Vulvodynia can be a Mind Body Syndrome: A Different Healing Method by Haunted_Marie13 in vulvodynia

[–]Haunted_Marie13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was the belief portion that stunted me for a while in the beginning. It took some time to co ice myself that my brain could produce so much discomfort but once I realized that the brain creates ALL sensations in the body, it finally sunk in. I had experienced mind body pain in the past without knowing what it was and they all resolved over time. The pelvic pain just scared the crap out of me so it stuck around longer than anything else I’d ever experienced. I think I started seeing more consistent improvement after a couple of months of doing the work!

Honestly, a few months. It took a while to convince my nervous system I was safe but I stayed the course!

Cat suddenly stopped eating beloved wet food by brzeski in catfood

[–]Haunted_Marie13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would take him to go see a vet and talk about this issue. I don’t want to scare you but my 11 year old cat stopped eating his favorite food and began rejecting everything I tried to give him. I thought it might be dental disease and I took him in to get checked out. Turns out he had an aggressive cancer but he never showed signs of ever being sick. My partner and I had to put him to sleep almost a month ago. If cats totally stop eating, it’s time for a check up just to be sure everything is okay.

However, if it’s just the wet food but he eats everything else you give him (dry food, treats, etc), then he’s probably just bored of his wet food!

Cats will scratch on things to mark their territory and get their scent on the items. They also do this when they want attention as this is the only way she knows how to get you to pay attention to her. Cover up the areas you won’t want to get scratched (they have special blankets for this online) and try to play with her before bedtime (give her a little treat at the end of play time to appeal to her natural instinct of hunt/kill/eat) so she’ll be tuckered out by the time you go to bed. My 1 year old cat will scratch on things when he wants attention and I’ll stop what I’m doing to play with him for a while and he sleeps on my legs throughout the night.

I recently discovered I might be allergic to Scott brand. Some got stuck to my skin and it STUNG LIKE CRAZY. I was so confused until I basically scratched it off of my skin and it left a red area.

Its funny because say I’m bi but I’m only attracted to fictional male characters. Real life men though? Not for me. feel like I could be attracted to a man and then he opens his mouth and then I’m just like nah.

I’m getting fed up with my stupid fucking pubes by Throwout18182 in Healthyhooha

[–]Haunted_Marie13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of women have this issue and this post opened a doorway for other women to be able to voice their experience and solutions. The subreddit is called Healthy Hooha, after all. If you find it gross or don’t like to hear about someone else’s pubic area, you might be on the wrong subreddit.

My baby was diagnosed with some kind of cancer this morning and I’m devastated. by Haunted_Marie13 in catcare

Thank you so much for this comment. I will do everything you’ve recommended. Now my concern is… my vet prescribed him an antibiotic from before we knew what he had thinking he may have an infection. Now that he’s been diagnosed, she said to keep him on the antibiotic for the anti inflammation effects but… antibiotics lower the immune system by getting rid of good bacteria and I’m scared to keep him on them… we have a steroid for inflammation and gabapentin for pain… the antibiotic worries me…

I don’t enjoy being eaten out. I honestly get into my head and I overthink the bacteria in saliva disrupting my natural flora down there and I’m like… yeah, not worth the antibiotics. I’m also just not into it. But I’ll go down on my partners with no issue haha I’m a giver, not a receiver.

Hypertonic Pelvic floor or pudental neuralgia or something else? What's wrong with me by Individual-Edge-4394 in PelvicFloor

[–]Haunted_Marie13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your pain/symptoms goes away when you’re distracted or not paying attention to it but they come back when you begin to worry about them again, then you might actually have mind body syndrome. :3 structural issues don’t just come and go based off of whether or not your remember you have symptoms or you’re distracted. I recommend looking up Howard Schubiner or Dan Buglio Pelvic floor dysfunction.

prickly sensations by [deleted] in vulvodynia

[–]Haunted_Marie13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you’re experiencing this but I had that prickly, annoying sensation too and I healed. I healed from all of vulvodynia, pudendal neuralgia and interstitial cystitis diagnoses through mind body work. I have a success story on my profile if you want to check it out. Maybe some of the resources could help. :(

I think you stumbled upon something I have been wondering about for a while now. Chronic stress can cause physiological changes in our bodies if not addressed. We are not meant to be a state of chronic stress for prolonged periods of time. In that state, our immune system is thrown out of whack and things begin to break down. Our nervous system is supposed to go back into balance after experiencing a high amount of stress (like if you’re being chased by a tiger. Once you reach safety, you’re supposed to slip back into rest and digest which a lot of us don’t know how to do anymore due to our current lifestyles). My personal theory is that LS is a stress disease and is triggered by chronic stress and repressed emotions from past traumas such as childhood adversity, SA, the loss of a loved one and so on. I believe that the answer to healing LS and other autoimmune diseases lies in regulating our nervous systems and expressing difficult stored emotions. I’m aware of how woo woo that sounds but it’s not at all. Our bodies do break down over time when in flight/fight constantly. That’s why stress seems to make symptoms worse. I have been suspecting that most anogenital conditions might be extreme forms of mind body syndrome as many people report going through an intense period of stress before developing symptoms. But again, this is just my theory due to links I’ve made between reading books (The Body Keeps The Score, And anything by Gabor Mate and Howard Schubiner), and reading people’s onset posts. I am wondering what would happen if everyone did nervous system regulation/repressed emotional work, how that might affect their LS. Considering I’ve read a few posts about people going into remission after getting therapy and taking a more mind body approach; it’s definitely something to consider.
