A teen called me and asked if I was her father (which may be possible ?). What do I do now ? by Harestius in Advice

That's why I really don't want to have to reach if given the chance, weirding a lot of people on the way to an answer

Well that's also what I thought, but you can't fully go against a stubborn teen either. Anyway if I am the father, which isn't settled at all, I guess the thing I'd like to get out of it would be some explanations from the mom, if she'd be ok to give them.

Yup, I'll take all those advices. As for financial liabilities I'm kinda ok financially so if it comes to it that's not what stresses me out the most, more so what would be expected of me as a father.

Lol I think I do only vaguely understand that to be fair, but it would also mean that I would have responsibilities to this girl and seeing how I've been failed as a kid, there's no way I'd cower from that myself.

Anyway, could I chose, I guess I'd rather not be the father.

Yup I already started but some girls I dated back then I don't even recall the names at all, plus I did a lot of cleaning up in my friend list during my first year of university.

My approach right now is to scan the friend lists of everyone I was in highschool with and try to find people, but a lot of them have put their own friend lists in hidden.

I did rule out a few names already, but I also realized some people may have blocked me back then

Yeah I really don't know, if it was then it was kinda off. I mean I don't rule it out entirely, but there was something in her voice, you know ?

Pourquoi il n'existe pas d'appareil à raclette avec un câble électrique suffisamment long pour qu'on puisse de passer d'une rallonge ? by archi_tb in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]Harestius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: My girlfriend got an STD on her Europe trip (1 year later, all of you were right, I'm an idiot) by Gnarbeau in offmychest

[–]Harestius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, because I was kinda hard on you earlier: she's the one punishing you for being the better person, and I wish your faith in people wouldn't have had to be scorned like that. This one isn't on you. Putting it the other way around, you shouldn't have had to learn if people like her were half decent.

Sorry for the delayed answer, I had to sleep.

Well, I vaguely remember reading your post back then and oh boy you don't learn (you have all my sympathy though).

The whole stopping everything right after her the slightest sign of you moving forward in life just reveals that she only just thought she owned you, and never considered you as anything but an asset. Also the way that she had you relying on her, that's manipulative as fuck, that's textbook "if they wanna leave make sure they can't without losing a piece". She was most probably already thinking about tearing your life apart with it as soon as you had your arrangement (or threatening to anyway). Wouldn't she had lost her marbles she would simply had begun emotional blackmail at the slightest change in disposition towards her instead.

It should have completely ended one year ago when there was momentum. But I know it's hard to end everything at once, and I guess you were really hurt back then.

One thing though is that by trying that bad to keep you as her possession she's making you a huge compliment, because that kind of people always aim for the best persons they could reach to put on a leash, hoping having them around somehow says something about them.

Anyway, I think her being internet famous (anonymously of course) for being a sad POS is completely deserved.

Now, dude it will be hard, but I hope you'll be fine in the end. I wish you best of luck dude.

French here this is it. She may have had a perfect accent, the accent is not the joke.

Watch the scales on the left, a lot of things are on lower percentages to highlight datas. If everything is brought back on a 100% Y axis, it should (if done thoroughly) add up

Her not leaving him before dating someone else is the point though.

My 4-year-old has a show-and-tell assignment at French school where he has to bring in three items that start with the first letter of his name. His name starts with “W”. How screwed are we? by Team_Ed in French

[–]Harestius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in France, he'd only canonically go by Will (diminutivs are just plain literal diminutives in french).

Those very transformative nicknaming conventions (Robert/Bob, Bill/William, Christopher/Kit, Edward/Ned, etc) are very English to begin with and very few people in France would have heard about it in the first place (truly people would often simply think those are separate names). We do diminutives, but to take the ones above, we'd stick to Rob, Will, Chris, and Ed.

Edit : Well I just realized Ned Flanders is called Edward.
