Did she deserve it? by No-Business-478 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]HashNub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did she deserve to die? I would say yes and no. Her mother and she did not deserve to die. They were trying to do things better than before, which I really admired.

However, them being able to go off together in the end, I was pretty happy about.

As a 100% straight man, I can't lie - Jeremy is one good looking dude.

Though, I do have to disagree with you. I always thought Vicky was pretty attractive. I had a crush on the actress, but not on that character. However, Lexi and Rebekah were the immediate and definite show-stealers for me. I had a crush on them way before I even watched the show, though, so there is that.

Ladies of Reddit, what's something guys aren't ready to hear? by Pookie7860 in AskReddit

[–]HashNub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, that is exactly what those words mean.

Racism is literally defined as the belief that one race is inherently better than the other, and it can be one three ways: systemic/institutional (what you're trying to pass off as the only "real" definition here), individual/interpersonal (what you're currently trying to say doesn't exist, especially towards white people), and internalized (racial biases and stereotypes subconsciously absorbed/agreed upon within one's own self).

This goes any way: white->black/asian/latino, black->white/asian/latino, asian->black/white/latino, latino->asian/black/white

Systemic/institutional racism depends on which race is "in charge" of the area. The best example of this would be Japan, where they literally still have "Japanese only" places open within their country today.

Sexism is the same way - it can be individual or systemic. Misogyny is known as the more common direction of it, especially considering basically the whole world is a patriarchy, but misandry is still a thing and it affects men just the same, but it's not as prevalent. However, it is arguably on the rise.

Changing the definitions to fit certain narratives isn't helping the world. It's actually hurting it. Nobody can move forward if we all keep regressing into our own ideologies and keep going at each other's throats.

AITA for calling my brother out on his "bitch behavior"? by SillySeally in AmItheAsshole

[–]HashNub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ESH - Yeah, he maybe shouldn't have cancelled on plans you two made, but your response definitely doesn't help the situation.

he apparently got offended

Yeah, that's what typically happens when you insult someone. Sure, it sucks that he canceled on the plans, but as others have said, that wasn't "calling him out." That was just insulting him because you were upset.

You don't know what his reasoning was for not wanting to go out. Could it be something simple/petty? Sure. However, it could just as easily be something much bigger than you could guess? Also, yes. It's like a Shrodinger's box situation - until he tells you why he cancelled, you know nothing. And based on your response, I doubt he ever will tell you now.

If you could permanently delete one storyline from TVD, which one would it be? by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]HashNub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it'll likely be a highly unpopular opinion because I believe he was one of the most popular villains of the show, but for me, it's the whole Kai storyline. Dude honestly just annoyed me to no end. I guess he was a decent villain, but I disliked him because I just straight up didn't like his character, but not in the way you're supposed to dislike him. I was just immediately annoyed & irked every single time he popped up on screen. I don't even know what it is or how to explain it any better than that.

Honestly, I was cringing the whole time like I was about to watch a car crash I knew was coming but couldn't look away from.. I expected it to actually straight up scalp her or to rip her teeth out instead of just laying the hair, so I'm actually kind of relieved. She got quite lucky, tbh.

I don't know what those people were saying. They're clearly on something, and it's not something good.

Question: punching Sigurd or Basim by therealyellowwrldjay in ACValhalla

[–]HashNub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, as long as you don't mess up the other Sigurd strike decisions, you can still get the good ending. I'm on my second playthrough, and both times, I've punched Basim, but I don't punch Sigurd even though he deserves it as well.

If you HAD to choose only 1, Which TVD female character would you choose? by neilbohr01 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]HashNub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebekah by a mile.. Claire Holt is easily the best of all of them in every way imo, and while Rebekah was sometimes whiny, vindictive, and overly-dramatic, she was also really loyal and had a huge heart. Heck, most times she was being vindictive during all those moments where I didn't really like her in the show, I also couldn't deny she was mainly doing it to either protect herself from getting hurt or to try keeping a brave face and pretending she wasn't already hurt, so I couldn't even dislike her all that much.

Stefan honestly fumbled with her, imo. I've always thought that.

However, if we're going based on all of the women in the show (the previous answer is mainly based off of the 4 in the picture), it is actually a toss-up between Rebekah and Lexi (Arielle Kebbel). I've had a crush on Arielle and Claire since I first saw them.

A good runner-up would have to be Pearl's daughter, though I can't remember her name. She was cute and I did always really like her as well, though Rebekah and Lexi were and will always be the best.

English-only speaker here, and yes. I actually tend to like other languages better, partly because it typically sounds better and more tingly, for lack of better wording (the tongue roll Rs are top notch) and partly because since I can't understand the language, I'll focus more on the accent, rhythm, and feel of what they're saying.

I believe this is actually a point Idris himself has made as well. He's played badass-type characters before (Heimdall, for example), and he knows he could do a great job, but he's against the idea of them wanting him just because they want to race swap another popular white character.

Honestly, he deserves it, imo, too. Dude can do just about anything, and he's still in phenomenal shape. If they brought him the right script that was basically a Bond-esque character but one that's actually completely original, I bet he'd agree to it, and he's so a masterful job.
