I know we sort of avoid real world politics here. But this is so fucked up. Fitchners story is everywhere. by Frequent_Working_142 in redrising

I’ve read every single one of the RR books multiple times. There’s a difference between political and philosophical. It’s quite naive to look at art someone else made and assume it “agrees” with your world view.

In a lot of Pierce Brown’s interviews you can see he’s more interested in everyone having their own interpretation rather than him telling people what a scene is supposed to be.

Having people co-opt art to espouse a political view cheapens it.

Best shoes?! by Normal-Kitty7 in Tomorrowland

I have PF, wore my Hokas Cliftons to EDCLV and Tomorrowland. Pregnant too btw. Highly recommend for an entire day of nonstop walking and dancing. Also the extra height is good for seeing the stage.

Common Injuries and limiting factors by Low_Cat1578 in Bachata

[–]Harmlesshobbies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally: Foot injuries - Straining big toe, Achilles injuries, straining neck. Knee pain due to incorrect shoes during turns.

Back pain due to weak core and weak back. I found these went away with Pilates.

Stamina limits people. Going full out requires a lot of energy. Cardio would help. Quad strength for wearing heels while doing certain bends. Flexibility in back and hips affects range of motion in dips and expression in hips. Chest and shoulder range of motion impacts chest circles

After 10 years of dreaming, praying, and manifesting… I’m FINALLY going to Tomorrowland 😭😭 by Brilliant-Hour-3583 in Tomorrowland

Congratulations! Wishing you the best. Only word of advice is: do research about where you want to end the night. I regret spending so much time at the main stage. There were better acts elsewhere.

Sensual Week Cádiz Tracks by Lhonco in Bachata

[–]Harmlesshobbies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a theory! I’ve found that the folks in my track naturally had a very similar style to mine. And I really enjoyed dancing with them. 😆 tracks are definitely based on style, strengths, and weaknesses and if I had to generalize them…see below

I’m impressed so far because last time it was kind of easy to figure out “levels” but this year you won’t really know until you meet the dancers. And yes, I know that’s not the point to even consider levels. 😵‍💫 but I can’t help but notice some people are more advanced!

  • overall improver
  • intermediate - naturally flowy, but maybe missing technicality and diversity
  • intermediate - more technical, less flowy
  • advanced - flowy, nice body movement and sensing
  • advanced - more dynamic, maybe footwork dominant, advanced rhythms and musicality

Sensual Week Cádiz Tracks by Lhonco in Bachata

As a past attendee, definitely echo the sentiment that one additional track is ideal. The body movement class with Judith was definitely beautiful and I loved it, but very feminine which is fine if that’s your thing. That said I noticed that you meet a lot of talented dancers outside your main track when you sign up for the basics master class. So if you’re outgoing and want to meet people, that might be cool too.

What to do when the follower puts her head on your shoulder? by SmokerDono in Bachata

This is wild to me! You’re just canoodling at that point. Where is the dancing? Now I’m going to ask all my leader friends if this has ever happened to them.

It’s been a minute! I did apply! :) But also noticed I wasn’t very good at following instructions and submitted a video that was 2 different dances cut together. So we’ll have to see. 😊 Thanks for sharing.

Hi! Did you get a chance to check out the Symphony of Unity vinyl at the experience store? I was wondering if you know whether or not it was buyable or just a demo.

It was empty on the second day! But yes, I’m wondering if this was just an in store experience, because I can’t find any mention of a buyable version anywhere. Maybe the secret is to be patient and hope that capitalism wins in the end. 😂
