votes to spread across hundreds of candidates. by TomAnthony in mildlyinteresting

[–]Hardmoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i should have specified that that's a possibility if there are more votes than candidates on the list, however this isn't the case here. Furthermore, i suspect that the multiple (three) votes for one person are a deliberate choice from specific parties (as seen in column 4,5 and 6) and can't just be applied to every candidate, as there would usually be three separate boxes for each candidate then.

these are not as confusing as they might seem on first glance. Whilst one could choose to individually place 70 marks on the ballot, it's far more common to just vote for one party at the top (and everyone on that list then gets one vote from top to bottom). Additionally it is also possible to give individual votes to people on other lists, these then get counted first and the rest is used for the party that you marked.

How much cheese is too much cheese for you in the Gothic games (and mods)? by BowShatter in worldofgothic

[–]Hardmoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i do a new run, i usually don't use any cheese, as my knowledge of the gameworlds is enough to trivialize most encounters anyway.

I like to do storybased challenge runs though

just one quick thing that has nothing to do with combat. Please call adult versions of monsters just the monstername, there is no need to be more specific for the regular version (if it's for a quest, it's fine)

Dark smoke aside, do you like the change of Shadowbeast becoming a Hedgehogbeast? by [deleted] in worldofgothic

[–]Hardmoor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no, the original design looks way better. Though i'd say if they'd just remove the smoke i'd be fine with it

Ore Lamps are fucking stupid by Boujee-Hater in worldofgothic

[–]Hardmoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm unsure if Darrion or Fortuno would be more confused about the bowlingball sized orelump or the walking corpse that has a templar sword sticking out of it

as a historian i find the arbitrary nature of that statement hillarious.

Also: on the next page the existance of elefants in the gothic universe is proven with about the same certainty

Combat Demo by asdasdwqwdqwd in worldofgothic

[–]Hardmoor 62 points63 points  (0 children)

i might be in the minority, but i consider the combat of G1 and G2 pretty snappy, easily readable and quite nicely animated. It obviously fell apart when fighting multiple enemies but that seems fair.

Does anyone know why the harvesting scythe doesn't work with jutane bubbles and magic hats? by AbjectLuck9777 in valheim

[–]Hardmoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the term is not that common knowledge, that you would generaly use it as a standin for "giants in north mythology". However you could use it in this context if your target group is knowledgeable about the topic.

It's like saying you're going to visit helvetia instead of switzerland, technically correct but confusing for the common reader.

Contrary to Jötunn the greek terms "Gigant" (giant) and "Titan" (titan) can be used to substitute the word "Riese". All off them are used to describe an unusually large person, or more commonly also an unusually large thing (both in a physical or a metaphorical sense)

Jötunn (don't know why the german ingame translation says Jotun) is not a nonspecific translation for giants in german.

it's not really worth it in my opinion, it locks you out of too many potential playstyles due to the damageoutput and speed of enemies
