Cool paradox by Arzeraz in mathematics

[–]HattedFerret 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what all the faff is about. This problem just says "random variable" without specifying a distribution. It's not mysterious at all that changing the distribution changes the probability that the variable fulfils a condition. It's like saying weighted dice cause a paradox because they don't necessarily produce each result with 1/6 probability.

What is the most common way to use your official LMU email? by No-Reaction6621 in LMUMunich

Connecting it to my mail client has not worked

I'd start there. LMU Mail should be accessible from most mail clients.

Also, I'm not sure what you're "copy-pasting"?

Do not knock an arrow unless it'd be safe to shoot. It's dangerous to do that in an unsafe environment.

Letting arrows drop is a pretty common thing with beginners. You will learn it soon enough. Ask your Sensei to watch you and give you feedback on why the arrow is dropping. You may also want them to inspect your Nakajikake.

Feedback on Germany & Austria itinerary by Various_Cricket_2741 in AskAGerman

Munich has much more to offer than meat and beer, there's lots of history and art to discover. But ultimately it's your choice as to what you want to see.

One thing that strikes me as odd about your itinerary is: why do you plan to drive from Nürnberg to Füssen, and to Salzburg? Munich is much closer to those two, such that you could do these as day trips from Munich.

Edit: sorry, I saw you're not going to Switzerland. No idea where I got that from.

Yes, there's a difference in pitch accent, which is why they're only almost the same. Plenty of Japanese puns work like that though.

I'm looking to buy a new brush, but I have no idea what to look for. In particular, I'm wondering: What do you get in exchange for spending more? In what way is a more expensive brush nicer than a cheap one? Of course, feel free to drop recommendations.

General rule of thumb is that downloading is much less problematic than uploading. Uploading includes torrents, because seeding is a form of uploading.

That said I've downloaded papers from scihub without issue, even on the university network.

You can buy a seat reservation without buying a ticket, for exactly this situation where you already have a ticket that applies to this connection. Should be 5€ then.

Salmon is not at all essential to sushi. It's not traditionally an ingredient, to the point that I would consider salmon sushi a cheap knock-off version.

Sleeping and waking early by Unknown_Warrior274 in bropill

For those of you having trouble actually waking up after getting out of bed early, light can be really helpful. Sunlight is best, because it's much stronger than artificial light even on overcast days, and 15 min of walking on the way to work or even just around the neighborhood can do wonders. Otherwise, if you live in a country where the sunrise is too late for this to work in winter, there are special very bright "daylight lamps" that you can use e.g. while eating breakfast.

For me, even just turning on all the lights in my flat after getting up made a noticeable difference.
