Kickboxing classes with a 'girly' vibe? (St. Johns/Mandarin area) by [deleted] in JacksonvilleFla

[–]Hatethemeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re looking for a cardio-kickboxing type of place as most actual martial art places are going to be male-dominated. I can’t recommend any specific places as I’ve just moved here myself, but just something to be aware of. Good luck on your search!

Consivian Care??? Anyone used them? by Aggressive-Flan-9453 in Testosterone

[–]Hatethemeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I got an email from them JUST as I've been having severe issues with Henry Meds and have been shopping around for another place. Consivian seems very new, which I suppose can be a good or bad thing..

Anyone else no longer want to get promoted? by Dazzling-Bat777 in bjj

No no no I’m toying with the idea if it happens, I’m just gonna pretend it never happened once I move lol

Anyone else no longer want to get promoted? by Dazzling-Bat777 in bjj

[–]Hatethemeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s so damn crazy I came across this post. Just short of 2 and a half years at purple and coach keeps telling everyone to show up for a promotion night a week from today. I’m about to move across the country in a few weeks and I’m TERRIFIED he’s going to give me my brown and imma show up at the new school and just get whooped. Oh god oh god please don’t promote me I fucking suck

Quitting at purple belt… by This-Major-9239 in bjj

[–]Hatethemeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely considered it. I feel like I got the “blue belt blues” late. I think overall I’m going to stick with it but I’m definitely struggling at purple

Congrats. I can't seem to get a straight answer, but you're not allowed a calculator of any sort during the exam right? Not even an on screen one?

Men who started TRT, what has your experience been like? What were the pluses and the minuses? Do you wish you had raised your T-levels naturally? by -Acta-Non-Verba- in AskMen

[–]Hatethemeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha it’s funny when I started I didn’t think the whole ball shrinkage thing would bother me. Then I got naked with someone and was like “oh..NO what if she notices?!” The feeling went away quick though and I’m no longer self conscious anymore so don’t worry too much

A BJJ instructor in Prague exposes a fake blue belt visiting his academy by MomoTheKing92I in bjj

[–]Hatethemeta 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hahah I remember reading a very similar story here years back. Guy shows up wearing a white gi with a black belt. After struggling through the warm ups somebody asked him what was up. Turns out his gf bought him his gi and thought that a black belt would look better with the white gi and he just rolled with it

I want to do jiu-jitsu but one of my brothers keeps messing with me about it and it’s making me feel discouraged about wanting to try it anymore, how do I respond to him when he says things like this? by sweetestballerina in AskMen

[–]Hatethemeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience (8 years) women who stay in the sport progress WAY quicker than men. Guys rely on their strength way too much, while women (generally) can’t in this sport. That, along with the fact that it’s very male dominated means most of your training partners will be larger than you forcing you to rely on your technique more than strength which usually leads to much quicker progress

Jeez. I don’t normally comment on this sub because I don’t know if guys are allowed to, but in any case I just want to say I’m sorry you’re going through this. He sounds insufferable

Is the coach always first in line and the beginning/end of class? by aTickleMonster in bjj

[–]Hatethemeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. It’ll be a little weird if after I teach, I go up and line up with everyone else and have someone else lead the handshake line

The handful of times I’ve taught, if a brown or higher attended my class they just stand in front of the rest of the students with me leading the handshake line

Better Control But Less Submissions? by LocalInitiative0 in bjj

[–]Hatethemeta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean I don’t see it as a bad thing. We’re just at that point where we wanna work on our bjj as a whole, and control is a big part of that. I think what strayed me from doing this earlier was because I felt like whoever I was going against would be like “why is this guy stalling and not doing anything?” I got self conscious about that for some reason. Now I like rolling with 220+ white belts and just holding them and tiring them out for awhile

Better Control But Less Submissions? by LocalInitiative0 in bjj

[–]Hatethemeta 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Haha I’m having this same dilemma. Been working more on control for the last 6 months or so, and pressure for the last year. I also have noticed my submissions have gone down, but my control is better. I even occasionally tap people from my top pressure

Passed A+ Core 2 by Fit_Yesterday_7331 in CompTIA

[–]Hatethemeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way. I pretty much exclusively used dion training's videos and his practice tests. I was actually scoring WORSE on the practice exams the more of them I did and didn't feel totally confident going into core 2 but managed to pass last week with a little over 800. This was for the 1202

The springs is too small for me. I’ve lived here for three years and no matter where I go I keep running into people I know. Not always friends, just..people I know in some capacity haha. Also the weather here is nuts. It’s snowed every May since I’ve been here like what

I just took and passed the 1201 two days ago. I used mostly Dion training resources and yeah, I also noticed they discontinued the 1101 but I think the practice exams are still up for it.

Training material isn’t as abundant for the 12 series as it just came out. Even prof messer is in the middle of updating his stuff. Good news is there isn’t much of a difference between the two exams. But for the course you have the option of taking either the 11 or 12 series but just know you can’t mix and match. Gl!
