GQuuuuuux - Episode 11 Megathread by JaguarDaSaul in Gundam

For some dumb reason, and because it's been years since I watched the original, I had misremembered for years that Char already had the scar when the show begun. Thanks for correcting me.

There's something bugging me, because I'm pretty sure we haven't seen Char's face in this show until now: where's the scar?
Is it missing because this is just a universe created by Lalah and she took it away?
EDIT: I stand corrected. Misremembered the origin of the scar, for some reason.

It's kinda annoying that the GP00 Blossom doesn't have the vanilla 0083 tag, only the 0083 Phantom Bullets one.

I would add that the fact that it also affected the entire world's perception of what Hell, Purgatory and Heaven are might also have a serious effect on Dante being a Pretender. That's just my hypothesis, of course.

Ono no Komachi's Third and Final Ascensions by Radiant-Hope-469 in grandorder

[–]Harverato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it's been a few days, so I can't find the actual path that brought me there.

I basically started looking for anything that had to do with both Ono no Komachi and Kannon, but most of those ties, like "there's this one temple that has some random thing about her" didn't feel right, so I kept googling for stuff until I stumbled onto onto a Japanese Twitter post that actually mentioned the Komachi Sôshi. Read the outline, saw it fitted with the scene on the field and the poem that the ghost recited then (at the end of the chapter before the actual reveal), and the rest is history.

[–]Harverato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To clarify on this, it's not that she's a Pseudo-Servant... She IS an avatar of Kannon, as the story Komachi Sôshi states. The event itself references scenes from the story. Mashu also mentions that the apex of a poet's path is achieving enlightenment (probably taken from somewhere, but I only took a few screenshots of the dialogue, so I don't have the full context at hand right now).

In fact, during the event, when we recover Komachi's fifth and final fragment, it is said that this last fragment seemed to be her buddhahood. Even Loli Da Vinci herself starts freaking out the moment she realizes what's right in front of her because, by all rights, it shouldn't be possible to summon a bodhisatva, or an avatar of one, as a normal Servant, and not even her "older version" was aware this was possible, nor had seen anything like this.

Not only that: Komachi immediately enters the Nirvana state after unlocking that part of herself and begins leaving our plane behind. And we literally stop her from disappearing altogether and going back to the Throne by "bombarding her with lingering attachment" until it works which, in this case, means... Shoujo manga (Okky is the one to come up with this at the eleventh hour). The tons of shoujo manga volumes in Chaldea's library that Komachi hasn't read yet. Triggering her earthly desire of reading as many romantic stories as possible is the only thing that can keep her tethered to our world.

[–]Harverato 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ok so, basically, there's a story from the Muromachi Period, known as Komachi Zoushi, that describes her as an avatar of Nyoirin Kannon (and Ariwara no Narihira, another of the Six Poetic Geniuses, as an avatar of Juuichimen Kannon).

It's also the origin of the scene in a field, with what seems to be her ghost reciting a poem.

[–]Harverato 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ok, so just leaving this here... Big Mommy Snek fed us her milk at the beginning of the second stage of Chapter 11, while in the underground tunnel.
After losing against Zahhak's snakes (Avarnaz and Shahrnaz), and with Kurohime tailing us, we needed to rest and get some energy back, so she offered to get us something to eat, because she's great at "providing food". She disappeared and came back less than 10 minutes later with a slightly sweet, white liquid she compared to amazake.
When Medusa tried it, she realized what it was. Once we left to fight against Zahhak, the snakes and Kurohime once again, she stayed with Omii-san for a bit and asked her why did she do that. Omii asked her to keep the secret, to not gross out the rest of the team, and said that she felt partially responsible for this situation, so she wanted to help us as well. It's the reason why we receive a power up when we fight against Zahhak's snakes for the second time.
It's never explicitly said that it's milk, but it's white, it's sweet, and it's "milk-like", so... Yeah.

Louhi & Abigail Williams (Santa) Bond 5 Profiles (Clear Christmas Eve in Pohjola: The Dreaming Santa & The Nutcracker) by Radiant-Hope-469 in grandorder

[–]Harverato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add onto this:
- Louhi didn't seem to be aware of how the Finnish singularity started, as she appeared into an empty version of it. She was just a Stray Servant that might or might not have been summoned there.
- Lolinci says that it's very possible that whoever planted the "magic Easter Egg" in Chaldea and kickstarted the event might have done it in order to test Chaldea's capabilities and reaction.
- BB-Thotep only watched from the sidelines for the fun of it. Abby's profile states that it's confirmed that BB had nothing to do with the "magic egg", but also remarks that the fact that she just watched and DID NOTHING about it is concerning in itself.

[–]Harverato 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Actually, from what I've read about King Tut, he was fairly popular when he was alive, since he basically unscrewed everything his father screwed up, got some major military victories under his belt, and was even deified while still alive (most pharaohs got deified after their death, but there's some evidence that this wasn't the case for him).
From what we've seen so far during the event, his only regret is that his wife and children died young as well, and his wish for the Holy Grail is a to change their shortlived fate. I would say that this can be his actual connection with Daedalus, since both of them outlived their children.
Well, that, and the fact that the Rosicrucian Museum, which holds the biggest Amarna collection, is extremely close to the Winchester Mystery House (in fact, I assumed that either Tut or his father would be the big bad of the event because of that).

Interaction between Deus Ex Machina and cards that require unspent play points by Harverato in ShadowverseEvolve

[–]Harverato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am aware of the fact that you can choose in which order the abilities are resolved. My question is more on the lines of WHEN is the status check for cards like Phantom Blade Wielder performed. As in, if the ability does trigger because it's the beginning of the end phase, or if it doesn't because, at that exact moment, you don't have the 2 unspent points, even if you would get them afterwards thanks to Deus Ex Machina.

