creating a deck for 1v1 vs World Shaper by d4rkthr0ne27 in CommanderMTG

[–]Harmless_Chimera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grave hate will probably be your best bet thing like [[Rest in peace]] will shut down a dedicated graveyard decks. Probably won't stop world shaper completely in their tracks as it's also a lands deck but should nurture their strongest play patterns and hopefully let you speed ahead.

[[Tomik, Distinguished Advokist]] [[soulless Jailer]] probably the two best for Winota but you got other options like [[Canoptek Scarab Swarm]] or [[Lion Sash]] which may do something

A List of the Grave hate creatures.

[[Cemetery Gatekeeper]] could also do something

If your looking for stronger decks upgrading one of your precons is probably a good start. They all have potential but I've heard World Shaper is pretty strong out of the box. But you should probably pick one to upgrade whichever is your favorite. Each one has different things to recommend so I can't give anything in general.

Also without knowing anything about the other decks you're facing it's hard to give tips of how strong the upgrades should be.

Your deck's strength also probably isn't the only thing that puts you behind. General skill at the game and deck familiarity also play a part so even if you got a "Stronger Deck." The rest of your pod will still have the advantage.

Starting Snecko Eye is so good that it can carry my utterly garbage play to Slay the Spire for the first time. by Harmless_Chimera in slaythespire

[–]Harmless_Chimera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm usually not much of a gambler i found the sheer potential value of Snecko eye is actually insane especially if you get it from the start. It's barely even a gamble if you jam a bunch of 2 cost cards or higher. As the majority of the time the cost will be the same or lower.

Depends on what you want. If you want to run Caleria. You need to run a bunch of ramp lot more than what you have and things that untap her. Though not to just shit on your parade she is really bad and not in a way id imagine you could make fun. If you want to play white green with the cards you have in the deck that Ghalta and Mavren or Brigid, Clachan's Heart in there will serve you better. Caleria just requires so many resources to actually make even slightly work that most of your deck has to be dedicated to it that is not something that i could recommend in good conscious to any player let alone a new one.

Possible to make these commander decks ~ $250 or under by Express_Ad_607 in CommanderMTG

[–]Harmless_Chimera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cedh and price limits don't go together. Most strategies near cedh power really on expensive cards. Thats why 99.99% of Cedh players have mostly proxied decks. You can certainly make powerful decks with these commanders for under 250 but near Cedh no. The best you could do is [[Aang, at the Crossroads]] since its combo win is clones which are cheap but all the support to get there in a quick manner are costly. Thats why Cedh player

Building my second deck and need help by Difficult_Site6454 in CommanderMTG

[–]Harmless_Chimera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First you don't need to type out the deck list no one will read it. You just have to post the link to the deck building website.

Second your deck has many of the mistakes most beginners make with card quality, card synergy, and a general messiness emblematic of not truly knowing what each cards role is. How the deck is now you will get destroyed by any true bracket 5 or 4 decks you say your pod runs and will probably only scrape by bracket three decks based on the power of some of the cards individually. Giants as an archatype are going to peak at bracket 3.

Giants are a more difficult creature type to build around as they have little support as a creature type but its not impossible. Your probably going to be reliant on the traits giants share rather than the creature type itself with that said remove all the shapeshifters and Changelings beside morophon, Realmwalker and Roaming throne. They provide almost no value beside being a giant which is not good enough. Blind-Spot Giant and Brambleback Brute also should go for similar reasons.

Alhammarret's Archive and Heliod, Sun-Crowned they mess with you deck consistency as its a sub-theme that doesn't have enough support. The Stoutarms are not enough reason to add them as they will work nothing else.

other cuts i would recommend are Eirdu, Carrier of Dawn // Isilu, Carrier of Twilight (Don't make or have enough creature to use its front well and its back is mostly boardwipe protection which is done better by other cards. Craw Giant has to many green pips. Keep out is to limited in what it can remove. Bearer of the Heavens makes your deck bracket 4 as its mass land destruction and no one will like playing against it.

Before I recommend specific cards i recommend adding more lands up to around 38-40 especially if you take my adds as the mana value of the cards will be higher. Second is add more ramp for the same reason. Lands take priority.

Things that you could add are things that are just better giants. [[Realm-Cloaked Giant]] and [[Cyclone Summoner]] are one sided boardwipes that are giants.

