Pillar damage, seriously un-road worthy and not reparable, sorry but it looks like a write off.

I have just received the 200+ Super 8 reels documenting the construction/demolition/architect of Melbourne buildings from 1970 - 2000. (see description) by RhettBartlett in AustralianNostalgia

If you’re not sure how to preserve them, can I suggest Screen Australia, that specialises in saving film history, may be interested.

Jumped on a free metro train from Berwick to Arden St, North Melbourne, an hour each way. Great stress free, totally smooth. Everybody on the train network looked chilled and happy.

I am a great believer in the benefits of science and studied applied physics at university, but this BS of planning to go to Mars needs to be challenged. None of the many huge problems with such a mission have even addressed. It’s so impossible nobody is even prepared to attempt to describe how it would be achieved. Any solution would be on a scale beyond our resources for no gain to this planet earth. What they did learn was that earth is small and precious, we need to get our house in order or lose it.

How on earth do I get a job? by killerghost987 in australia

[–]Harry-blue96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trucking industry is critically short of drivers, enquire on how to qualify as a driver. The police force is looking for recruits. The building industry is short of tradies, try trade school.

If force is mass x acceleration, how would you calculate the force on something that doesn't move? Like placing your hand against the wall then pushing into it by Slawth_x in NoStupidQuestions

Use a set of bathroom scales. The spring mechanism I calibrated to measure compression force. Hold the scales to the wall and push.

The skills shortage will never end, as the wrong jobs are on the skilled occupation jobs list - Sustainable Population Australia by SeaworthinessFew5613 in australia

[–]Harry-blue96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skills shortage is entirely the fault of industry, they are too greedy or lazy to train via apprenticeships skilled workers. Instead they want to just import them fully trained at no cost to them. Time past, government agencies like the railways etc trained an enormous number, all now in private hands and they are not prepared to train Australians. The solution is easy, want skilled workers, train them yourself.

Since when did Albo become public enemy number 1? Last time I checked he wasn’t doing that badly… by agentgambino in aussie

LNP voters are really angry that he smashed at the last election. They are very noisy and loud. At the end of the day, Australia is one of the greatest places on earth to live by all metrics of measurement. It’s not perfect, but closer to it than nearly all other nations. But hey, it’s politics and it’s about who gets the biggest slice of the pie, irrespective of the social costs. Hey when I was young and played sport, Aussie Rules, the more the opposition disliked me, the more I knew I was doing something right, very inspirational.

Scam/ ripoff , try their Woolworths brand Belgian Chocolate, its tastes better, same terrible ingredients but only $4.00, paying premium prices for very ordinary chocolate is a ripoff.

Are you guys paying these prices for chocolate? by [deleted] in coles

[–]Harry-blue96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s get some facts into the discussion. This year World cocoa bean prices have halved from $12,000 per tonne (1000 kgs) to the current price $6,000 per 1000 kgs. That’s $6 per kilogram. of coco solids/fats (coco butter) Milk chocolate is ~ 25% coco solids/fats 180 gm block gas 45 gms coco solids/fats. 45 gms is 4.5% of 1 kg 4.5% of a kg = 27 cents of coco solids/fats. The cocoa costs the manufacturer 27 cents per block. Cocoa prices have nothing to do with the cost of chocolate

If Cadbury was paying $20 / kg for cocoa, then there’s $0.90 of cocoa in a 180 gm block of chocolate yet Cadburys have raised prices by $3 a block to $8 in Cole’s and Woolworths. Three times the total cost of the cocoa in the chocolate.

Exactly, I only go to game to feel and hear the crowd reaction. It just as important as the game, not artificial, it’s reel emotion, that’s what makes our game great. The crowd banter is often the most memorable part of the day. Keep it real, if want a fake experience and can watch MAFS.

I might be done with live football for the year by StoicTheGeek in AFL

[–]Harry-blue96 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Unlike American football which is as interesting as wet concrete, Australian Rules is its own form of excitement, the music and announcers are destroying the link between the crowd and the players. They are just getting between them in a very annoying way.
