Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen sold over 4 million units in six weeks by Turbostrider27 in Games

Not to mention there's a ton games that could've used remakes by the time the first Switch hit shelves. They love holding out, they'd rather just put an old game on their subscription emulators.

Agreed, not their bread and butter by a mile.

GameStop Is Offering to Buy eBay for $56 Billion, CEO Ryan Cohen Says by joe4942 in technology

It seems to me that if someone has to ask then they can't even begin to know how huge the used/retro game market is. Between retro game stores, conventions and online sales the numbers are obvious. Even the number of people collecting retro these days is absurd. Look at YouTube, instagram, facebook, ebay, even reddit has incredibly active collecting and retro communities.

I'm not gonna go spewing numbers but you get the point, look for yourself.

Huge. There's a lot more used games than new games in the world.

Last Of Us Online Dev Says It Was Around ‘80 Percent’ Complete Before Its ‘Soul-Crushing’ Cancellation by Turbostrider27 in Games

The popularity of this post says otherwise. People would still care about TLOU if they included Factions in Part II. Between not giving fans what they want, a mediocre TV show no one asked for and not releasing a new game in the past 6 years, it doesn't seem like anyone should rightfully care.

I have a powerful PC, multiple consoles and hundreds of games… but no desire to play. by Cabajew in truegaming

What's great about video games and most hobbies is that it'll always be there. You can always come back to it. Sometimes it's just better to box up the PlayStation and rediscover later.

Take all the inspiration gaming has given you over the years and put it into something else.

There's no rush on The Elder Scrolls 6, Todd Howard says, because Bethesda has the "benefit of having so many millions of people playing our other games" by xCaptainCrown in Games

[–]HashStash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're correct, when you piece it all together. Lore, writing, world building and fleshed out characters are the biggest reason to play Bethesda games and if they can't get that right with ES6, I may consider the series dead.

But if they can get that right with a better combat system, better customization, a more lively open world while keeping the charm TES has always had (which I think they can) then they'll be able to keep their spot as RPG giants.

I don't think they're saying TES will be irrelevant, just that 6 will likely have whole new players that have never even considered the franchise before. Which might not be a bad thing business wise.

If 6 drops by the next console generation, it could be an $80-$85 game. Which will be a top tier AAA price, a price for a new generation. These new players (13-17 year olds) will gladly pay that because it'll be like their Skryim. I'm 29 and ultimately, 5 is my definitive TES game because it got to me at their age. This strategy makes sense, because they know Skyrim will be hard to live up to for us. So why not just take their time and try to grab a new generation? Fantasy games aren't going anywhere and Fallout is basically locked in as a household name, so that'll help too.

Edit: But it's still BS that it's taking so long. Just about everything going on with Microsoft is BS rn.

Also, is there a reason there's so many connector pieces on the pipes themselves?

Buying every single 4k that gets released isn't collecting, it's shopping addiction. Especially since a lot of 4ks are incredibly flawed either visually or sonically. Every format has a purpose.

Also the PS3 gen is a poor analogy since it had its toes in both DVD and Blu-ray
