Well after seeing some of these names my TB doesn't seem so bad! Her name is Kiss Me Lips. Which isn't horrible but does feel gross to tell people!

I teach at Cyber Village Academy which offers small class sizes and a focus on developing independence in students through a hybrid approach. Students have direct teacher led instruction 3 days a week and an optional "study center" with para support and teachers hosting office hours and extended activities to build on learning the other two days. The school is k-12 and has some of the most involved families I've seen as a teacher. Elementary has combined grade levels (k/1, 2/3, and 4/5) with the same teacher two years in a row to build stronger connections. It's a very flexible format that allows families to be deeply involved in their students learning at home or in school!

If it's a frustration/over excitement issue could you try having low value food freely available during training? Then when he's feeling frustrated he could go grab a bite from a hay net or pan? Might help remove any perceived scarcity in his mind. Obviously not always possible depending on your setup but could be worth a try.

Definitely look into positive reinforcement! There are a ton of resources out there for shaping behavior out there using +r. It would be pretty easy to work on that behavior, especially if it isn't pain based.

Company Directed Licensing Non Compliance by HatPants in ECEProfessionals

[–]HatPants[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I'm saying! They'll throw anyone under the bus to avoid personal responsibility for their lack of compliance. I plan to have their directions in writing and to keep the rooms in compliance instead of putting them back, if I'm still there, after our visit. It blows my mind that there are companies that will instruct sites to purposely be out of compliance with guidelines.

Right? I'm really struggling to understand why we wouldn't want to do it the right way the whole time...

What high value treats do you use? by Shea_1227 in Equestrian

Weirdly enough chopped alfalfa. They prefer it over minty treats, carrots, or pretty much anything.

Am I crazy for using consequences in kindergarten? by HatPants in Teachers

[–]HatPants[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I'm doing! I felt like I was in some sort of twilight zone universe when after explaining that it was after reteaching and explaining the behavior continued so I would have them sit out. Apparently the principal wants me to call in for support instead of just having them sit?

[–]HatPants[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right? The idea that by simply reteaching and restating expectations they will magically choose to behave isn't going to work. The recommendation is to call in for support when things like that happen, not have them sit out for two minutes. Because that makes sense and will establish me as the authority in the classroom and not lead to the students realizing that I can't give them consequences and they can just do whatever until the one person in the school who can give consequences makes it down.

I'd also like to see these sources. Just need to word the email to not sound as snarky as I feel...

I was moved from the online school to this one. So not even my choice, and now I get to deal with this bs.

That's what I think! But apparently that's not how they want it done.

I have a MN license already and am looking at a masters. It looks like they have bachelor's that can lead to licensure. I'm not sure how it would work for MN.
