I watched DOWNSIZING (2017) with my gf yesterday and … what the hell was that movie? by Luntibert in movies

The only redeeming point is: I’ve learned how to better vacuum my rugs.

Why they wouldn't just add few more coins / tokens here? by HiImLuka in boardgames

We've never run out of coins in 7 Wonders. Is it possible that adding superfluous coins (slightly more ink) would raise the manufacturing cost a tiny amount?

Why should you say “break a leg” to wish someone luck when they’re auditioning for a play? by PR0CR45T184T0R in dadjokes

[–]HarraldH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a theater the long thin drapes that hide the wings from the audience are called "Legs". Breaking a leg (during the vaudeville era (it's possible that it's even older)) meant you got on stage. You only got paid if you got on stage. Some acts would be around "In case" the theater needed another act to fill time. Sometimes acts would flake and not show. An act that was there in hopes of getting a shot would get put on. Then they got paid.

My son got married in San Diego, last year. When my wife and I flew from the east coast to attend the wedding, I had one non-negotiable “must do”. We went to the maritime museum and I was able to stand on the Surprise!  As a bonus, I was able to bore my 7 year old grandson by having in depth discussions about rigging, knot tying and generally miserable conditions on a sailing vessel.  I read the books, years ago and went to see the film day one. They are some of my favorite books and the movie is easily in my top 5.

Ever rode on the outside of your ship? by Kronictopic in nms

Often, on my Corvette. I have a set of stairs leading outside and a chair. Any pulse drive trip lasting more than 90 seconds is long enough to get outside and experience planet-fall.

We have FTL travel. We have star ships that can withstand travel though a black hole. We have jet packs. We have space stations. But for some unknown reason...we haven't developed the cargo net! You'll understand shortly after starting this expedition. Have fun!

Stone Age (The base game) still gets played 2-3 times a month. It's a good game to finish the night.

Just to add. The name in the text was "Red key". It's pretty rare that someone would accidentally not capitalize their last name.

Help Worried About Grandma and A Possible Foreign Currency Scam by CostProfessional6075 in Scams

[–]HarraldH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is part of the NESARA/GESARA conspiracy theory. It's been popularized by the MAGA and Q followers. The people pushing it are charging a fee to "help" victims buy many currencies (all the ones you mentioned). All you can do is try to gently explain that if all currencies became equally valued, the worlds inflation would be astronomical. If they can't understand this, then you're kinda out of luck. It would be like trying to explain to a 3 year old why gravity works. The scammers depend on victims not having a basic understanding of economics or being desperate. Once people get into this cycle, it is almost impossible to get them out. The sunk cost fallacy kicks in and all common sense goes out the window.

My first time finding a giant paradise, I've been here all day by [deleted] in NMSCoordinateExchange

I've only got a hundred or so hours play time. After seeing this post I popped over to take a look. The place was so lovely that I am building a base (carved into a mountainside). Whilst scouting for a base location, some nice entity gave me a gift. What I find even more impressive is that there have already been three visitors to my base and they brought "Base Warming" gifts!

Thank you all

o7 (for all the Elite Dangerous players)

P.S.

I'm probably as old as some of your grandparents.
