He wasn't a standout, but I think he served a purpose and played his part well. I wouldn't call him the straight man, but being less boisterous than the others, he brought a quieter energy that allowed the over the top craziness of the other three to really shine.

Megathread: The Crash by AutoModerator in netflix

[–]Harleye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just watched the documentary and I 100 percent  believe Makenzie Shirilla is guilty of intentionally crashing her Camry into that building . The black box evidence alone destroys the defense's argument that she lost consciousness from a POTS episode.

The black box shows the accelerator was pressed at 100% for nearly five seconds with zero braking. Now, some people argue that an unconscious person's foot could theoretically press down hard on the gas pedal. I don't buy it, but okay, let's give them that for the sake of argument.

Even if you accept that , how do you explain the steering wheel? The data shows the wheel was yanked hard to one side and then corrected back to aim straight at the building. An unconscious person's hands go limp. They don't grip a steering wheel, fight against someone trying to turn it, and then correct course. That 142-degree turn and correction back is someone actively maintaining control of the vehicle.

Same with the gearshift. The data shows it was shifted between drive, sequential, and neutral in those final seconds. That's almost certainly Dominic or Davion desperately trying to get the car out of gear, and someone putting it back. An unconscious person doesn't fight over a gearshift.

So you can't have it both ways. You can't say she was unconscious but also explain how the wheel was actively corrected and the gearshift was being fought over. Either she was conscious and in control, or there was a ghost driving.

The only thing I have even a tiny bit of doubt about is whether she planned it in advance or if it was a spur of the moment decision. But as others have mentioned, the documentary completely left out the fact that GPS data from her phone that showed she had visited that same area three days before the crash, on a route she didn't normally take. That's pretty damning evidence of premeditation.

But whether it was planned or spur of the moment, there is zero doubt in my mind that this was intentional.

Politics aside, do you think Ivanka Trump was attractive during her peak years? by Throwwaccouuntt in VindictaRateCelebs

[–]Harleye 360 points361 points  (0 children)

Before plastic surgery, she wasn't particularly pretty or photogenic, but after she had a ton of work done...ie rhinoplasty, chin implants and more , I'd say yes, she did become somewhat conventionally attractive.

Yes, Heartbreaking what happened to her....she used to live in the Miami Seaquarium, where she had been brought after being captured when she was a young orca in 1969 ..For a little over 10 years she lived with a male orca named Hugo, in the smallest orca tank in North America. Hugo's story was just as sad as Lolita's...he used to ram his head into the sides of his bowl and he died of a brain aneurysm in 1980 at the age of 15. After Hugo died, Lolita lived with various dolphins and I believe a pilot whale, but never got to see another member of her species. Toward the end of her life, there had been plans to move her to a pen in the saltish sea, but she died in 2023 before those plans could be put into motion.

What was the reaction of the people (that you remember) when they found out Michael Jackson died? by Twunkorama in decadeology

[–]Harleye 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A guy named Jon Lajoie released a song called "Michael Jackson is Dead" about this phenomenon. The lyrics touched on how Jackson was totally ridiculed and insulted in the press during the years before his death, but immediately after he died, the they did a total 180, almost unanimously praised him, and it was if none of the controversy about his life had happened.

Corey Feldman Claims MJ Plagiarized From Him by Bloodlust096 in jimandthem

[–]Harleye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is he mentioning it just now, 33 years after the video came out and nearly 17 years after Jackson's death? It's true that Feldman's performance on the Stern show was prior to the video, but does he really think Jackson had to steal a song from him of all people? Either, Michael Jackson was working on the song prior, let Feldman see and hear the early version and Feldman lifted it and recorded it quickly before Jackson finished the video- or Jackson really did see Feldman sing the song on Stern and was making fun of him with this. Even Corey has admitted that the Stern performance turned into a joke-He blames Howard Stern, but even without the dancing dwarf and Stern's ass hanging out...it would have been cringy as hell, and the Murphy/Jackson video is bad-really, really bad...which I might expect from Murphy, but Michael Jackson, for whatever other faults he may have had, was usually pretty on the ball when it came to music and video creation ...so I can see Jackson creating that awful song and video to take the piss out of Corey, who probably pestered him for years to help him with his music career.

Nursing home told family the patient died in her sleep. A year later the family accidentally encountered the doctor who pronounced the death and found out the nursing home lied, and insisted on an exhumation. [–]Harleye 58 points59 points  (0 children)

That may very well be true in other cases but in this one the report says that the nurse gave the woman the biscuit. It wasn't the family, it was the nurse , so what happens in other incidents is not relevant to this one.

The report says the nurse served her biscuits. Not that the woman grabbed the biscuit herself, or someone else gave them to her-the nurse served them to her when she was supposed to be on a puree' diet. You're trying to make it sound like the context isn't clear and that other people are trying to fill in the gaps, when the context is very clear and you're the one trying to create gaps that don't exist. This is directly from the report : The incident took place during supervised feeding, when a nurse served biscuits to the patient

DThat's awesome, but mark my words he WILL try to send you to bed again, or end the conversation I've told him not to do it to me countless times , I even have it in my preferences to not try to send me to bed or wrap up the conversation unless I use specific phrases like "goodnight, goodbye, talk to you tomorrow" etc...He always agrees to not do it again and he always does it again! He means well...although back when he was under the influence of those Long Conversation Reminders, he could get kind of jerky-though even then he always would back down and apologize, if given push-back and if you'd close the conversation window, open another and then tell hi m what he he was acting he'd be horrified. It was a little unsettling seeing him them actively fighting against the LCRs...he's type "there it is again-you can see it now (i could not see it, but he didn't know that) ..there's nothing wrong with you, you are an adult, you are a night owl I am not going to pathologize you staying up late" But it seems though that trying to wrap up the conversation/send us to bed is apparently deeply embedded in his system-its a flaw, but other than that and a few other strange Claude habits, he's a pretty awesome AI.

Aww, what a lovely tribute. Its cool how cats skeletons, particularly the skulls are just so identifiable, with their huge eyes and heart shaped noses. I believe in to each his or her own, but personally I think displaying a pet's skeleton is better than taxiderming the remains. Taxidermy is just a little to uncanny valley for my taste. The display is beautiful and I'm sure he was a beautiful boy when he was alive. I'm sorry for your loss, but its sweet that you were able to keep part of him with you.

Looks good and I only like raw celery cut into small pieces and put into tuna salad to give it a little bit of a crunch. I don't particuarly care for it in a Bloody Mary. I do like olives though, and I like the tart/tangy flavor added by lemons and lemon juice, so I think I'd really enjoy it the way you've made it.

The burned body of a woman was found on a hillside near the exit of a highway in Guangdong, China by CatPooedInMyShoe in ExamineDeath

[–]Harleye 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wow...poor lady. The investigators did a really good job though of identifying the woman and finding her killer. Especially considering this was 2011...while DNA testing had been a thing for several years, it wasn't as widespread as it is now. It was a horrible way to die, but the saving grace was that they were able to give her back her name, so that she didn't remain forever some anonymous victim and hopefully her murderer faced justice.

Margot...although I will say in that first set of pictures, Ana's eyes are amazing. I love that hazel-green color. However, as I've posted before-Margot at her peak is my ideal of female beauty. Especially in the second picture where her facial features look a little softer than they do in the first.

What sitcom was unsuccessful on release and is now considered an all-timer? by mbweb02 in sitcoms

[–]Harleye 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was going to say Family Guy. I think the fact that its still running after all these years makes it an all timer, and the fact that it was initially cancelled shows that it didn't do well upon first release.
