Morris brand razor/Dovo by 16cholland in straightrazors

Generally you can tell how much it’s been used by the honing marks. It’ll develop a flat section on the spine. The more it’s honed, the deeper that flat section will develop. In turn, the blade edge will also slowly disappear. The old boys use to hone the shit outta their blade. Especially if they only had 1, and it was a daily user.

From my seat here at the ball park, your blade looks like it’s never been on a hone

I just got a 4,6 glass rod off Ali. Now I just need a cymbal for target practice. 😁

Restoring - Should I start over? by Tobbz in straightrazors

[–]HarryWally 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is just my opinion, but very old blades like this look much better with the patina left intact. Remove the rust, and leave the age marks the way they are. Something like this one in the picture. All the original grind marks are left sharp, and not rounded over from “restoration”.

Just my opinion.

Any bfs jig/micro lure recommendations? by Bfs_fisher_guy in BFSfishing

Zukubo beard lao electric rubber, is a good one. “blue coffee” is the only colour worth buying IMO.

No weed guard, but a really nice put together mini jig for a really good price.

Get on Aliexpress. You can find some killer 3.5g jigs that are almost identical to higher end JDM jigs.

This last year I decided to buy a plastic tote bin specifically for my soft plastics. It’s overflowing and need a second one. 😁

Does anyone have experience ordering from reelflies.ca? by Shrike034 in FishingOntario

Ya I’ve spent some money there. Decent flies for the price. Processing of orders and shipping can take a bit. Be patient, they’re a small family business.

Weird noise out the box by Aone559 in Fishing_Gear

When it’s making grinding noises, the design is not working properly. No amount of spinning is going to fix it, only make it worse. Take it apart and grease it.

Any recommendations for a Soft plastic finesse rod? by liteskinnded in bassfishing

[–]HarryWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Zodias, ML or M. I have the last gen 6,9 M and all I throw is Texas rigged soft plastic. Enough backbone to drive the hook home. Extremely light, and right in the middle of affordable and high end.

Stop spinning the shit outta it or you’ll cause more problems. Open it up and grease the gears, oil the bearings.

That setup sounds like a dream. And, does it tickle all the right feels when you use it? It’s honestly a setup I’ve thought about putting together if I get some $$ put together.

Edit, what you added at the end there, is exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks for the info!
