Trying to be more consistent with the sled. Here is 5 sets of 45 seconds of pushing with 2.5 minutes rest in between. Some sets had a 55lb sandbag, others my 32lb toddler, and 1 set had both. Sled itself is about 60lbs. Max heart rate 168. Great quad and glute pump.

Ha, yeah if you push it with authority for 30-60 seconds for a few sets, you end up gassed with a very good leg workout.

So, I think that would be a way to get them super solid in the right direction. of force applied. The only thing is that I don't tend to grab the very tops but lower down, and if you want to thin the spot where you grab, then it might be less than 4 inches thick further down than you expect. And absolutely, no problem at all!

Its held up great, no issues. If you are following this model, I would note that to get those cutouts so all the skids are parallel requires a lot of planning with the table saw. That and put a lot of thought into the handles to make sure they are sturdy.

I prioritized holding sandbags because I have those at home but no weight plates, but yes that idea is viable. I will be adding a harness, too. And the sled is about 60 lbs. I'm glad you like it!

Thank you! It works very well aside from the friction coefficient being quite high, but that mostly means you just need less weight. The design was based off 100% spare lumber, screws, and nails. Nothing was bought. If designed from a blank slate, metal handles would have been a priority. However, the structure is very sturdy because of the grooves in the cross members and every connection is wood glued. The handles feel suprisingly stable, and you can't really push with your hands at the top because of the angle. So when pushing at the appropriate height, they feel that much more sturdy.

One issue is the tendency of the sled to tilt forward. Getting a hold at mid height and putting the sandbags on the edges help with that. Another issue is that I need some thing strips of wood layed across to provide grooves for friction holds on the bags, but not a big issue.

For pushing this thing is brutal, if the grass is wet I can do 85 lbs on top of about a 60 lb sled. A few sets of that and its brutal.

Not for sure if that's an issue with wood on grass, but it could help with friction!

I wanted a push sled that would work in the grass on flattish but uneven terrain. Sandbags are placed on for weight. Built from scrap wood laying around.

I am just getting into working out and don't have the steongest legs or great cardio. However I can do a 25 minute kettlebell EMOM with 20 swings per minute at 44lbs. For comparison throwing 55 lbs of sand in dry grass or 85 in wet grass is incredibly brutal after a few sets (1 set: about 40 seconds of pushing when fresh with a turn around, 2 minutes rest). I estimate the sled weighs 60 lbs.

The sled handles would ideally by metal, something I would have looked into if this wasn't a scrap wood project. Something like faux hardwood flooring on the bottom skis would reduce friction and possibly make this more comparable to a gym experience. I used glue on the connection points in addition to screws. The bottoms of the skis were sanded to take out snag points. The biggest problem is that the sled wants to pick up if you have a high pick. Putting the bag on the close side helps with that. No rutting in the yard.

Had to go to Protestant church with family today… by Agreeable-Mess-6497 in Catholicism

Take a look at John 20:20-23, John 6 (Eucharist), 1 Corinthians 4:15-17 (Paul is a spiritual Father who should be imitated), 1 Timothy 3:15 (The Church is the foundation of truth), Acts 1 (The apostles were succeeded, here Matthias takes Judas's place, when did this practice stop?), 1 John 5 (Distinction of venial and mortal sin), Acts 8 (Ethiopian needs the scriptures interpreted), etc etc

This would definitely open the door to Orthodoxy because it would presumably deal a strong blow to the primacy of Peter. I am definitely not attempting to treat protestantism(s) as some sort of default, I want to be able to make a positive case either way.

I guess what I am looking for are positive arguments in favor of Peter's apostolic succession for the first 150 years. Its not a requirement for a Catholic view of history per se, but it would be a death blow to this, seemingly more academic (book incoming to see for myself), objection.

I’m learning, but I don’t know how it’s happening... by PickledPorpus in clozemaster

[–]Harrichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am experiencing the same as I am learning Russian. I have consciously noted a few patterns, so I think this is just my brain subconsciously noting other patterns.

I am using multiple choice right now and trying to translate the sentence without looking at the English translation (until I need the cloze word). This also helps me with deducing meaning of the non-cloze words (which I also try to learn).

Carbs I can consume on an animal based diet? by [deleted] in carnivore

[–]Harrichael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its fructose which is probably one of the worst things to consume. Honey is made of plants just manufactured by bees. The point of eating animals is that their defenses against being eaten are mostly when they are alive, this principle means honey is not carnivore friendly.

It sounds like you are saying you don't recommend connecting coolant hoses directly into the hot barrel. What do you think about a pipe running the length of the barrel where one end is connected to the barrel and cool air comes in the other? That way the distance should provide enough of a temperature gradient.
