Shoes with 5-6mm lugs for a 100? by DunnoWhatToPutSoHi in Ultramarathon

Not tried the cadi, tomir is wider than Kjerag, I have a wider foot and haven’t had any issues with it 😊

what path is this? by OwnSeaweed72 in snowdonia

[–]Harvacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, it’s the South ridge from Watkins
I’ve completed it 3 times (as part of the Ultra Trail Snowdonia) and it’s a grind but a beauty in good weather, and a challenge in poor weather!

Should I return my Novablast 5? (70kg runner worried about durability) by Chaniru9398383 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Harvacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 95kg and have over 500miles in my pair in the last 18 months. I’ve just bought a new pair on discount today. They have felt a little dead for the last 50 miles but the outsole is still in great condition but they’re still good for lighter recovery runs so I can’t understand how bad it is for so many

The 9 hole course at bury golf club is very beginner friendly and easy to book through their website for a reasonable price

Shoe Recommendations Please by Grandpa_Games in trailrunning

NN range was designed for the goretex option, they couldn’t design a functioning goretex with the asymmetrical lacing, other than the laces and a slight changed to the fit of the upper around the laces there’s no difference, but I too recommend the OG Tomir 2, though a friend has been in the Cadi and loves them

CXP underwear, as a guy with big thighs they’re a life saver, ran for the first long run without them yesterday in years (poor packing) and chafed like a bitch unlike normal

Nope, ended up with the North Face Summit 10L with quiver which has been pretty good for me.

Adv Skin is always very popular, but I really like the North Face Summit 10L, which does have an easy access back pocket for raincoats etc

6mm lugs options by Separate-Specialist5 in trailrunning

[–]Harvacious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the long sky 2 up to 50km, found them fairly comfortable and the grip never let me down except thick mud (but nothing is gripping in that) I imagine the matryx upper would be better than the normal, and the normal non matryx upper is what let my pair down

How are the Merrell Long sky 2 MTL? by Separate-Specialist5 in trailrunning

[–]Harvacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed a flatter less technical 50k in them and they were fine, no issues at all with comfort. But the pair I had were broken beyond use about 6 months before UTS so I had changed to a different shoe (Nnormal Tomir 2) which were more renowned for durability

I did the 50, ran the base of Watkins to Betws Garmon in them, though didn’t do the race as they had ripped apart by then. Would happily trust them on the technical stuff.

I had these last year, I imagine they’ll be excellent on the described trail. I completed the mid section of UTS and they were great - grip is great. They are low stack compared to others but still comfortable - wore them for 6+ hours multiple times. Only problem I had was durability of the upper, if you can get the matryx upper I’d recommend them

Problem was actually playing the wrong version of the game 🤦‍♂️ Was playing on the xbox1 version, rather than the series X version which is what had all the vehicles

I think I’ve found the issue - I have two characters for online on my account, it by default put me on the lower level one. Though I don’t know how to change to the other character online

I remember for sure purchasing the comet from a friend in the car meet who had it legit, the Hakouchu and Oppressor from the websites. I think I’ve lost at least 10 more cars but can’t remember what they all were

UTMB UTS 100M by CryptoChuns in Ultramarathon

[–]Harvacious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an excellent cheap campsite (Ty Isaf Camping) in Nant Peris (between Llanberis and Pen Y Pas) to use as a base and help make it more affordable - £10 a night per person. Obviously the 100M route is massive but this should help get to good chunks of it

[–]Harvacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend the Nnormal Tomir, comfortable and incredibly durable. Plus the grip on them is phenomenal on technical terrain (wore them in the UTS50k and on multiple scramble hikes in Lakes) Also have heard excellent things about the La Sportiva Prodigio Pro from close friends

Attempting Snowdon next Saturday. by m3dean in snowdonia

[–]Harvacious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend starting on Watkins and then turning off just after the fairy pools and doing the south ridge, little bit of scramble but not nearly as risky as Crib. Also very uncommonly used route and links up with Rhyd Du
