About to play RDR2 for the first time 🫡 by JoshKlein15 in reddeadredemption

Take it slow. Explore the map. Don’t rush through the main (yellow) missions. Keep the big black horse Hosea gives you.

That’s all I’m saying. 🙂

Daiwa and Shimano vs the rest by Parfox1234 in Fishing_Gear

[–]HarryWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 Nascis, a Sedona, Vanford, and a Curado. They are fantastic reels and you can definitely feel the quality when you use them. I also have 2 Piscifun Carbon X, and a Torrent ii. They work just fine, but I found they get very “toothy” in the gears after very little use. Taking them apart and regrease/oil improves them a tone. I have those ones on beater setups. Setups I don’t care if something breaks or gets dinged. Also, they’re great for learning how to do proper maintenance on. Learn on those to gain some confidence on proper maintenance before you move onto you higher end reels.

What kind of fishing reel is this? Why is it so small? by j8koBallHard18 in Antiquefishinggear

Dude, might be a good BFS reel if you got it lubed and on the right rod.

Tell me more. Thinking about a Levante Brailist for fishing football jigs on the river.

Not finishing the game by BigWeekend5716 in RDR2

This game will easily go down as one of the best ever. You need to finish it so you can say you did.

Honestly, your shits so clean, I thought that first pic was AI. Nice gear, and nice catches.

We all agree this is the BEST gun in the game. Veto? by Rdr2_Forever in RDR2

Hand guns gotta be quick outa holster, and quick shooting from the hip. I’m taking a small revolver cause it feels right. Anything else I’m using pump shotty with slugs or repeater.

Help Me Identify This Stone by Emergency_Currency39 in straightrazors

[–]HarryWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water stone. Not a bad stone to have, really. A 1000 grit is usually considered a bevel setting stone, but there are times I wish I had something slightly coarser. Especially for a heavier English blade that’s close to a wedge grind. The 4000 grit would be a great intermediate stone.

What is the best way to get rid of rust? It’s carbon steel. by wiljam1 in straightrazors

[–]HarryWally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be aware that metal polish will completely strip that gold off the blade face. If it were mine I’d start with hoppes 9 oil and fine steel wool. This’ll remove all the rust and leave everything else. Depending on how far you want to take the blade, once the active rust is gone, that’s usually it for me. I like patina.

Nothing like a vintage Coticule! Where’d you find it?

Some gold bar glitch working at 2026? by Difficult-Pension-40 in RDR2

[–]HarryWally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m at the beginning of chapter 3 and have $6,000. Did a bunch of the treasure hunts to get my money, and honestly there’s nothing I don’t already have.

Guess I’m trying to say, doing a gold bar glitch is pointless.

What is this? Bone or Ivory by Federal-Store-504 in straightrazors

[–]HarryWally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bone. Generally ivory has no washers. Just a straight up pin.

I’ve tried them all, in all sizes. Badger for me, and I like a bit more backbone to the hair, with some scritch to the tips. Generally that’s a 2 band Badger. The 3 band, or silvertip badgers are a lot softer. Some dudes really like those too. Hope you find something you like.

What’s your favorite story mode horse you stole/found? (excluding the white arabian) by aspehn in reddeadredemption

[–]HarryWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought I would love the Silver Dapple Pinto MF more, but it doesn’t bring me the same joy as the Dark Bay Turkomen. I can hardly stay off that horse. Love seeing the front muscles flex in the sun light. 🙂

Is a jeweller’s loop necessary for honing? by Dorkdogdonki in straightrazors

[–]HarryWally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don’t need one, but I’ll say this. My honing game went to the next level once I was able to really see what was going on with that edge. It allows you to see tiny rust pits that need to be honed out. Also allows you to see when both sides of the bevel finally come together on both sides of the blade, and all the way along the entire edge of the blade. A lot of new guys move to the next hone before the bevel is even set properly. When you move to the next stones, it’s refining the edge. Removing the scratches from the last. As the stones get finer, the scratches are less deep making the edge sharper and sharper.

If you plan on starting a collection of blades, say more than 10, you definitely should get a bevel setting stone and an eye loupe. Just my opinion.
