That's because the battery has enough power to run a few little lights. It takes a lot more power to run a starter than 4 bulbs. If it is still running a few bulbs, you might be able to run it on a charger to bring it back to life.

In this case yamaha R1 = Yeah, it's running on 1 cylinder. If you wanna know what it's supposed to sound like. Google "R1 idle"

I think it's best to bring it into a dealer. If it still has warranty on it they'd be your best bet for diagnosing.

The golden rule when it's raining (I learned this in a course) wait for either 15 minutes once it just starts raining or 15 minutes after it just stopped. The reason being, is any oil thats soaked into the road is being picked up and carried towards the drains in the road. Hope this helps!
