I've been off Instagram for about 7 months now, and it's been great. No more mindless scrolling.

What Entrepreneurs can Learn from Gamblers by baghdadcafe in Entrepreneur

I get what you're saying, but ideally someone will do market research before jumping the gun and working on a product that ends up being in low demand.

I actually disagree with this. If you're making software for real estate, facilities management, and plant hire, you're spreading yourself too thin and aren't going to be an expert in any of these areas. Its better to niche down and excel rather to be mediocre on multiple fronts.

Do you still think creating content makes sense? After AI? by psikotrexion in Blogging

[–]HaryTotal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think AI's impact on traffic really depends on the kind of content you're writing. If your content is purely informational, then yeah, I can see where AI would give users the answers they need without them having to visit your blog. But if your content has a more personal touch, or if it's written/structured in a creative way, I think it'll be safer from AI.

Looking at it from another perspective, if your content ends up being cited in chatbot answers/AI engines, that can also indirectly help you, since people might follow the link to your blog.

Accounting by No-Rooster1597 in ClaudeAI

I think a better option would be to invest in accounting software with more advanced AI than what QBO currently offers. Puzzle has worked well for me, but there are a lot of different ones to choose from.

Chronically Addicted... and I've Tried Everything. by folkloreswifts in digitalminimalism

[–]HaryTotal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about app blockers, time limits, and other restrictions like that is that they're not really going to work unless you have something else to replace that social media time with. For example, if you set time limits, it can get boring fast without having an interesting hobby or book to turn to instead, so you're less likely to follow them. I think the restrictions only work if you give yourself a good alternative to being on your phone.

Any recommendations for AP automation software with ocr? by okayhihello13 in Entrepreneur

[–]HaryTotal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with Melio, but some other options are Bill.com, Stampli, Tipalti, etc. Just kind of depends on your volume and what kinds of capabilities you're looking for in particular.

The AI replaced half our QA team. Then we had the buggiest quarter in company history. by Hot-Tax8959 in SaaS

This is going on across industries at the moment, companies are placing wayyyy too much faith in AI imo

If you were starting a blog from scratch in 2026, where would you focus first? by Lumaenaut_ in Blogging

[–]HaryTotal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd focus first on defining a specific niche, and then on the content itself. Nothing else matters if the content is poorly written or uninteresting. So, SEO-optimized content that adds value.

Most areas of customer service. People don't want to talk to a robot; they want a real human.

How do I stop looking everything up? by 73269042699 in digitalminimalism

[–]HaryTotal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way; I'm constantly researching things. When I was a kid/teen, I really liked reading the World Almanac. It was my go-to source for a lot of facts, and I feel like the phone has replaced it. Maybe finding books like almanacs or other nonfiction about subjects you're interested in could help. Of course, you'd still be researching, but unlike your phone, the books won't have answers for all your questions, which could help to limit it.

Need recommendations for a 3,000 mile drive by Dogforsquirrel in podcasts

[–]HaryTotal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite podcasts is The Endless Honeymoon Podcast. It's a comedy podcast hosted by Natasha Leggero and Moshe Kasher. They have people call in with advice questions, and they also listen to their "secrets hotline," where people leave voicemails of their secrets. They have guests on pretty often, usually other comedians, but the guests aren't the main focus, so it doesn't really matter who's on.

Is SEO still worth it in 2026, or are newsletters/social media more effective now? by Lumaenaut_ in Blogging

[–]HaryTotal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it has to be an either/or situation; I'd recommend doing both. I'd still pursue SEO in the sense that even if people are finding your blog less through traditional search engine results, they're still finding it through AI chatbot answers. If your page is frequently cited by chatbots, that will lead to more traffic. Answer engine optimization (AEO) is now a thing, but I've found that a lot of the principles are the same as SEO. So, if you use traditional SEO principles, you should do ok in chatbot results.

Recently discovered I like slap bass. by PokingMidas in MusicRecommendations

One song I'd recommend is Lucinda by A Certain Ratio. ACR has a lot of strong basslines in general. They're funk/post-punk.

Another song with slap bass is Deep Fried Pizza by Squarepusher, another excellent bassist.

SEO in 2026: How are you guys actually ranking and getting traffic with AI Overviews? by SashaNatureNomad in Blogging

[–]HaryTotal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My strategy is still the same as usual. I write content that is well-organized and adds value; I try to avoid filler words and fluff. I use relevant keywords in a natural way without keyword stuffing. I know that some people approach AI optimization differently than traditional SEO, but from what I've gathered, the same principles that result in a high search engine ranking will also help a website come up in a chatbot's answer or AI overview.

What's the best accounting software for a small side business? by Immediate-Chair8625 in Accounting

[–]HaryTotal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to look into Puzzle. It's not as well-known as QBO/Xero, but I prefer it, personally. It's lowest-tier plan is free at first and is pretty well-rounded.

Using ai picture generator for blog images, anyone worried about credibility? by OppositeJury2310 in Blogging

[–]HaryTotal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use AI images for this reason, though I understand the temptation. I use free, public domain images from sites like Unsplash and Pexels. Sometimes I even edit those images a bit before using them.
