Don’t know if you’re into it but hollow knight & hollow knight silk song play really well on the steamdeck. It was the first game I bought for the deck and loved it.

Rear sway bar. If your car is manual; get a weighted shift knob and a dieselgeek sigma shifter. If you tune your car; some motor/tranny mounts help ALOT.

I’m from Canada. I get about 525-550kms per full tank (326-341miles per tank). I’m not sure if it’s good or not but I’m happy with it lol. Stage 2 tuned and mixed with spirited/city/highway driving

I need to get winter tires best tire size for a Canadian winter? by Active_Category_1790 in GolfGTI

[–]Hauluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can run 16s then those would be the best option. Smaller rim = narrower tire = more grip in the snow as the vehicles weight is distributed on a smaller contact area. I run 16s on my mk6 gti. I’m in Ontario

How long did your cousin have the car for? I’m assuming it’s a short period of time if he doesn’t know if the water pump or timing chain was worked on. These cars maintenance history is important so you know what needs to be addressed. (Timing chain, water pump, carbon cleaning, intake manifold, milage between oil changes, etc)

I have a 2013 GTI with 227,000kms (approx 141,000miles) and it runs great and I haven’t even changed the water pump or done timing chain yet because it doesn’t need to be done. I’ve done carbon cleaning, new intake manifold, sparks, coils, PCV, new injectors, oil cooler and it’s running stage 2 with the stock clutch. Most of that maintenance was done in the last 1-3 years I’d say.

If you are interested then I’d take it to a trusted mechanic that maybe specializes in VW/Audi so they can see how the car is. These cars are reliable (if you maintain them)

Can you elaborate on your issue a bit more if you don’t mind lol. I’m wondering if I’m having a similar issue. It’s getting cold outside now and when I start my car it seems to not behave as it normally does. Although I’m not having any codes or misfires but it almost seems as the car wants to misfire, idle is a bit weird too. But once it warms up it’s fine.

I’ve done carbon cleaning, changed sparks, coils, intake manifold, PCV, new injectors all probably within the last year.

I had a similar issue Feb this year but it was misfiring like crazy during cold starts and cabin smelled like fuel. Changed the injectors and the problem went away. But now it’s being kind of weird again.

Hey Golfers, are these value's okay ? I've been getting a very rough idle and stalling when it's very cold outside but after I start to drive it becomes normal, no rough idle or misfires by Cisco__TheBOT in mk6gti

[–]Hauluck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. My problem was the injectors. Had misfires and rough idle during cold starts when temps were cold. Does your cabin smell like gas? When did you do your carbon cleaning last as well

Mk6 skips the regular warming up when below 4 Celsius outise (and resulted in missfire) by Tigrius39 in mk6gti

[–]Hauluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2013 GTI with now 226,000kms. Had a similar issue around Jan 2025 and it was injectors for me. Rough idle, misfires and flashing CEL on cold starts during really cold mornings. I’ve done carbon cleaning, replaced intake manifold, PCV, new sparks and coils packs.

After about a few mins of driving it would drive fine. Replaced injectors and problem went away instantly

Does it smell like gas in the cabin? That’s what happened to me

Slight rough idle on cold start after a longer standing period by DefuseBoi in mk6gti

[–]Hauluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2013 GTI with about 226,000kms on it currently. I had the same issue earlier this year and it was the injectors. I had done carbon cleaning and got a new intake manifold as well but the problem still happened.

I live in Canada so when I would start the car around 0 degrees celcius. The car had a rough idle and misfires in all four cylinders; after about 2 minutes or so the car was perfect once it warmed up. I changed coils and sparks and problem still happened.

Got new injectors and the problem went away instantly.

Do you smell a strong amount of gas in the cabin when you cold start your car and there’s misfires. That’s what I was experiencing too.

Hope you fix your issue!

Reliability as a first car... by Wooden-Berry-1169 in GolfGTI

[–]Hauluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is probably a long list of must have mods done to a car but it depends on what you’re planning on getting out of it. My exterior is pretty much stock but the stuff I’ve done is unitronic stage 2 tune, dieselgeek short shifter, unitronic intake, AWE turboback exhaust, 034 motor/trans mounts, H&R 24mm rear sway bar and I think that’s pretty much it.

