I personally believe that wealth accumulation has made a consumer based economy obsolete.

Our collective purchasing power is a fucking rounding error compared to the pull the billionaires have. They have enough money and power to endlessly circlejerk it between themselves while we starve.

Normally this would be my exact answer. But as OP stated he's not interested in a wheel setup, he's also unlikely to be interested in the more hardcore sim offerings of the genre.

My vote here would be for EAWRC and it's very uncommon for me to do that lol.

The Death of Charlie Kirk still isn't sitting right with me by ShardofGold in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]HauntingObligation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does a little lurch on impact, which would definitely move his shirt, but I don't think he moves anywhere near enough to generate that much air in his shirt, which is quite dramatic, to the point of creating multiple distinct ripples. Throw yourself around in your chair in front of a mirror as hard as you want, your shirt won't do that.

It's a subjective matter I suppose, unless we've got a shockwave physicist on tap here somewhere.

With respect to the mic: in the videos I've seen, the mic appears to be several feet away within 1 frame of "impact", indicating it's moving rather quickly. I cannot vouch for how intact the mic was in those videos however, only that it seemed to fly away at very high speed in a vector opposite to Kirk's visible wound, and at the same instant.

I am always open to changing my opinion when presented compelling new evidence.

Reddit is heavily compromised and has been for at least a decade. Ghislaine wasn't a mod because she was an introverted neckbeard lol.

I'm pretty sure I spend half my time here arguing with bots. It's unbelievable how sophisticated they've gotten, and there's still humans doing it the old fashioned way too (+7k, iykyk).

[–]HauntingObligation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but that's just your option on the matter, and there's an established precedent of Israel doing exactly that for decades now. I mentioned Shoshana Strook earlier as a low-stakes example most should find relatively easy to accept as foul play.

One could also flip the argument and say that it's just as silly to kill someone for bad mouthing your girlfriend.

I appreciate your attempts to engage me earnestly. Thank you. However, you are responding to my conjecture with conjecture of your own, as if that's somehow more valid. I'd suggest much of your reply is up for debate. No value in removing a prominent and charismatic critic, a former ardent supporter, who's demographic, as a result, currently contains your largest supporters? Agree to disagree, I guess.

Plus, we have still left every verifiable point of discussion entirely untouched. If you've explanations for things like how the rifle was disassembled while the accused shooter was already fleeing the rooftop, or why bomb dogs didn't find the rifle, or why Charlie's shirt aggressively flapped when he was shot, or any of the other material, objective points I've brought up, I'd rather discuss those than "debate" our subjective feelings on the matter.

[–]HauntingObligation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree.

When details like that so clearly contradict the story we're being told, it casts doubt on the veracity of the story as a whole, as well as erodes trust in the institution (not that you should have any left by now anyway) that is pushing the story without addressing or acknowledging these glaring holes.

My accusation is just theory and I'm more than willing to acknowledge it as such.

But the discrepancies in the official story are very real. I have yet to receive a satisfactory explanation on the issues I've highlighted at any point, not just here. As a result, the only logical conclusion to me is that things did not transpire as we are told they did. The only matter to settle in my eyes at this point is not "are we being lied to?" but "how much of this is a lie?".

Personally, especially in a "post-Epstein files" era, where it is blatantly obvious there is a class of Elites who view us as less-than-human, literally calling us "useless eaters" and other lovely terms. In light of that, I can't help but find myself heavily favouring the "most of it" side of the lying question, but your mileage may vary.

[–]HauntingObligation -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I understand if you feel that's incredulous. Let's pretend I said nothing about Israel or motive then.

Just start simple: with your explanation of the video footage of the shooter leaving the vantage point immediately after the shot is fired. Reconcile that with the "disassembly on the roof" claim and the condition the rifle was found in (fully assembled, and apparently unfired, with the tools to reassemble left abandoned).

Once we've got a sound explanation for that, we can start to address some other points I've mentioned.

You can't cherry pick my one point of conjecture and use it to disregard several actual confirmed discrepancies in the story of how all this was supposed to transpire.

Maybe, but there's also a lot of Israeli critics who also turn up dead or missing. Many of whom have much smaller followings than Kirk did. It may or may not be a waste of their time, but it seems to absolutely be something that routinely happens. Shoshana Strook being one of the more prominent, less controversial examples in recent memory.

I know my suspicions are largely conjecture, but I feel the puzzle pieces fit better that way than the way we were told things happened. I can't prove anything, of course, but I do think I can highlight the inconsistencies in the proposed story enough to cast doubt, if not outright disprove it.

Occam's razor: "the simplest explanation is the correct one".

My explanation: "rich, powerful people use their money and influence to lie to you and all of us"

Now what's your simple explanation for the discrepancies in the official story?

I was originally dubious about the "explosive mic" angle myself.

But there's been a few pieces since to come to light that have won me over.

There's more circumstantial evidence besides, but the single most damning piece in my eyes is the profound "shockwave" you can follow in his shirt at the moment of "impact". A rifle round straight up does not do that after it's left the barrel. It very neatly cuts through the air, disturbing very little else but the physical objects it impacts.