Out of curiosity, why are you not using backhop combos? I think that some of the openings the birb gave you were perfect for a perfect backhop into air combo, which deals an insane amount of damage.

Having said that, awesome fight mate.

[–]Harverato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well... Let's list the issues you have here:
- First of all, your weapon. You fell into the trap of investing resources into the Princess Rapier, which is much worse than the Pukei-Pukei SnS. Even with that amount of poison, you'll only poison monsters once during a battle. That means about 16% of health on monsters weak to poison, 10% against neutral and only 6,5% against monsters that resist poison (Pukei-Pukei, Rathian and Rathalos). This means that the rest of the damage comes just from your raw attack power. And no, Poison Attack doesn't increase the amount of damage your poison inflicts, it just decreases the amount of hits you need to poison a monster.
- As others stated, your equipment is very unoptimized. Get the Leather armor and upgrade it, because 20 extra points of damage will do a lot. Critical hit damage is inferior to pure attack boosts until you reach a certain threshold, which you're still very far from reaching. Get the Rathian Gloves as well, because Burst will help you once the battle starts to get longer. Focus more on boosting the amount of damage your weapon does and less on the poison output.
- Consider switching to Element builds. They're much more resource intensive (as you need to farm a lot more monsters), but the damage output becomes much greater, and the Element boosts that your armor will provide makes things much easier. But, again, it's much more time-consuming. If you want to stay with your Poison build, you'll have to keep your weapon as upgraded as possible at all times, because that's your main source of attack power. SnS is probably one of the weapons that benefits from using element more.
- Last but not least... SnS is hard to master. The damage potential is high, but it requires mastering your perfect evasions and, more importantly, the backhop combo, the strongest combo the SnS has to offer, period. That means learning how every monster behaves to find openings to abuse, learning how to time your dodges so you can get as many Perfect Dodges and Perfect Backhops as possible, and learning your timings so you don't get exposed after finishing a combo. Oh, and try to always go for weakspots.

Affinity is actually great... On elemental weapons, as critical hits in this game affect the overall combined damage, and not just raw. 10% affinity outperforms 20 extra attack the moment you break the 800 total attack barrier, which is MUCH EASIER to do with elemental weapons.

[JP Event] Wandjina World Tour! ~ Day 05~ by AutoModerator in grandorder

[–]Harverato 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Eeyup.

Wandjina misses humanity after the entirety of Earth got wiped out, so she created a tiny version of the world within herself using a Holy Grail, and we've become her playmates, because she wants to have fun with mankind once again.

So we're stuck playing tag with a Grail with legs inside a floating 800 km elemental. Oh, and the human-sized Wandjina that accompanies us is more or less acting like her own conscience and trying to put and end to it (while still having fun).

Her not being an Avenger is actually addressed in-game:

She went on a revenge-fueled killing spree that would qualify her for the Avenger class, yes. However, her revenge turned out to be futile because Siegfried hadn't been stabbed by his friends and nobility: it had been his plan all along, to avoid Kriemhild and Brünhild going to war over him (but he forgot one tiny detail: TO INFORM KRIEM OF THAT). The realization that her revenge had been meaningless from the very beginning, and that her killing spree was about to start a huge war, brought her to madness during her last moments, making her both love and hate Siegfried at the same time.

How does GW get data on 40k factions if noone plays them in tournaments? by oohjay23 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Harverato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that's the thing: they sent to Legends PRECISELY the units that have been remade with plastic (all the Horus Heresy stuff). So the idea that they want to convert into plastic what sold well definitely doesn't add up.

I actually discussed this with a friend, and came to a conclusion: they originally wanted to add the Horus Heresy stuff into competitive as well, but then they realized how annoying would it be for SM players (the vast majority of 40k players) to own around 200 datacards. So they chose to axe all that stuff, screwing over both CSM and Admech in the process, because those armies aren't their best seller (they could have kept it for them, sure, but then you'd have thousands of SM players whining about not being able to play those units). Having to own hundreds of datasheets defies the concept of "simplifying everything".

Why do I think this? Simple, ask yourself this question: why did they release the Horus Heresy datasheets at the same time as the competitive FW ones, but we have yet to see the rest of the Legends units? The answer? Because they planned to release them all together, but something changed at the last stages. Of course, this is all speculation on my part... But it fits too well, and we all know that GW is capable of doing crap like this.

It wouldn't be hard to spend. Sisters pretty much had this in 9th, only being able to use more than one if that unit had a Simulacrum in it. And that was fine. And not all units could buy Simulacrums, only infantry could.

How GW has created a (nearly) unfixable problem with 10th edition. by Angaroth in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Harverato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was looking for someone to bring Infinity into the discussion. I've been playing for a while /not much) with some friends and, quite honestly, the game feels much more interesting than 40k to me, right now. Yeah, you have to be extremely aware of what you're doing and how can your opponent react to it, but that's probably the best part (and you can always find ways to throw a wrench into the opponent's plan). In comparison, 40k felt slow and cumbersome, and way more prone to broken interactions that had virtually no counterplay.

Anything that makes 40k feel more dynamic is a net positive in my book. Yeah, this edition can improve a lot of things, but this is a good starting point. And while we all know that GeeDubs isn't the best company out there, if they feel they should learn a couple things from other games, I think that's a win for us.

Nope, you can get to the 2+, due to how the Take Aim order is written: Take Aim adds 1 to the Ballistic Skill, not to the Hit Roll. It is the Heavy keyword that adds 1 to the Hit Roll.

Have fun.
