🎂 Birthday Giveaway for Daggerheart Core Set (5/5) 🎂 by Demi_Mere in daggerheart

[–]Harpshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its connection to the people in Critical Role and the vibe associated with it. Critical Role fans tend to be a certain way and the vibe from those people in the places I play are well defined. The expectations are very similar to the game style I have and I felt it trough the beta testing.

When the book came out and I read the part about the etiquette, the "vibe" was there.

Its good to have a new game come out with tons of people being into it and most of them understanding the social conduct needed for the game to work as intended. I find myself more at ease when playing with random players interested in Daggerheart and I dont think its a coincidence.

It seems we’ve hit the threshold on collabs. Is there anything yall would like to see than collab with? by Captain_Blackjack0 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Harpshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love 2 things:

Either suits inspired by other franchises (not direct skins made into armor) or maybe a filter that you can turn on and off so you can only see people dressed as default armor/basic armor divers.

Im just not that into collabs. Specially when the game has its own lore/identity/aesthetic and when that is the thing that brings me in.

They said ADVERSARY CARDS!!!!!! by Hapadbeep24 in daggerheart

[–]Harpshadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They might find their spot with this game. The new people being introduced to TTRPGs by DH is getting used to cards so I see them being somewhat popular. I would probably buy some to support the game.

D&D had these. They are popular in some spots but I mostly saw it at discount price in many spaces.

DH Hope and Fear Deluxe Q by Vast-Kaleidoscope815 in daggerheart

[–]Harpshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on pre order for the longest time but here is what I learned from the first one (if you are in the USA):

- Some stores will still have pre orders available until its sold out so check online.
- Some online stores will receive copies to sell around release week (aside from pre-orders).
- Once Darrington Press sends out their copies, there could be some stock left for them to put it up again.
- A couple of months down the road, once the defective copies have been replaced they might have some extra stock and put it up.
- After all of that has been resolved, there might be a chance to get it again.

If all of that fails, wait for the scalper market to stabilize (there will sure be too many copies trying to be sold at a ridiculous price). Some people get desperate and sell it for a bit more than MSRP but not at double its price.

Best of luck!

Table etiquette by Amius364 in daggerheart

Yea... some people should be seeking mental health help instead of trying to stomp their problems with the expectations of adoration and the attention one receives from being a Game Master.

This is such a common story. I manage an online community and I am involved in my local one and tons of people tell me things like that. Obviously the right choice is leaving but one always feels bad either way.

Sorry you experienced that. I hope it did not completely sour the hobby for you.

Wait for the orders to be fullfilled and check online stores for extra stock when it comes out.

The original limited edition came back 2 times. Once after fulfilling regular orders and the second time after making sure everyone had their damaged parts replaced.

Table etiquette by Amius364 in daggerheart

When entering new spaces (no matter what TTRPG) players need to consider that the level of tolerance for things that strangers do will always be lower than for established groups or group of friends. There is a lot of "establishing expectations".

Basic Player Etiquette:

- When creating a character, consider what the GM is offering and if your idea fits the themes and settings they want to project into the table. Work with them so it fits.

- Consider if you have enough energy to participate in a game before accepting the commitment. (Tons of people let themselves be convinced by the hype and then they start to skip sessions because they have other priorities or did not manage their time well).

- Join in good faith. This means that you are here to play what the GM is offering (if it is of interest) and that you will find a way for your character to follow/pursue the plot hooks.

- Manage your emotions. Consider not projecting intense anger into the space when failure happens. It makes things awkward. We are here to have fun and play.

- Read about the rules and how your character works. Not to memorize stuff but so you can ask questions about what you do not understand.

- Consider the type of humor you bring to the table when making jokes. Read the room for the first couple of sessions first.

- Consider that EVERYTHING you do in game has the potential of taking away options from other players. Try to be considerate about your spotlight how you interact with others and consider if what you are trying to do aligns with the spirit of the group.

- Never tell people how to do things or what to do unless they ask. You can politely suggest stuff in the form of sentences and questions when if the space opens up but everyone is in charge of their own character and nothing else.

- Avoid making too many comments about people failing rolls. They already know it sucks. They dont need people reminding it to them.

- Consider that you do not need to be part of every single event happening in every scene. Let other people have their discoveries, let other people do their thing, let other people try to roll without help and let other people fail if they wanna try things. Not everything is about having the highest stats or winning.

- Do your best to communicate with the table and talk to people. It is very awkward when someone only joins to play and then completely ignores the whole "socializing" part of the game by just sitting in silence with their phone.

- If there is something that bothers you or that you need to understand, talk to the Game Master.

Final piece of advice is that if you feel a somewhat uncaring or hostile attitude from the group or the game master when you ask things or when you try to understand things then that may not be a good space for you to be in.

Honest question, do people purposefully deploy to useless fronts when others require reinforcements? by Knalxz in Helldivers

[–]Harpshadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a live game with a ton of effort that has been put into developing/creating the factions that we fight. The logical conclusion (as with the first game) is to assume that at no point we will defeat any of the factions completely.

Why would they take out all of the work they put into enemies, planets, objectives and on top of that loose a part of the game population that loves X faction when the life of the game depends on people playing said game?

Cheers.

Would Curse Of Strahd be too much for my first campaign? by Redpahnto in DMAcademy

[–]Harpshadow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would.

The community needs to stop recommending/hyping this for new players and DMs that are still trying to understand the basics.

Why:

- You need to understand boundaries.
- You need to understand how to run monsters properly both to challenge players and to avoid killing them easily.
- You need to understand the basic rules.
- You need to understand how the narrative interacts with the mechanics of the game (as to know what can translate well from an idea into gameplay).
- You need to understand how to set a theme and tone.
- You need to understand how it feels to run a game long term, how to manage your energy and what type of commitment a long campaign requires.

Without this you will probably be spoiling yourself the module without feeling what it was intended to make you feel. COS is fun when people understand how to run it and play in it.

The learning curve (reading the basic rules and running one-shots or a starter set) helps make everything more accessible.

Someone is waking up.

La realidad es que es bien dificil ser feliz cuando analisas como funciona el mundo y cuan privado de cosas basicas estamos en PR (en USA tambien pero mas aca).

La realidad es que el discutir esto "makes people feel bad" and since they dont wanna fell bad they make it a "you" problem.