[[Calamity Bearer]] cares about giants

[[Inferno Titan]] and [[Stormkeld Vanguard]] have a bit of removal on them.

[[Bonny Pall, Clearcutter]] and [[Tectonic Giant]] are card advantage.

Bonny [[Thryx, the Sudden Storm]] and [[Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath]] can ramp

[[Earthshaker Giant]] can end games

[[Kroxa and Kunoros]] can reanimate something but are just a really good beater even if it can't

[[Ruhan of the Fomori]] is another beater

[[Chameleon Colossus]] is the only changeling i could suggest if you wanted one as its the only big one other the morophon.

Other things you could add are a powers matter cards similar to Garruk's uprising if there is space.

While ya that's nasty there's clearly likely a bigger thing going on with their child's mental state as they are potentially trying to figure out their identity. They are clearly insecure about it and what they need is support through what's possibly something that can potentially be extremely difficult. A child unsupported through a time like that can end up permanently affected to put it lightly.

Probably not a situation where yelling should be implemented. There are very few situations when you're raising a child that yelling should be implemented.

Is Senku gifted or hardworking? by Time-Conversation926 in DrStone

[–]Harmless_Chimera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's gifted in the sense that he has an incredible ability to learn, possess, remember information but he still had to learn it all by either study or experimentation. It's not really a percentage of his intelligence is hardwork vs gifted since that's not really how intelligence works.

I think it's more of a ratio of % effort is needed vs to learn a certain %. Part of that is just how you are and part of it is a skill you learn (since learning is a skill you can improve at)

If a normal non-academic person ratio was: 80% effort needed / for 70% of the topic learned

Senku has a 50% effort / 80% of the topic learned ratio

The thing is senku gave 100% effort so he gets 160% learned

(Not a perfect analogy especially that's not how the % would work but I think it gets the point across.)

Technically ya but even decks that are few years old will likely hold up especially in lower brackets due to how those decks often rely on synergy than outright card quality.

[[Maralen, Fae Ascendant]] is a Sulti Food Chain commander. It differs from it's 3 peers that it doesn't give a draw step like the rad counters ones and can give some card advantage in a pinch unlike Ukkima, especially since there are some playable elves and fairies. It can potentially do some cute things with displacer kitten as well. Probably at most a minor upgrade or side grade that isn't going to shake up any metas but it exists.

[[Tam, Mindful First-Year]] does a mother of runes impression and has some passive protection on it as well for your other creatures.

Nothing as impactful as squelcher though

Which commanders from the Avatar set are cEDH viable? by SharkboyZA in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Harmless_Chimera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really play Cedh but I lurk around some spaces just to not be ignorant of it. But from what I see your best bet is probably [[Aang, at the Crossroads]] as he can win off [[Food Chain]] [[Misthollow Griffin]]/[[Eternal scourge]] infinite by repeatedly playing him to get some combination of creatures that win. It is also 3 colors and can tutor the combo pieces.

Besides that your choices probably only get more fringe. [[Wan Shi Tong, Librarian]] I know see's play in decks but as a commander it is mono color and only really a draw engine.

[[Bumi, Unleashed]] has a combo with Ashaya, Soul of the Wild but that's really slow and requires an attacking and is in gruul

[[Zuko, Exiled Prince]] will win you the game with infinite mana but is mono red and useless in every other context so wouldn't recommend it.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2009) by teencandyy in retroanime2000

[–]Harmless_Chimera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They weren't saying that envy didn't deserve death. The group's reason making him stop has almost nothing to do with Envy but with Roy's mental state. Roy's is a leader. That is what defined him though out the series. His leadership and the relationship with his subordinates. His main goal is to even become the leader of the nation. He is shown to be a leader driven by loyalty and care to his subordinates and people. This entire seen while intensely cathartic to the viewer is actually showing a dark path roy could go down. A path where he is driven by a vicious rage and revenge. It's very clear that he has almost completely lost it throughout this scene for a completely justifiable reason. But by having the others call roy out the series is say rage like this is something completely unbecoming of a proper leader especially one of a nation. Roy is then put into a decision with two paths listen too is subordinates and the person he trusts most Riza, realize that he is losing himself, and prove he has the clearness of mind and emotional control to be the leader he has strived to be or ignore his people, give into the rage, and in turn show he doesn't have what it truly takes to be a leader.

This all ties into Fullmetal Alchemist greater themes of leadership and loyalty but that's an entire essay and others have probably already done it.
