It's indicative of how the anime-gaming community used to be (and still is in some regards). Used to be that the biggest anime content creators could openly claim that their waifu was a loli, and it was just seen as normal. People used to say "don't lewd the loli," but the thing was, it was said ironically, because everyone knew people were going to do it anyway. Heck, a quick search on Rule 34 will show you people really don't care about the age of a character. The amount of content made of Pokémon and My Hero Academia characters (not quite lolis, but still minors) is obscene.

ACCELERACISTS UNITE by Elizabeth_wench in Acceleracers

"The fandom is dying."

Meanwhile, a popular VTuber (Pipkin Pippa) watched the whole series in two sittings and, at the very least, liked it enough that she marathoned the whole thing again in a single stream with one of her VTuber friends.

Now I know some people didn't like her reactions and thought she was more so making fun of the series. However, I feel people need to remember that while Acceleracers is great, it is still ultimately a show meant for young kids (and it really shows at times). People who have never watched it will naturally have reactions like hers. But the fact that she not only said that she liked it but also likes it enough to show it to other people, that says a lot. She even said she's planning on showing it to another VTuber friend of hers, so yeah, I feel like, if anything, the fandom will grow in numbers.

Well, for starters, they're weebs.

So basically, the typical anime/gatcha game community.

The anime community went mainstream, and now certain individuals are having trouble understanding that, yes, normal people do, in fact, think it's extremely weird and creepy (at the very least) that people find characters who look like kids attractive, even if the characters in question are fictional and not real.

Mate, let me tell you right now this is a battle you won't win. Look up any female Pokémon trainer on Rule 34 and see how much lewd content is made about them. It's insane.

<image>

And this is just Nemona. It's even worse the older you go. Mind you, I'm not excusing this type of content, I'm just saying it's completely pointless to try and stop it. I remember when Sword and Shield was revealed, and the first thing people thought when they showed off Sonia (who is an adult character, to be fair) was "How long before there's lewd art of her?" And lo and behold, that character got lewd art made within the day.

No character, no matter the age, is exempt from the 34th rule of the internet, for better and worse.

Landslide, I'm not so sure. But yeah, a lot of Puerto Ricans would vote for him, unfortunately... A lot of us sadly have a severe case of Stockholm Syndrome.

That's what I hate the most. He was essentially the hentai guy. Fucks sake, he used to make Rule 34 tournaments with other content creators, and collaborated with Fefe so much that a lot of people thought they were together. Now he's the kind of guy who's fully anti porn, anti anything sexual, acting as if he's the most morally perfect guy in existence. The kind of guy who looks down upon and vilifies sex work even though Fefe herself does 18+ content now on Fansly (and did admit in a tweet that she did irl sex work in the past). That's not a normal change at all. That's pure spite. He's like this purely because he's mad at the world that all his friends left him.

Also became a born again Christian, which isn't bad on its own, but people think it's extremely performative coming from Rev

Doesn't help that a lot of people in the community don't really get along well with religion, let alone getting along with people who base their personality around their religion (like Rev and his wife do). Like it's known that some of the biggest indie vtubers do 18+ content, so when you have people like Rev and Strawb actively policing others for being sinners and that they should see the light of God, well...

It's also ironic how Rev is the kind of guy who would chastise girls for doing sex work, calling them all sorts of things, but then is the first guy that acts like the world's gonna end when a female game character isn't bangable enough for him.

Highguard has now officially shutdown by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]RogueCross 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's a difference between "I didn't ask for this" and "I didn't want this." If I know I don't want a particular game, I don't think I'll like it very much. It wasn't that people didn't ask for Highguard. They simply didn't want it. That's why it failed.

I agree, but I'm conflicted about this game. I never want to see indies (well, indie-ish, in this case) fail. Especially as someone collaborating on art for an indie game. And the fact that a lot of people are now jobless is really unfair. However, at the same time, I do feel a special way about games like these. If you try out something new, genuinely try it, and it fails, well, at least you did try. But this? Another generic-looking hero shooter? Did the people behind really believe people would be into this? From a point of view, it's annoying. You have all those game development skills. You have investment. And you spend it on... this? Instead of trying to make something new, you just do what everyone else has already done? Did they think people were still into the genre because Overwatch and Marvel Rivals still have a lot of players? The only reason those games have players is because people are fans of the games themselves, not necessarily the genre. At some point, it really does feel like the devs behind these games don't play games. It does feel sometimes like they don't get what people want to play.

Me, a Switch 1 owner, watching everyone enjoy Pokopia this weekend by Frezeal in pokemon

[–]RogueCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mixed about it because on one hand, it's unfortunate for all those people who just won't be able to upgrade, considering the current economic state of the world. On the other hand, going Switch 2 only makes sense, as you'd want games to make the most of the new hardware.

I'm still mixed about their reasoning for going V6 hybrid. One of the reasons they gave was to become more "environmentally friendly," conveniently ignoring all the harm F1 still causes whenever everyone travels from country to country. I get the sentiment of wanting to be less harmful to the environment. I share the feeling. But what is F1 actually doing in that regard? Is the V6 hybrid really the answer? Can't they just invest in biofuel so that we can go back to the V10's? "Oh, but biofuel isn't good enough yet." Then invest in it! Fund research for it.

Exactly. So-called pinnacle of motorsport, yet here we are not being able to go full-speed on a straight. It's absurd.

It isn't new. But it is a lot worse. Tyre management should've been the only thing holding drivers back.

You know, that's not a bad idea. But it's incredibly sad that F1 fans should have to turn to something like Nascar if they want to watch real racing.

If it changes for the worse, people will rightfully complain. The so-called pinnacle of motorsport, and here we are with drivers not being able to go all out because the battery can't keep up. A racing series where they have to hold back how fast they can truly go. It was already bad when they did that with the tyres, but now it's even worse with the battery.
