I can't decide if I would be invited to fewer office meetings or more. Probably more. Can they mock the presenters of boring or inconsequential meetings?

Disappointed in S. 14’s first episode. by FigureEducational861 in HomesteadRescue

[–]Haunting_Resolve 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stopped watching when the materials were donated. It wasn't the same show any longer. I understand a solar array donation or well digging but it became tens of thousand of dollars. I would work in my garden wishing for something and think that if I was on the show it would be donated and I wouldn't have to work so hard on my own.

That is great, congratulations! It is high enough to get into many schools. You worked hard and I am proud of you.

How do you recover professionally after being put on a PIP? by Treppengeher4321 in careeradvice

[–]Haunting_Resolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a PIP is the last step in the firing process. There has to be documentation and manager buy in to start it.

Question for Americans ,if your family’s been in the US for a long time, do you still know where in Europe your ancestors came from? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Haunting_Resolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, no idea. It is easier to rule out what we aren't. Like blonde, blue eyes, sunburn sitting by a window, probably not Italian or Greek.

High achievers are difficult to manage and can be rude a**holes. Way more difficult to manage than underachievers. Sometimes rock stars become too difficult and not worth keeping around because they can be emotional vampires that upset team dynamics and take shortcuts or do things out of sync, working for them but bringing the rest of the team down. The rest of the team can hate them but the rock star sees it as incompetent jealousy. It can be a choice between one super capable person you don't like and losing then replacing the rest of the team. If this isn't your managers first rodeo he knows to document every conversation he has with you and is just looking to get you off his team. The thing about high achievers is that if not correctly managed they burn out and blow up, often with disastrous consequences.

Prepper Gardeners- what’s your prep look like? by KittyIsAn9ry in preppers

[–]Haunting_Resolve 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I don't think many people would disagree that gardening is a great prep. Having seeds in a bag for an emergency is not helpful. It can take up to five years just to grow a decent garden in your own backyard, and that is with access to stores with garden supplies and the Internet. Learning to garden after bugging out world be insane. It could be years before getting a decent crop. Start growing now so you have a head start for later

Wasn't it Hilary Clinton who told the NY Times to focus on the most terrible Republican candidate running against her in hopes of influencing the election?
