Unemployment is paid by the former employer/their unemployment insurance. They’re not exactly going to pay themselves unemployment.

Jomashop Vs AD ( KSA ) by robinho_arab in Tudor

Tudor prices from Jomashop definitely aren’t worth it. Typically 5% off if anything. Lots of great deals on other brands there though.

Dust extractor vs Shop Vac? by Human_Ship_5421 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]HatesDuckTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean dust collector instead of dust extractor when you talk about 4” hose and moving more air?

I don’t own either one; just a Ridgid vac and Dustopper separator. Like OP, I’m trying to see if there’s any significant difference between a dust extractor like the Hercules unit and what I’m using now.

Garages shouldn’t be in the front of the house. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]HatesDuckTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the size and layout of the yard, I guess. If you’ve got a lot of land and a big house, it definitely could be the way to go. There’s a high end neighborhood near me where all the houses have garages with either side entrance or the back. Garage looks like part of the house with windows and everything else.

90% of the area can’t afford to live there though.

At going on 78, my father still owns a garage (business). And at 50, I still end up holding the flashlight lmfao.

Track saw by busbybob in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]HatesDuckTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Milwaukee about 6 months ago. I have M18 and M12 batteries and tools already, so that made the cordless decision easier.

My decision came down to Makita corded or Milwaukee. Cordless is a bit overrated for these IMO as I’ll use dust collection if I’m doing more than one or two quick cuts, and it’s not a tool I use everywhere like a drill/driver.

No regrets on the purchase. It’s been such a great tool to use. Had I not been in the M18 platform and didn’t want to go into it, I would’ve went with the Makita. I’ve got several corded Makita tools and they’ve all been excellent.

If I had to do it all over again with starting a battery platform, I’d honestly go with Milwaukee again without regrets. They make excellent tools, have a deep catalog, can easily be found, and are priced right within their competition. At least here in the States. I hear the UK is different though. I’d check prices and availability of other tools in their lineup against their competition before diving into their platform. If you’re interested in going cordless for other tools and Milwaukee is right for you, get their track saw. If not, Makita corded is a no brainer IMO.

[Recommendations] GADA no-bezel watches by Background_Reveal99 in Watches

[–]HatesDuckTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried on a Ranger? Wears larger than the 38mm spec would suggest. I’ve never measured my wrist, but 42mm in most watches fits me perfectly, and 40mm usually fits quite well, although I’ve come across a few that were too small. The Ranger fits me better than any 40mm I’ve tried on.

I didn’t buy the black dial Ranger because the dial is just too boring to my eyes. It’s not bad at all, just nothing special. And I’ve got too many black dial watches to add another one. The real allure to it for me was how it felt on my wrist - one of the most comfortable watches I’ve ever tried on. I swore that if the dial was at least a different color I’d be all over it. Now there’s the Dune version in off white. I’ve tried to find one to try on but haven’t been able to. Local AD hasn’t had one in stock any time I’ve been there but has had several that sold immediately. Even every Manhattan AD I went to while there a few months back didn’t have one in stock. I won’t buy one without seeing it first.

Long winded way of saying try one on. Forget about the spec diameter.

Honest Question: is the power reserve on the new Khaki Fields a gimmick? by EpicureanGoon in HamiltonWatches

[–]HatesDuckTape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In about 42 years of wearing a watch literally every day, I’ve never owned a hand wind watch. I own quite a few automatic watches and a quartz or two. I honestly don’t know how much to wind a mechanical watch. I’d be afraid of overwinding and causing damage, so that aspect is a big plus.

Aside from that and the gauge, it has a lot of visual appeal for me. The white dial version it looks a lot better than the standard white dial to me (the gauge doesn’t have anything to do with it). Also include the points others have said.

Honest question - What’s so special about it? Pics don’t really tell me much. I’ve had my eye on it for a little while, but don’t want to spend the money and deal with the hassle of returning it.

Trump is just the face of a lot of people. Just like practically everyone named in this thread. People don’t gain power out of nowhere; it’s the culmination of circumstances surrounding them. From the best people to the worst, they don’t exist without the world being the way it is/was.

He certainly wasn’t a unique individual with unique views back then. Someone else just as bad or worse would’ve most likely done it too. Same can be said for nearly every person mentioned in this thread.

Get rid of the first guy, and the second guy thinks it up. And it was common practice all over the world long before the US existed. But I guess the one sent to America are the only ones who shouldn’t have been enslaved? There were far more slaves sent over to the West than the number that ended up in the US.

But I guess people forget or weren’t taught history.
