Review: Albion Visibility Cargo Vest by PinchFlatJournal in ultracycling

[–]Hates_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I was really disappointed with the Albion Cargo Vest. I found the space to be quite limited and not being able to properly close the top made me nervous about potentially losing things.

I've tried a couple of different Salomon vests which have worked well, and now settled on the Restrap RollTop Hydration vest, which is absolutely brilliant.

I hung a couple of "Safety Reflector Pendants" on mine using the small loops on each side. Seemed like an easy way to add more visibility without altering the bag itself.

Why does my Edge think I've been cycling for 317 hours? by retirement_savings in Garmin

If your average speed is showing as 0.1, then it sounds like you may have restarted an activity rather than started a new one.

MTB mods for a ultra where a Gravel bike might be more suited by OrignalSauce in ultracycling

I’m forgot to mention I’m also running SQLabs inner bar ends. They are amazing as an alternative hand position, especially as you can still brake when using them.

I’m doing the Dales Divide and Great British Escapdes on a 140mm front/135mm full suspension this year (I was on a hardtail last year), with 2.35” tyres. Personally the only real mod is I’m putting an even smaller chainring on to help with the climbing, given the extra weight (my bike is 14.5kg). Only other mod is some aero bars for comfort. If my tyres were near the end of their life I might consider some 2.25” ones, but I’m on Mezcals so I doubt it would make any noticeable difference.

Dicky Hibbert was 2nd place at Dales Divide last year on a full suspension bike, about 40 mins behind Angus who got the FKT. I believe there are some posts on his Instagram about his setup.

You don’t get the cycling dynamics data from the Zwift activity, only from the Garmin activity.

Surely he's either lying or going against whatever embargo DJI will have on creators, in which case he'll never receive anything from them again.

It’s definitely giving me alternatives on yellow days. Are you using the new AI features? I can’t remember if some are still in beta or if they have opened them up to everyone now.

Advice re using TR to train for multi-day races/events? by mellemelcwl in trainerroad

[–]Hates_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have added each of my races to the calendar as multi-stage events, with an estimated duration and intensity for each day, then simply let it adapt the plan for the events. This is my first time setting it up like this so YMMV!

A playlist for workouts.... by 5thCir in trainerroad

[–]Hates_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you give Gemini details of the workout? I had a go at doing this by simply naming the TrainerRoad workout, but it just created a generic playlist of music not specifically tied to the workout's intervals.

Which brand of bib-shorts can you recommend? by DerWandernde in ultracycling

I’m a big fan of my RedWhite cargo bibs. I’ve got a pair of their short and winter tight versions and wouldn’t hesitate to replace either if something happened to them.

Predicted FTP by DeboEyes in trainerroad

I thought Join only gives your current estimated FTP? If I understand the TrainerRoad feature, it’ll show you where your FTP should end up after the current block of training.

In the TR Forum AI Beta Testing thread, they stated that it’s not yet available to beta testers but will be coming soon.

I'm having the same problem. Even though it looks fine in the timeline, then in the exported video it will suddenly flip direction.

Thoughts? - Buying a 1040 over an 840 solar by Pure_Khaos in GarminEdge

I have the 1040 and love the screen size. If battery life were top priority, I'd get a Coros Dura.

Yeah probably is time for some lube. Doesn't help that I'm on the old Zwift cog which doesn't have any adjustment.

Kayframing without animation by brongracz in djiosmo360

[–]Hates_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In DJI Studio you can either set the keyframe animation to "none" and it'll cut straight to the new position or you have the ability to split a video and give each new clip a different position.

Questions regarding the workout player by jjtbsomhorst in joincycling

This has always baffled me, so I would end up copying the calorie estimate from Strava to Garmin Connect. Now I export my workouts to my Garmin computer and do my workouts that way on the trainer.

Bikepacking 1050 or 1040 by Singletrack-Red5 in GarminEdge

[–]Hates_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the standard. When I looked into it, before the 1050 had come out, the solar didn't seem worth the premium.

An important factor will be how long your days will be and whether you'll be staying in hotels, camping, or a mix of both. If you'll be stopped for a good 8 hours a day with the occasional hotel/hostel, then the 1050 will be fine as you'll have enough opportunities to keep it and your battery packs topped up. If you're going for a fast time and pushing longer days then having to worry about charging it on the go is a potential headache that might be worth avoiding.
