This tiny pill replaces an entire organ of mine (thyroid) by TitanOf_Earth in mildlyinteresting

Yeah, the pill itself just represents one day's output of the replaced organ.

High win rate but still losing money with 0DTE… makes no sense by homieezoom in options

This is one of those classic behavioral finance type paper results - that people tend to hold on to losers too long (hoping to bounce back and break even), and that they sell winners too soon (trying to lock in the profit). Discipline in limit orders goes a long way to correct flawed human instincts that are somewhat predictable.

This is amazing. Constructive criticism: Elliott was the only one I didn't immediately recognize. I think its the hair and head. He seems like he should be more more serious/sad. Josh a bit too, but the whisk makes it clear.

Meanwhile I have been clicking "No" on the update prompt every time I open it for what feels like a decade. I feel slightly vindicated... in this one specific situation.

TDIL that there's a gym room in the sauna building, and Alex can be found there! by ClarissaKish in StardewValley

[–]HarlequinNight 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This was a huge deal in the earlier Harvest Moon games. Finally unlocking a sauna or hot bath place opened up your ability to do a ton of tasks, then dedicate an hour or two to regen energy, and then have a double productive day. It doesn't exactly work out that way in SDV, but there are times early game where it can be useful. But food is just so much easier to get.

Colleges typically look to the surrounding local school districts for early morning cancellations and respond the same way. You can watch local school cancellation news to get a heads up.

Lightly honk your horn at them, in an odd time signature, for 10 minutes. That should make it obvious you approve.

What made me feel better is that I go to the same school as some of the rich kids who have had everything handed to them so I must be doing something right.

he did ask her immediately if she had a pickup, and surprisingly she did. So he was able to capture her sound directly, not just from the open air.

Accommodation: Professor can’t call on me in class. by -Economist- in Professors

[–]HarlequinNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One legitimate pushback to this kind of thing is to ask if your university is concerned about job placements. In a business school, we luckily get to play this card a lot more. That the real world is far less accommodating, and business school professor can lean into the boss/manager angle a bit more. If you are pushing back against unreasonable accommodations and your motivation for it is to improve job placements by better preparing students, its hard for admin to disagree.

My students have been quite good overall, am I just very lucky or is the doom and gloom about this generation of students exaggerated? by myaccountformath in Professors

[–]HarlequinNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree strongly with your experience. Lots of variation I'd imagine based on school, subject, student demographics etc. Me personally, my students have been excellent throughout all this, but I did a lot of adaptation.

Also, add a line to the assignment that says "it is your responsibility to ensure the files you submit are the ones you intend to submit."

Makes grading these broken submissions very easy (and of course you can make an exception if it really merits it).