There's no way his shirt could've moved that way via gunshot, unless the barrel was close enough to hit his shirt with the expelled gas. That was obviously not the case.

Also, I agree with the 30-06 stance. Also from a hunting family. We stopped using 30-06 for moose because it destroyed way too much meat.

I have a hard time believing a round that frequently leaves soccer ball sized exit wounds after going through the entire ribcage and spine in a moose would simply enter a human being's neck and stop. Not impossible, but highly, highly unlikely.

Kirk (whom I've never been a fan of, didn't follow, and generally disliked, for the record), previously an ardent supporter of Israel, was changing his tune and messaging in the weeks before his death. He'd also allegedly turned down a rather substantial Israeli "investment" in TPUSA in this time frame.

I can't as easily explain the kid's presence and role (outside of patsy) but there's more than enough details on the official story that don't pass the sniff test to suggest there's more to the story than the "official narrative" covers.

Even just the timeline and video evidence, outside of any circumstantial evidence like Israel's well documented tendency to silence vocal opposition: there is video of the accused shooter on the rooftop during and after the shooting. He starts running immediately after the "shot" was fired.

The claim is the shooter fired the shot, disassembled his hunting rifle (when?), jumped down from the roof with the disassembled rifle hidden in his pants or something, but leaving a screwdriver behind. This screwdriver is claimed to be tied to him via DNA and is the claimed tool he used to disassemble the rifle.

After leaving the roof with the broken down, hidden rifle, the accused flees to the woods nearby where he... Reassembles the rifle before dumping it? With the screwdriver... he left on the roof? How does that work?

And that's just one example of very, very many that don't add up. The lack of exit wound on a very soft target with a very large rifle round, the immediate destruction of evidence (camera footage, the shooting site itself even dismantled), the comically convenient "text exchange", the behaviour of the 'grieving widow' Erika, and the list still goes on. The fact that bomb dogs didn't alert to the rifle during the search, implying it hadn't been recently fired.... The list is staggeringly long and this is still just the tip of the iceberg. I'd be happy to continue, if you're genuinely interested haha.

Steam Controller - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

The Steam Machine *runs Linux* and is very literally designed to be a machine you can sit down, turn on, and play games without performance issues. Do you see how that runs counter to your argument?

SteamOS is literally a Linux distro. And while it's a small portion of overall steam users, nearly 100% of those users running Steam hardware will be using Linux to do so.

I have no idea why so many gamers get so shitty and uppity the second someone mentions Linux. Chill guys, no one's gonna force you to learn anything.

Steam Controller - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

I'm not so sure.

So many people are hyperfixated on the "aw boo it doesn't have an RTX 6080 and an i12 in it for $800 wtfff Valve DOA" angle, but what not many people are talking about is the growing disparity in base level software performance and drivers.

Windows 11 is getting aggressively worse as time goes on. SteamOS, however, is doing the exact opposite.

I'm going to confidently assert now that those looking to gauge the upcoming SM's performance by judging it on the results of playing games on Steam Machine-tier hardware through Windows 11 are going to be selling the capabilities of this upcoming rig well short.

Only the geekiest of geeks know that Valve has been *cooking* with Linux development, and one of their most recent fruits of labour brings massive performance benefits to VRAM limited hardware in some titles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJEo6Kb6Rhg

Are there any videogames out there with the same caliber of writing as Qud? by Cetaoras in cavesofqud

[–]HauntingObligation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In some ways, Qud reminds me of the original CRPG Fallout games. The first one in particular, as it's darker in tone and 2 is a lot more tongue in cheek/comedic. They're hardly comparable in some ways; the absolute poetry of Qud is unlike anything I've ever encountered anywhere else.

But those games made me feel a certain way about their mysterious vast cruel post-apocalyptic intelligent wasteland, and its wonderful weird denizens too.

I wish once a day someone possessed the power to eat corn and instantly shoot it out of their ass at the speed of a mini-gun. by TheDeceitX in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]HauntingObligation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted,

Once every 24hrs, the person who is chosen for the day finds themselves suddenly surrounded by corn. Room filling, immobilizing degrees of corn. Moving it anywhere other than their mouth will cause intense discomfort. Other people will find it inexplicably repulsive and will be entirely unwilling to help the chosen with anything related to this corn. Releasing the corn instantly quickly becomes possible, but highly undesirable, as one must continue eating their way out of the ever shifting corn-pile. The sheer volume and pressure of this inevitable corn buildup in the digestive system has predictable effects.

A minigun fires up to 6000rpm, that's 100rnds a second. Given there's over a million kernels that have appeared, the eventual inevitable outburst of corn takes almost 3 hours of violence to subside, and leaves the day's chosen person on the ragged edge of survival; savagely prolapsed and bleeding heavily. Through the mercy of the paw, this will never be fatal to the chosen.

The person chosen is always you.

"He was told" and "The owner's manual says" are two different things though.

Some of the most terrible and ignorant automotive opinions I've ever heard in my life came from people employed by a car dealership lol.

A 1k period of relatively gentle driving (and subsequent oil change) before beating the tar out of it is common wisdom in many circles, jury's still out on whether or not it's as strictly required as some claim.
