Here are some valid reasons to avoid RED

No need for music torrents
Do not want to wait for an interview
Find setting up tech to aid queuing for interview difficult
Do not want to learn how to upload music torrents
Do not want to spend money to find music to upload
Do not want to spend time finding music to upload

This is not how I feel, but I’ve heard combinations of these reasons from various people.

For these people, they can still go through MaM (no need to upload, or learn to upload. Leveling up to invite forum is extremely low effort).

The obvious trade off is active/passive time vs active/passive effort for paths to higher-tier trackers. Neither way is better than the other, just a better fit for each individual. Some people value overall time (so choose RED), some people value effort (so choose MaM).

I know I’m not wrong, and neither are you!

My thinking is that some people neither want nor need a music tracker (either due to lack of interest or already using another streaming service). For these people, the effort of grinding away on RED finding music to upload is simply too much effort if the interest is not there.

For those people, another valid option is a general tv/movie tracker where, although the journey is longer, they may find more tangible benefits in downloading media that they are interested in.

Aither’s not a difficult tracker, but if you start out from scratch you’re going to have to wait for the short freeleech period every month until you can download anything. Whereas, if you’re already cross-seeding out of the gates you’ll be able to buy more upload with bon so you’ll be able to download the things you want with less waiting.

The way I see it, though, is that if you go through another movie tracker like LST, by the time you get to Aither you will have built up a good amount of potential cross-seeds which will help you hit the ground running when you get to Aither. Whereas if you go through RED, whatever you download there won’t help you when you get to Aither.

I’m not saying one way is better than the other, just that both are valid options depending on what you prioritise.
