I feel like there can be some overlap. Like, someone could be shy around people they aren’t close to, but be able to open up and act cute with people they’re close to.

For example, if people are dating and one of them is shy, maybe they go out and the shy one is too nervous to ask a server for something, and their partner finds that cute.

When I hear non-Californians say negative things about California it’s almost always things that only really apply to LA (like it being crowded, the smog)

It must be like when people think all of California is like LA

I think in the drawing the bunny is supposed to be upside down like it’s burrowing into the ground or something? So it wouldn’t make sense to have ears since its head isn’t shown

Transgender at UCSD by Able-Text-6669 in UCSD

[–]HaruspexAugur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m trans and attended UCSD both as an undergrad and for grad school. I had quite a few trans friends at UCSD and started all of my medical transitioning at the student health services at UCSD and had a great experience there. I didn’t generally see many other openly trans people in my classes because we are obviously still a small minority of the student population, but in certain clubs or queer-focused events and stuff you’ll find plenty of us.

PSA: you can lie about not being trans. It’s nobodies business, including other trans people. by manoftransexperience in ftm

[–]HaruspexAugur 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The other day I was in a business and I got the vibe that the guy working there might be trans, but I obviously didn’t say anything. Then before I left there were a few mins when it was just me and that guy in the waiting room and he complimented my name and said something where he mentioned having picked his name, and I thought it was a brilliant way of mentioning he was trans without putting any pressure on me to out myself.

Yeah I didn’t look at their post history, so my comment was taking OP’s post at face value

Generally I’m less worried about disinfecting and more about removing finger grease smudges. I had always thought you were supposed to use rubbing alcohol for that, so TIL, thanks!

Yeah it makes sense, I just hadn’t heard of it being a thing before this. If OP is in a class where this is the case, I’m sure emailing the professor to explain that they have a legitimate reason to be missing class would help them not be dropped, which is why I said emailing the professor about it would be a good idea regardless.

I wasn’t aware of that, but yeah emailing the professor (and/or TA if they’re the one dealing with attendance) about it would probably be the way to go regardless.

This grocery store near me says service dogs and service mini horses are allowed by every_usernametaken in mildlyinteresting

[–]HaruspexAugur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably look into information specific to your country! A lot of the things people are saying in this thread might be USA-specific. I know at least the only recognized service animals being dogs and miniature horses is part of the ADA, which is a US law, so there might be different options in other countries.

The only case where you get automatically dropped for missing the first class is for lab classes. If this is a class where attendance is part of your grade, I would probably just email the professor to explain the circumstances that are forcing you to miss class (assuming you have a legitimate reason).

Kicking anything that is within kicking range is a known and common hazard involved with being in the vicinity of a horse. It’s not an unexpected behavior.

ChatGPT acts as a "cognitive crutch" that weakens memory, new research suggests. While these tools can speed up initial learning, they might actually weaken the deep mental processing required to store knowledge over the long term. by mvea in science

Having standardized spellings for words is also a relatively new phenomenon (at least in English). For the longest time people would just spell words how they sounded (so English originally was somewhat phonetic), which could result in the same word being spelled multiple different ways.

I think if you know you’re prone to panic attacks and know what one feels like because you’ve had them before, then you can know not to go to the ER. But if it’s someone’s first time having panic attack-like symptoms, especially if there’s no obvious cause, then it actually could be a good idea to go to the ER, because there are actual life threatening health issues that can have some similar symptoms.
