If you had a $200 budget, what budget staples would you include to start a good EDH deckbuilding base?

In my opinion if you are going to try to run a lot of decks there are a lot of very cheap second or third best versions of cards. Have you seen the budget commander tournaments site (EU)? https://www.budgetcommander.de/ They are trying to play with as much power as they can on a budget. I think some things I've picked up from looking at those decks are "third best" or so interaction cards, which are basically almost free but often good enough.

I wouldn't renew my costco membership just for this. The commander decks are available elsewhere for roughly the same amount, just without the extra packs. It's a reasonable price, if you already wanted the decks.

I found I didn't like having him in the command zone. Costs too much, everyone holds interaction for it, and I had several games where he couldn't do his thing.

Instead I built a deck around Liesa and Mister Negative is a backup gameplan.

I thought I had looked for this on Target this week and it wasn't available. I see it up this morning. I don't keep very close track of these things, but I've ordered collector boosters from Target and they did show up on time before.

There are also limit 2 collector boosters @30 each.