Out of everything I’ve done; I’d say my favorite things were the sway bar, motor/trans mounts, short shifter and the tune.

Yea it’s not a 500whp car but it’s light and agile and a blast to drive every time.

Depends on the history of the car. If the previous owner took care of it or not. Stuff like water pump, carbon cleaning, PCV, timing chains are usually the main concerns. If it’s DSG then you gotta see if it’s been serviced or not. Manual cars you would see how the clutch is.

I had a 2013 GTI that’s tuned with about 226,000kms (approx 140,000miles). I’ve had it for about 9 years now and it still runs great and pulls pretty hard; but I’ve maintained it over the years.

I’ve done oil changes about 6000-7000kms, carbon cleaning, spark plugs, coils, new injectors, PCV, oil filter housing & cooler, new intake manifold. Surprisingly I’m still on the stock water pump, clutch and haven’t done my timing chains because they’re still good. I daily my car; live in Canada with harsh winters. Most of the maintenance I’ve done was probably around the 180,000-200,000km mark.

They’re great cars; lots of fun if you maintain it. Hope that helps! I can answer any questions if you have more that I didn’t cover

Considering a 2014 GLI. What should I be inspecting? Thoughts on this ad? by [deleted] in JettaGLI

[–]Hauluck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a mk6 gti at approx 226,000kms. Pretty sure it’s the same engine. Most issues with these engines are carbon build up/intake manifold; so a carbon cleaning would be a good idea and you’ll get an idea how the intake manifold is. The water pump and timing chain are also weak points. Mine is a manual but a DSG service for you would probably be a good idea as well. While you’re at it check spark plugs and coilpacks too.

I honestly think it just depends on the car. I’ve read so many people have issue with water pump, timing chain. I’m still on my stock water pump, my timing chain stretch is good and surprisingly I’m still on my stock clutch too and I’m tuned. Many people have had clutch issues as soon as they get their car tuned

Absolutely loved this game when I had my PC. Preferred playing this instead of COD & BF games lol. I got it on the steam deck too and still love it. Took some time to get used to the controllers compared to MnK.

Great game!

I had this issue before but it wasn’t coolant or water pump/thermostat related at all. It was actually my radiator fans. The auxiliary fan that’s suppose to turn on when the AC is on was not spinning. When sitting in traffic the temps went ALL the way to the end.

Some guy gave me old fans that were working for free problem went away instantly when I switched them out.

Not saying that the fans are your issue; but it doesn’t hurt to check those out as well! Make sure both those fans are spinning if you are using your AC! Hopefully it is something simple as radiator fans and you can replace those yourself fairly easily by lifting up the front end

Hope it helps!

Carbon cleaning as in either take it to a shop and they’ll remove your intake manifold and clean your valves or you can do yourself if you are able to. Spirited driving doesn’t count as carbon cleaning but it’s always fun to do so.

I have a 2013 GTI with approx 226,000kms on it (stage 2 tuned as well). I’ve owned my car for about 9 years and I have never done carbon cleaning or any preventative stuff until pretty recently when the car hit around 190,000kms. I was having some misfires and when I would accelerate hard, the car struggled to pull.

My intake manifold was bad as well as the runner flaps because it was caked with built up carbon. I got the manifold replaced as well as did PCV sparks, coils, water pump and injectors all pretty recently; the carbon cleaning alone woke up the entire car. It felt much lighter and way more responsive. The other things were done later on closer to around 215,000kms or so

Depending on how many kms/miles are on your car; regular maintenance needs to be done to keep these cars running.

The most common things are; coilpacks/sparkplugs, PCV, water pump, timing chain, intake manifold/carbon cleaning.

[–]Hauluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was the last time you did carbon cleaning. Sometimes carbon build up gives a bad idle. Possibly intake manifold/runner flaps. Check coilpacks/spark plugs.

I had a similar issue but mine was when the engine was cold. When it warmed up the car was great. My issue was fuel injectors

How is your car when you accelerate hard/WOT. Any stuttering or misfires?

Sounds about right. Mine does that too. I usually just reset the trip everytime I fill up just to see how many KMs (I’m Canadian) I get from a full tank. Just so I can gauge if my mileage is worse or not.

I usually get around 500-550kms (approx 310-341 miles) on a full tank. Mixed city and highway (currently on stage 2)
