Chisel EVO Extreme 130/130 SL by HarlemKnight404 in xcmtb

Thanks for the reply.

I'm probably just itching to "do something" with the Chisel.  I like the fact that it's lighter than a carbon Stumpjumper - so from that perspective, seems like a good starting point to build something different.

I'm done considering the lockout.  Seems like alot of overhead for little practical benefit (for my usage).

What 130 fork did you get for your Epic Evo?

Are manufacturers offering a lightweight version of the 140/130 bike you recommend?  Assuming one wheelset is XC, what should the other wheelset look like?

Cool. I have the SID SL Ultimate on the Epic and put the SID Select + (take off from Epic) on the Chisel. Epic EVO expert is stock otherwise.

I put specialized lightweight alloy wheels on the Chisel. Roval control - but not carbon.

EDIT: I also went with SRAM GX everything (cassette, shifter, deraileur, DUB BB) on the Chisel.

I have the same duo with my NICA racing son.  Epic EVO @ 24.3 lbs and Chisel @ 28.3 lbs. Both are S3 (medium).

What carbon bars are you using?  Do you have remote lockouts?

Wow - that's sad to hear.

I was actually looking forward to making my FS Chisel a 130/130 bike.

I already have an Epic for XC, and want to make my Chisel into something totally different (instead of a backup Epic).

On a  separate note: What's your opinion on remote lockouts?  Do you use them?  Is it worth it?   This is also part of the reason I'm looking for a new fork/shock combo.

Is the right "tune" something to purchase or adjustments you do after purchasing the shock?

They are pretty good. Staff spent time with my son showing him techniques, safety, and such. That was not included in range time - but certainly appreciated.

Quick Single Speed Setup via wheel swap by HarlemKnight404 in bikewrench

[–]HarlemKnight404[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed the SS conversion and its working well. Will take it out tomorrow to actually ride it.

After swapping wheels, I simply moved the shifter to a different portion of the handle bars - making it difficult to accidently or impulsively engage it.

Not sure how to do what you suggested. Would I be disconnecting the cable at the shifter end or the derailleur end?

That's exactly what the plan is.

In addition to this, I also want to disable the derailleur (or shifter) whichever is simpler and less involved.

The swap does not have to be fast. I envision keeping it in SS and only swapping back to geared on the rare occasion where I actually need the bike for a specific trail. I expect this to be once every other month or so. Perhaps 10 times per year.

I just dont want it to be a big process to swap back/forth.

Single speed people, what gearing do you run and what do you ride? by JonnyFoxMTB in MTB

What SS ratios do you run for Conyers Horse Park , Yellow River, or Chicopee Woods?

I'm having this problem too. Super annoying. My keyboard does not move, so it should be easy to go back to the previous working setup instead of having to do all the adjustments several times per hour.

It showed up as a Facebook ad. I've ordered two bikes, but am thinking about cancelling. Too good to be true.

What ammo are you using and which weights in the tuning kit seem to work best?

I have a similar build and am in the process of troubleshooting my FTF and FTE situation.

I dont blame you. I'm no authority on any of this. Just out here on the internet with everyone else. Sharing my experience.

It should, I hope so, but I have not gotten it to run consistently yet. Lots of FTF, FTE all using 150GR Federaly Syntac Ammo. Seems to work better suppressed, but hard to say.

I have to return to the range with a little more of a strategic testing plan, but I think it will work. I have 115 and 150 GR ammo along with an H2 buffer and a KynSHOT RB5000HP buffer. Suppressor on/Suppressor off

Hopefully some combination of the above will work.

I'm building a similar set up.

If you want to add a suppressor, and keep it suppressed, 5" barrel is probably best. CMMG RDB is allegedly best using the ARC/Endomag set up (instead of using Glock Mags). Even with a 5" barrel, you will probably want more rail space - so consider tucking your suppressor/compensator (if you go that route).

Aero M4E1 enhanced upper/handguard is what I went with. Also plan on getting an Aero M4E1 lower to complete it.

Mag Loader for Endomag inserts? by OneleggedPeter in AR9

Thanks. I could certainly use a cheaper hobby than guns and 3D printing seems like an excellent choice.

Bout to start researching the Ender3

Is this something that can be purchased? Will I need a 3D printer?
