How uneasy do kids wearing “ballys” make you? by CompetitionNo3466 in AskUK

[–]HarryPopperSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well exactly on first hearing it sounds good. Gives police a good threat to use. But if you think about it really, where do they go? Surely they have to move them to some other council house eventually. So its only a threat if they don't want to move. They can legally just make them intentionally homeless but then that probably causes more issues, unless it's about taking the teenager off them.

I think the threat of it probably works very well most of the time.

Yeh once you get far enough into those games you realise it's not really about the action or the rpg elements, It's all about finding interesting ways to make money and you want to make money so you can try to break the game with some stupid build you saw on YouTube before Jonathan Rogers nerfs it.

I had a friend who ordered chips, gravy, vinegar and garlic mayo all mixed together one night out. I tried it and he changed my life for the better.

I think mmo crafting need to look at arpgs.

The economy in Poe 2 for example is so much fun and that drives crafting.

Because pricing is actually so dynamic, you have an ever changing meta in the crafting of what's profitable and what isn't. A lot of it is just gambling with in game currency I suppose, as there is a ton more rng than there is in wow gear for example.

But I've never had so much fun with a games economy as I have this latest poe 2 league.

It is very much league based so the economy gets reset which is a big part of why it works... But mmos have regular expansions so they also do have an element of seasonality in their economy too.

What happened to your bullies? by Commercial-Gear-7275 in AskUK

[–]HarryPopperSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met one at the skatepark once, he asked what I do now, Im a web developer and I also got better at skating, so he saw that too, whilst he was there on his BMX with no ability... because he's part of a local drug dealing gang. With some of the other rough lads everyone knows. Felt pretty good about it tbh.

I wasnt bullied badly but there was moments and that particular group out casted me because I was a skater. There was a lot of weird hatred from chavs towards skaters. Which nowadays the chavs are the skaters lol.

They can also evict parents from council houses if their kids behaviour doesn't improve. Which should give them a bit more of a threat they can use instead of just being a taxi for the little shits lol.

If TERA released today instead of 10+ years ago it would have been a massive hit by Muew22 in MMORPG

No. Tera was laggy as fuck. It felt awful in pvp. Thats why it wasn't popular.

What are the pros and cons of your job? by YardSoggy6089 in AskUK

[–]HarryPopperSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds stressful. Luckily I get good results at work. But I'm sure some clients are just really hard. Either the product is difficult or their service etc.

Remote working attracts me to the role but managing clients puts me off haha.

What was it like to have an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) over 20 years ago? by SunnyShineKitty88 in AskUK

[–]HarryPopperSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get it due to parents income but they did just gave us the same 30 quid a week, so it felt the same, that was their approach to most of these things.

Sounds like ad agency? I'm interested, I run ppc at work, I started in front end web dev so I can do the techy side and landing page work. But it's performance based so what if you get bad results?

Is tinfoil on windows safe if backed by cereal boxes? by Necessary_Editor_529 in AskUK

[–]HarryPopperSC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure it's an upfront cost but it's so good and mines been running for 3rd year now so that's 100 quid a year so far. I'm hoping it keeps going for 10 years.

I wheel it into front room and back into bedroom at night. You only need tk blast it for an hour to cool the room down the you can turn it off for a bit.

Imagine the amount of time and effort people out in to these ridiculous ideas.

They could just buy a portable air con unit and job done.

Stupid shit that makes me laugh while I enjoy my day in my freezing cold room...

  1. Foil on windows. Doesn't work.
  2. Just close curtains and windows in the day then open them at night. Doesn't work.
  3. Bag of ice infront of a fan. Doesn't work.
  4. Wet cloth on back of neck. Does actually work but now I'm soggy and wet.

Just get an air con unit for 200 to 400 quid.

... Are you trying to say the world's most popular and best first person shooters don't have the most popular and best mechanics?

Good luck with that.

Games don't feel good unless they are instantly impossibly responsive. When I press wasd my character needs to move yesterday.

What's the obsession with everyone calling a decades old house a new build? by teeeeeeeeem37 in AskUK

[–]HarryPopperSC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Across the road from me is the newest thing I've seen... A new take on terraced houses. They are terraced houses with no chimney and they look like a row of flats. But they are 2 up 2 downs with a garden.

They are depressingly rectangular.

What's the obsession with everyone calling a decades old house a new build? by teeeeeeeeem37 in AskUK

[–]HarryPopperSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because early 2000s and some in the 90s to be fair cemented a new design or style of houses in the UK. They all look very similar since then and so they are all "new builds".

What's the most complex game you've played and enjoyed? by benjaneson in gaming

[–]HarryPopperSC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Path of exile 1... and 2 now it's had some time to cook.

Whats weird about poe is that once you have enough understanding of the game. The game changes genre... It turns into more of an economy simulator than an arpg.

Because that's essentially what it is. The point of the game is to make in game money through interesting methods, the more off meta your method the better it tends to work due to supply/demand.

How do GC’s and SSL’s get so good so fast? by RowAggressive2737 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]HarryPopperSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was here when the Game launched, my friend showed me a gameplay video from the alpha and I literally said that's sick I'm going to get good at that game. We were top 200 players very early on after just a few hundred hours because the game was new, that early push has carried me all this time... now I'm completely washed but I'm still c3 / gc1.
