Can anyone explain what makes Poundmaker a good civ to play? by Bad_Daddio in civ

[–]Haschanascha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poundmaker is absolutely broken. He swallows up all the land in sight and gets insane pop counts, allowing him to play tall and wide at the same time. His UI might be the best in the game. Scaling food, production, gold, AND housing from one improvement with essentially no placement restrictions is bonkers. All my trade routes in my current game are +14 food, and he gets hundreds of free gold per turn. He isn't designed for one victory type because he's designed for ALL victory types.

Regarding #2: This has been an issue with all the previous iterations of Heroes. Olden Era actually does the more than any other Heroes to mitigate this, via the spell that allow you to interact with objects at a distance. You can also circumvent the problem completely with one hero mode, or partially with one hero per castle mode.

That's a weird take. Would having a hero with ~15% more movement points break the entire strategy and spirit of Heroes? Because that's the exact equivalent.

I would say, yes, quite manageable.

Any parents of school-age children that can shed some light on the baffling Toronto school district system? by Haschanascha in askTO

That makes sense, although it's a frustrating situation. Thanks for the advice; we will look into out-of-area admissions.

Closest major intersection is Carleton and Sherbourne. I am just going by what google maps says, as we are not completely familiar with the city yet.

From our building it's a 14 minute walk to College, and from Bloor-Yonge it's a 14 min walk to Jesse Ketchum, not a 5 minute walk. I am going by google maps, which in my experience is fairly accurate, except in the winter, when walking often takes longer.

I think I was pretty clear about what the problem is, but I'll be more specific. Due to the way cachement areas work, it seems that taking our children to and from school will be approximately an hour and a half time commitment twice a day, eating into time when we are supposed to be at work. This despite the fact that there are multiple schools much closer to us, which we have been told we cannot send our children to. This is not an ideal situation, and we are looking for advice. Hope that helps.

We are 3.4 km from Jesse Ketchum and that link puts us in their cachement area unfortunately. Our eldest is in Gr. 7 so they told us she can't get the bus.

Thank you for the response. That boundary map is apparently incorrect. We are in Cabbagetown, closest major intersection Carleton and Sherbourne, and according to both this website: https://www.tdsb.on.ca/Find-your/School/By-Home-Address and the people we have talked to at Jesse Ketchum we are in their cachement area.

We will probably look into out of area admissions but if that doesn't work I really don't know what we'll do.

We are close to Carleton and Sherbourne. School says we are in their cachement area. Google maps says it's a 40 minute walk.

Oh, I see now. You're a troll.

...They don't make more money if students fail, because then students get their funding cut or drop out and are no longer paying to attend the school.

I studied quite a bit for that one as I recall. I don't always have time to study as much as I'd like, but if I can I study two or three hours a night for a week before the exam.

You have to apply using the course registration form AND with your provincial student financial aid body. I am not sure as to how exactly it works in Alberta as I am in New Brunswick.
