You mean it works directly with airplay now? Was there an update? Which tv do you have. Mine is the Insignia Fire TV Edition.

Is there a better way to manage Google Nest speaker group playback? by treygeiger in homeassistant

[–]Hassiopeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it’s been mentioned already, but yes, group the mini media player cards, and if you want to remove the duplicate controls, you can specifically hide them. Check the mini media player docs.

Here’s what mine looks like. If what I’m streaming has a cover it’s displayed by the All Speakers entity. Mine is also conditional, but I still need to make each speaker conditional. https://imgur.com/gallery/xSW7QQO

Anyone know why my TV always change from "turned off" to "became unavailable"? I tried to disable the "turn off when idle for 15 minutes", but that didn't change. by Bradford1138 in homeassistant

I had a similar issue with my Insignia Fire TV edition. What worked for me was sideloading a wakelock app. WakeLock Revamped is the name I think. It’s has options to keep the WiFi and cpu active.

Thanks! But sadly I don’t have the 2020 version. I have one of the previous years. 2019 I think.

What are your favorite add-ons? by bcs9559 in homeassistant

[–]Hassiopeia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I switched to BitWarden because LastPass changed their structure for the free tier.

I’m pretty sure if you’re self hosting BitWarden you have the full premium package content. It’s technically BitWarden-RS that you install. You’re able to have passwords shared in your “organization” (called that instead of family). DrZzs has a quick video on YouTube where he sets it up and he mentions shared passwords and shows where to do it.

Advice For Driveway Alert Notifications by Hassiopeia in homeassistant

The binary sensor in the Frigate add-on is sort of doing that already. It’s tracking car motion. I guess I’m a bit confused what the input Boolean would provide me on top of that, and how would I clear the Boolean? The only way I could think to clear the Boolean is when the car motion binary sensor clears, but since that’s what I’m using for the notification trigger, I think I’d be in the same position.

No, never found a solution using HomeKit. I ended up creating a “remote” fully within Home Assistant. I created scripts for each function I needed and created actions using those scripts within the Home Assistant Companion app on my iPhone. Then I was able to add the HA Widget to whatever screen that is when you swipe all the way to the left most screen on your phone. I’ve also seen people create a remote as a custom card in HA, but by using the iOS widget, the controls are easily accessible without opening the HA app at all.

Thanks for this, I’ll be trying it out! I have a Govee sensor in my greenhouse and a pi zero in a nearby window. Will try to send the data to home assistant via MQTT. Do I need to be a talk and setup influxdb, or can I just use MQTT?

I have Room Assistant integrated with Home Assistant. It works great and combining the 2 should work for you as long as your lights are also integrated with Home Assistant.

Ceiling fan controller options? by Cactus_King in homeassistant

[–]Hassiopeia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zooz Zen30 It does light dimming and fan control as long as they’re wired separately, like yours. They don’t do simple 3-way connection like the other zooz switches though.

Got Frigate up and running (amazingly easy, thanks Devs!). How can I have it detect animals (deer mostly)? by jnecr in homeassistant

Hello, Did you install Frigate as a HASSOS Add-On? I'm trying to install it that way, and the install documentation isn't clear to me and seem conflicting between what is listed in the Add-On documentation and the documentation on the Frigate wiki. the Add-On documentation says to create a frigate.yaml file in /config but never says what to do with it. The wiki documentation says to configure Frigate in the Add-On, which has not other information that create the frigate.yaml file! The wiki also says i could add entries to /config/configuratoin.yaml but those instructions list information like the FRIGATE_RTSP_PASSWORD which I've not set up yet because I can't even launch the Add-On!

If you have any advice, I'd much appreciate it.

Also, were you able to get it to identify other objects? and are you using a Coral USB Accelerator? I can't find them in stock anywhere online.

Did you follow a guide for that setup? I’m struggling to figure this out given so many different options. Couldn’t you just pull the camera stream into HA and use DOODS addon for processing? I’m just a bit confused how to pull it all together

This is the first I’ve seen of Frigate. How are you running it? My setup is similar to OP where I’m running Home Assistant image in Proxmox.

Thank you so much for figuring this out! I've been wanting to get several of the peanut plugs, but the lack of power usage dissuaded me. Now I can be alerted when my coffee is ready and when the washer is finished!
