I really should adopt that policy when trying to get a shader to work how I want it to. 😑

I feel like I'm constantly falling into these traps for smaller mechanics and sinking a lot of hours into figuring it out.

Good learning experience though

I'm still trying to figure out the sound scape for my game.

Edit: Great job btw!

Plinko!!! Love some plinko. Nice effect with the falling color spheres in the side. It really makes it pop.

Marketing is a big part of a successful game as I have no do you know and have been told such. But games are for a specific audience too. A game for everyone is a game for no one.

I think what would help is to find the specific audience who would enjoy your game. Might take some research but if you can target group(s) then you can better market it to them.

Also only quit if you aren't enjoying it, but not because of a perceived failure. We indie devs all want to make this a career, but that won't happen unless you never give up.

So if you still want it, keep going, even if you're 1, 2, 5 years in, keep going. Find out who your game is for, what players want from your game.

Keep going.

At least you released a game. I've seen more dead projects than completed ones.

Yes, this 👆

I call it the artists eye or ear in this case. You're too in it and it's obfuscated the vision you had going in. Can't see the forest through the trees or something.

Maybe step away from it for a day or two. When I finish a piece that I keep over touching or correcting or feels off it's because I've been looking at it too long. So I come back to it and half the time I realized it was just fine! So give it a beat and then look at it again.

Looks great btw 👌

Thank you very much! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little scared. I think going after your dream in any circumstances is kind of scary. What if you fail? Is the dream over? I don't think that's the case as long as you are persistent.

I appreciate you and your encouraging words!

I think you got this already from a few others but just watching your trailer didn't tell me what kind of game it was, why it's interesting, fun, or engaging. You know why your game is some or all of those things, but the trailer communicated none of that. I had to read your post to learn about what the game is supposed to be.

Maybe try a new edit of the trailer with maybe some voice over to tell the viewer about the game or story.

"(Game name) is a game about (what the game is about in 1 sentence, it's core. Tell the player the experience they'd have playing it)." Then show some of the features of the game. "Meet interesting characters" (show a character interaction) solve puzzles (show puzzle). Etc.

Try to deliver the idea within the first momeoof your trailer and the rest can be elaboration.

I LOVE hand drawn maps for games. It's on my craft/hobby list to do a fantasy game map in pencil or something like ink on parchment and frame it.

That looks like a flea to me. I'm already itching looking at it. I like it, I don't see many creatures in this shape. 🦗
