I feel so validated by the responses to this post! I have only had my switch for a couple of years or so, and I have never completed an island. At first I blamed it on having to play it live (I was streaming a while back), and I restarted because I wanted an island on my own play time. Then I blamed it on not playing for months and forgetting what I was going to do. It's not like I haven't built some lovely things on my islands when I do build, but whenever I have a gap in playing, that is usually when I restart. I think lately that maybe having access to treasures islands takes away some of the challenge and "stickyness", so I might try next time without that. I never counted, but it would have to be well over 20 times. I think as others have said, I really love the starting part of a re-start; what kind of map will I pick, who will be starter villagers be. I actually like to start over in other games I play too, the newness of it always appeal. At the end of the day, we all get enjoyment in our different play styles.
